Park General Manager & Others

Does the general manager of Kings Island ever go out and walk around the park, and talk to guests? I was wondering because when I am there, I never see any of the office executives around. I would think that they would want to do some customer service with the guests. Just curious......

By the way, I looked at the Diamondback cam on Saturday and the whole que was filled. First time I have seen that this year. Was nice. I really want Cedar Fair to do well. They have made the park like it was in the late 70s & early 80s when i visited as a passholder. The park was at its best then. If you were not around then, you missed out. It was great, and Cedar Fair has brought that feel back closer than anyone else that has owned the park. Keep up the good work!

Don is the only "executive" person I'd recognize, but I do see him out in the park quite often. I've also noticed quite a few "shirt and tie" folks walking around sweeping this season. While I don't know the reason for this (it could just be that that particular department is short on help this season), it's always good to see management folks out and about - it shows that they really do care about the guest experience.

On busy days, you can see them assisting at the front gate taking admission tickets. I worked next to Greg (general manager) as he took the guests admission tickets and greeted them.

I have seen managers taking tickets as well. I have seen managers out in the park every time I have been there this season.

I have seen the vice president and general manager, Greg Scheid, out and about in the park multiple times. Coincidentally, it's usually around Backlot Stunt Coaster, behind the Eiffel Tower. It's great, because they're approachable and (though I have never spoken to any of them) I imagine they'd be more than happy to stop and listen to all you have to say. Maybe not Holiday World friendly, but still pretty personable.

Unfortunately, I don't think anyone in the park wants to hear about Son of Beast or The Crypt, and that's really about all I talk about when you get down to it.

I have not infrequently seen executives from other park chains at Kings Island, at Great Adventure and even at Disney and Universal...and I very often used to see Will Koch at Kings Island, after Holiday World had closed for the season, usually riding or in line for Beast. I have sometimes seen Jeff Seibert at the park as well....

The last time I saw Jeff Siebert was LAST year, and it wasn`t at Kings Island... He was visiting some friends and former coworkers at a park that has many full timers that used to work at this now closed park.

You will often see Vic Nolting, the president of Coney out and about with a pan and broom in hand. Ironically, while the owner of Coney, Brenda Walker has been in the park numerous times when I have been working, I do not know what she looks like, and therefore would not recognize her if she said hello to me! She is typically a hands off owner, and lets Coney`s full time staff run and operate the park.

I have a feeling certain existing covenants in current financing will help Mr. Kinzel and/or his successors and assigns revisit that "just wait" scenario. I'd think the next conference call would be interesting, but the last one was perhaps the most boring one I have ever heard in my more than 40 years of listening to, reading and interpreting such calls.
