Dieseltech20
Me and fighting31irsh were in the front seat, both wearing our respectable MLB team hats so yeah that probably was us. I need to get to know people on here better, everytime I am at the park it seems like I never see a KIC'er. Same here. That giant list we had for opening day and I met one person. Snowman
Went into the $10 or less store in coney mall and bottled water was $4. Go around the corner and get ice water for free. Gotta say I was stunned. Maybe it was water that trickled down from The Beast's loading station. Jasper
I need to get to know people on here better, everytime I am at the park it seems like I never see a KIC'er. Same here, although I did see my Raven t-shirt getting a lot of pointed looks. I wasn't sure whether to say something or not, though, since I did see a Voyage t-shirt or two there as well... Or were there just a lot of enthusiasts at the park? Or is Holiday World actually popular around Cincinnati, and I've just never noticed it before? Wearing a Coastermania hoodie got a lot of looks and even started some conversations. Wow, that was no way that was you wearing that hoodie. Did you go into the Diamondback single rider's line not too long before opening? No that was not me, I never entered the single rider lines. Oldiesmann
New food stand on I-Street replacing Keyhole. Which one, there's like four of them on i-Street? Also, Flight of the Valkyries? On MY Backlot Stunt Coaster?! This sounds way too good to be true! The one directly to the left of Starbucks.
MarketingExpress
Flight Deck also seemed to be playing classical type music in its queue line as well! Overall fun day at the park. Stayed all day long! I`m so glad that the park is open again, and that I got to spend the day with some really great friends. I believe the Flight Deck music is from Transformers...ironically a movie distributed by Paramount

PKIVortex
That's right, Midway Treats and Eats. Well I guess that means those Potato Works Fries are pretty popular.

PKIVortex
I'd say so, as they cost plenty of nickles.
ParkMake
I'm not sure if anyone has posted it yet but the sign on the X-Base arch is down. The one that said TEST. I just wish I could remember what that stood for.
CedarPointer
That's right, Midway Treats and Eats. Well I guess that means those Potato Works Fries are pretty popular. They sold them there last year, I recall seeing the signs that say "We Use Peanut Oil", which they use for the fresh-cut fries. I kinda miss the old name, Coney Potato Works is rather generic. The Interpreter
Not if you know about Rivertown Potato Works. Like Kennywood's Potato Patch, it's rather distinctive....
TTD-120-420
<br /><br />Did anyone check out the lazer tag thing?<br /><br /><br />At the risk of people paying for this and being upset that it's not what they thought, I should point out that people here have hypothesized that it is <b>not</b> laser tag, but a laser navigation maze.<br /><br /><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5124/5309956140_7fce3c2fa1.jpg" /><br /><a href=' class='bbc_url' title='' rel='nofollow'>http://www.flickr.co...ogy/5309956140/</a><br /><br />Admittedly, that does sound like it would be about right for an attraction called "The Vault." Like a spy, thief-themed attraction where you have to sneak past the security lasers into a vault, right? I haven't been in it, and I haven't read anyone else here say they have, but someone mentioned another Cedar Fair park building something like it last season.<br /><br />You can find a laser attraction of this type in the ADVENTURE exhibit at COSI Science Center in Columbus. There, in trying to master the adventurer's skill of <i>perseverance</i>, you must climb through the "fiery beams" emitted by the ancient spirit Skorn - make it through and you recieve her part of an ancient code. For anyone who like Tomb Raider: The Ride, ADVENTURE is an incredible exhibit, and unlike anything you'd expect to see at a science center. There's a pre-show and all! <br /><br /><img src="http://www.rotostudio.com/ModuleImageGallery25/Uploads/deehuyfb.jpg" /><br /><br /><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4082/5063360654_6b7d57c9be.jpg" /><br /><br /><br /><br />I mentioned earlier that Cedar Point put it in their arcade last year. homestar92
Not sure if it's been mentioned, or even if it's new for this year (I think it is) but we seem to have lost our Minis on Backlot. It would appear we have the Dominion style trains now.

Although, last year was the first time I ever really went to Kings Island, and something still seemed... different. Did we have the all one-color trains last year too, or have I spent WAY too much time on the internet compared to actually being IN the park? m2raptor
I'm not for sure if anyone noticed this but Vortex seems to have some new padding on the shoulder restraints.
Oldiesmann
A few things I noticed yesterday: All of the old red restraints on Delirium have been replaced with the newer black and red ones There are now LED light effects in the shooting scene on Backlot Stunt Coaster simulating gunshots Many of the swings on Zephyr have new straps on them (nice bright yellow ones) - last year some of the straps were pretty frayed
bkroz
There are now LED light effects in the shooting scene on Backlot Stunt Coaster simulating gunshots. Are you serious? Like, visible during the daytime, or only at night? Lights that replicate sparks of showers, or little bullets of light flying past, or little strobes in the helicopter's gun barrels? I can't tell you how excited I am by the small details like this... Especially when last year, Canada's Wonderland's was reprogrammed to not even come to a complete stop at that brake run (why do it if there's nothing - not even a spinning helicopter rotor - to look at?) and Kings Dominion's had absolutely no flames! Either way, this will only increase my longstanding claim that Backlot Stunt Coaster is one of the top night rides of the 102 roller coasters I've been on... GYK, who unapologetically names Backlot Stunt Coaster as his second favorite roller coaster experience at Kings Island... Really!

I don't know if they're visible during the day, but they were visible at night. They just look like little red lights flashing on and off simulating gun shots, and on the helicopter, there are 6 to 8 of them which light up in a circular pattern, simulating automatic gunfire. Also, another thing I noticed yesterday... The Eurobobbles are gone this season. In their place is a new "Pre-Historic Party Pavilion", which can be rented out for birthdays, group outings and other special events. I'm not at all surprised about this. In fact, I would be surprised if all them don't skip the helicopter scene within the next 3-5 years. I think it'll be more of a degradation over time and then a quick spruce up as we saw this season. Since the water left (which is probably permanent, and due to the wear and tear on the track as much as it's for money-saving) all that really happens there is the flames and the helicopter. Both of those were pretty much absent or reduced last season, and now they've been reinvigorated with new music, new lights, improved movement, etc. In other words, it seems like it's something they wish to maintain, just not necessarily as a priority every single season. But the fact that they spruced it up once seems to me to be very good news for the future. And of course, we don't know the status of Canada's version this year... Not yet at least! Snowman
GYK, The bullets on the helicopter's machine guns are visible during the day! I rode it yesterday. Also while the machine guns are shooting, if you look at the wall on the right you can see the bullet hits light up. Very Cool!!

pkiboy
I wish KI had the same program as The Crypt at Kings Dominion. Absolutely love the ride program, ride theme great too. The Crypt at KI is Wayyyy different than the crypt at KD!!!! Kings Island Operates Differnt than Kings Dominion!!! Like for example you have to wear your Shoes and Flip flops on Diamondback. At Carowinds you are allowed to take off your shoes and Flip Flops on Timmy!!! Every CF park runs there own way!!! some parks have a no reride policy KI is one of the few and i mean FEW parks that Allow this rule!!!
