October 18, 201213 yr As far as I'm concerned, it is demolished. It is in such a condition that sending a train on the track without it going airborne is an impossibility. Therefore, the ride is no longer complete, and is demolished.
October 18, 201213 yr "Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got till it's gone" they paved paradise & put up a parking lot... Or condos. Or a shopping center. Kings Island lives on. Would that we could say the same for Americana, Geauga Lake, Euclid Beach, Whalom Park, Libertyland, Williams Grove, Miracle Strip, Pavilion, Joyland of Kansas, Riverview, Palisades Park, and on and on..... Terpy. Context. Context. Context.
October 18, 201213 yr And technically the ride won`t even be completely dimolished when the last of the wood is hauled away. There are scores and scores of footings that will need to be removed too.
October 18, 201213 yr Really? Were all of King Cobra's? No. Were The Bat's? No. Were Steel Phantom's? No. Were Laser Loops? No. Will ALL of Son of Beast's be? That remains to be seen.

October 19, 201213 yr Not to rub it in, but I'll be doing an insane death dance in front of SOB's crumbling corpse.
October 19, 201213 yr Do you realize the amount of work it would take to dig out each one of the footings? Wow. Leave them in and save the money.
October 19, 201213 yr Removing the footings would depend on what the future use of the land said footing resides. Seems pointless to dig them up if its sitting overgrown under a towering roller coaster, but if an all new area is to be built on the land you can't have them in the way of attractions and infrastructure.
October 19, 201213 yr If you were to hike in the area that the mono-rail ran, you can see the footers still in place that the rails were attached on. There is no need to remove footers if it does not interfere with the construction of a ride or building. After SOB is completely removed and surveyors plot the land for future use for any planned ride, they would most likely keep footers that are not interfering with any new construction. Just like there are still footers still for The Bat, King Kobra, and other still in place. I know from the construction of the footers for the mono-rail track, those are on average 4 to 5 feet deep by 3 to 4 feet wide. It just would not be cost effective to remove any that are not in the way.
October 19, 201213 yr Author If you look to your left while entering Adventure Express's queue you can see some raised footers.
October 19, 201213 yr There's also a few King Cobra footings you can somewhat see from the Eiffel Tower, and definitely see from Bing maps:
October 20, 201213 yr Wouldn't it be something though, if from the ashes of SoB a new Stratocoaster emerged?!!!! Bring it!
October 20, 201213 yr I would love to see a picture from the tower this weekend. (Hint hint.) I'll be at KI tomorrow (Sunday) so I'll have the Eiffel Tower on my mental list of rides to ride so I can get some pics of what's left of SoB. edit: I got some pictures! Now all I have to do is import and then upload them... edit #2: The pics are now up! Edited October 23, 201213 yr by VortexBFForever
October 22, 201213 yr I'm late on this but the topic of this title is funny - "This will bring a tear to your eye" - as in TEAR down.
October 22, 201213 yr edit: I got some pictures! Now all I have to do is import and then upload them... Did you get them hosted?
October 22, 201213 yr edit: I got some pictures! Now all I have to do is import and then upload them... Did you get them hosted? To be honest, I don't really get what "host" means in terms of uploading photos. Well, anyway, here are the pics! Edited October 23, 201213 yr by VortexBFForever
