Starting to Decode 2014

I don't mind if the theming is not there...for there is another fantastic coaster with little theming that has a supernatural presence, running through the woods. And that zone is not welcoming to its presence...anymore. But I still foam with adrenaline every time I sit down on its trains at night.

Also a good name...Girlfriend of Manti Te'o!

Andrew, waiting for produce to be thrown...

Another one of my great epiphanies.....

No track spotted at Batavia yet?.......

No problem!.........

B&M's latest concoction - the track-less coaster,

And King's Island is getting the very first one, a prototype, if you will, called LEVITATION.

With no visible track, riders have absolutely no idea what's coming next.

It's extra thrilling in the dark - it will make you scream like a Banshee!

I thought the 40 million figure was just for Son of Beast. Tomb Raider cost the park 20 million.

Boy I REALLY hope they didn't spend that much on SOB. Which by far is already one, if not, the BIGGEST failure/bust/mistake in amusement park history. The $40 million dollar total would be just a kick in the pants while laying on the ground.

Attraction Name

Son of Beastâ„¢

Description

Son of Beast is a world-record breaking roller coaster that elevates the classic wood coaster experience to a new level and introduces an evolutionary concept, a 103-ft. loop. No other wooden roller coaster in the world features a loop. In addition, the Son of Beast represents the largest single investment in the history of Paramount's Kings Island and tops off a two-year $40 million capital expansion program at the 364-acre theme park.

I don't think the coaster was 40 million it was just part of a 40 million$ investment.

Could they have been filed, and just not made available to the public by Kings Island's request? I'm not sure how this works? Or is this project going to be so large that it may not be for 2014 and it could be a 2015 project?

I'm not sure, the last permit I found for Kings Island was a building permit for Firehawk. One filed in 2008 was sealed, obviously that was Diamondback.

Where can one find these permits? Mason city hall?

20 million was the initial investment, but one must take into account extra bracing in the rosebowl, purchasing of new trains, retracking, removing the loop, and all the other costs associated with the ride.

Bodda(screen name after Patrick swayze in Point Break?) said the agenda would not be disclosed till the night before or something to that effect. Maybe we will get 1/2 off season passes as well.

My screen name has nothing to do with Patrick Swayze. :)

You will be given a time to be at the park, as well as a location to meet. That's about it. I will not be posting an agenda on here at all.

Isn't this FUN?

Just a thought... What if the ride has something to do with one or all of the dive in movies they do at their water park...

....or maybe the "dive-in" title is the ultimate clue...a dive coaster (not that I want to see one).

I would estimate that I am 95% sure the new ride will be announced September 8th, which so happens to be the same date as the KICentral event.

Being a part of KIC is so cool, and it looks like Don is rolling out the red carpet for us.

I really doubt that they would have the announcement that day. Don, Greg and possibly even CF management will be on hand for the press, because they will all want a soundbite from a park spokesperson.

It is also the LAST regular season day so staffing will already be thin.

That leaves little management left to escort KICentral guest. Expect to hear an announcement before the end of August. Most likely before August 23 the last weekday the park is open.

That leaves Sept 8 as a great day for management to show off all those footers that have grown out of the ground for the last few weeks.

Don't worry i am SURE an announcement day will be a day that will be posted on KIC

Just wait before long we will be talking about how much track is up.

Just 3 years ago we were discussing the moving dirt piles.

Yes, Don told us that there was no ground being broken, well we rode Drop Tower, and we saw dirt. TONS OR DIRT! It looked like Don lied to us...sad.gif But it looks like something is going down in the territory of SOB, and it may be somewhere to put new track, or something else?

Perhaps the ride will be call EVOLUTION. ;)

Oh hey, that's me!

Round round, get around - we get around.

Clearly this is a hint that for 2014, in addition to CORN: The Ride, we will also get a new show celebrating the music of the Beach Boys and other 60s surf rock groups called "Surfers Rule."

@KICentral keeps going round and round. Where they'll stop nobody knows!

Yes, Don. I get it. You're toying with us. I love it. :D

Clearly the ride will be themed to crop circles.....you know with Corn: The Ride and a lot of crop circles are round and round.

Round and round...

Does the park want to give us more ERT on the Coney Mall spinning rides? Maybe it's time to get this thread back on the topic of new (or old) scooters?

All this round-and-round discussion is considered online buzz... and that's good, right?

At first I thought this ride would be a dark themes ride back in April, then more clues began popping up with the "no camping" signs, then the scarecrow (or whatever), then the owl in the tree. Maybe it's not a dark themed ride, but a ride that revolves around the woods. Where do you typically go camping? Where do owls live? The woods/forest.

Son of Beast was part of a 2-Year, $40 Million Expansion that included Drop Zone, Face-Off and the Action Zone area. Ironically, Son of Beast coast about $14 Million to build and over the years, they put almost twice that amount back into it with repairs and reprofiles.

I'm thinking the announcement for the 2014 ride will be near the mid-to-end of August, as that coincides with Kentucky Kingdoms coaster announcement a bit before and the Six Flags announcements on August 29th as well as much of the industry making announcements before Labor Day.

Wait...Kentucky Kingdom is supposed to make an announcement this year also? I might have to head down there next year if this is a great ride.
