MadMaverick Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Say what you will, Son of Beast was probably my favorite ride at KI. ( before the removal of the loop that is) I know few people agree. 7 Quote
purdude86 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 The camera on Face/Off was between the vertical loop and the second lift. 4 Quote

faeriewench Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Face/Off (Invertigo) had a camera? Yes. Many of KI's coasters did at one time, including Adventure Express. 4 Quote

flightoffear1996 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Wow! The Effiel Tower in that picture looks stunning. 12 Quote
BlondyRidesOn Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I have one question. Was the sky ride the original from Coney Island, or was it a new set? The sky ride at Coney had three main towers, while the Kings Island one had four. 1 Quote
Spectrum91 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Face/Off (Invertigo) had a camera? Indeed, and I think I've heard that Woodstock Express' photo booth was formerly FACE/OFF's 1 Quote
jandyb79 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 A former sculptor for Kings Island sent me these images of some of the work he did for both Kings Island and Kings Dominion. Enjoy 26 Quote
violakat03 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 My very first roller coaster, Beastie. 1995. I'm in the front right in the Pepsi shirt. 13 Quote
VortexBFForever Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Four Friends Watching 8/04/12 by KIC-Vortex_BFF, on Flickr This was taken when I visited KI with three other friends on August 4, 2012. We were watching the now deceased Thunder Alley. The then SBNO Son of Beast wasn't in the picture, but it was still there (demolition didn't start until about a month later, if I remember correctly). 9 Quote
TTD-120-420 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 How dare you bring bags into the park?! Don't you know if it can't fit in your pocket you shouldn't bring it in?! (Just so you know, I'm be facetious) 7 Quote
violakat03 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Another rare Face/Off on ride photo. I believe this was 1999, maybe 2000. I look so young, lol. Somewhere, I have an Adventure Express ORP. I'm hoping to find it and my FOF ORP from 1996. 13 Quote

(Just so you know, I'm be facetious) Is it okay if I take old bags to parks? I have, you know -- but, they weren't loose articles. 7 Quote
CharleyTheDinosaur Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I loved these handcars as a kid. I believe they were where Snoopy's Junction is now. Anybody remember what they were called? 18 Quote
CharleyTheDinosaur Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Baba Looey's Buggies Thanks. I went a good 20 years without going into Planet Snoopy/Nickelodeon Universe/Hanna Barbara Land. I just did a search for them and had no idea those things were around as recently as they were. 3 Quote

CharleyTheDinosaur Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Apparently, I was very excited to see Snagglepuss. I think I frightened that blond child with my enthusiasm. 15 Quote
silver2005 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 2 questions regarding that 70's photo that jandyb79 posted- 1. What was in that big bubble between the Eiffel Tower and Racer? 2. How long did they keep that canvas cover around the mini-carousels in HB land? 2 Quote
The Interpreter Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 The big bubble is the original Kings Island Theater. It was air supported, and eventually was removed after it collapsed. Large fans produced the air that supported the structure. 7 Quote
jandyb79 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Here is an interesting piece form my collection. This is a KI "Apple Award" as I have been told. Kings Island employees had great incentive to do a great job and for every good recommendation they received on their name, awards were given as recognition for their service. Believe it or not, a car was the top prize for the employee with the most positive marks on their name. This award is comprised of a marble/resin plaque with an engraved mural of the park and the 1981 feature attractions. Enjoy 25 Quote
Millslite Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 These were a little beat up, but they scanned. This was either the opening year, but no later than the 1973 season. The first picture is my sister, Lambsy and me. There is even a classic tram in the background. The second photo shows that even back in the 70's, I took my driving VERY seriously. 17 Quote
rcwizard13 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 TheBEASTunchained, thanks for creating this thread. Having all these ancient photos in one place is very nice. I'm not old enough for these pics to bring back memories, but it sure is nice to imagine the park back then. It really does seem like a better place then than it is now. 7 Quote
stinky Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 What year did the trams go away? I hadn't thought about it before, but I don't think their lanes haven't been changed or removed, have they? Because I still feel odd walking that area, looking to make sure one isn't coming. Quote
The Interpreter Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I believe the trams were removed after the 2002 season. The tram circle remains. 2 Quote
