Bansheeback Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Don specifically said he didn't think that racer was going anywhere, as it is in the top 5 of yearly ridership. BlondyRidesOn Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 He might have said that so nothing gets leaked prematurely. But I hope what he says is true. 3 Quote
Bansheeback Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 He wouldn't betray Racer like that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 6 Quote
dwitb Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Hmmm, it would be interesting: Cool concept. 4 Quote
gforce1994 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Guys The Racer is getting reversed. I have several reasons why. 1. Two things being removed. We took it wrong, the "two things" could be rides, or PARTS OF RIDES (trains). 2. What trains are replacing our set of two trains? Thanks Carowinds for two trains. 3. Why are these two trains important? I believe The Racer was made to run forwards again, since the head rest was not supported by the train body. KD's had more supported headrests, but not to the degree that Thunder Road did. Supposedly, this lack of support may have affected liabilities with insurance. 3 Quote
malem Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I might just have to squeeze in a visit tomorrow, to make it three KI announcements in a row. If so, I have a lot of work to get done tonight. Just in case anyone near me (Columbus) wants to go and split the gas, let me know. 7 Quote
BlondyRidesOn Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I thought of that being a possibility. But the problem is that Kings Island is getting two trains from Thunder Road, which had four cars each. If one side of The Racer is getting their trains replaced by Thunder Roads former trains, it wouldn't be fair, as the trains on The Racer run with five cars, unless both sides are each getting a new train, but then it would become a capacity nightmare. Diamondback96 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 If the Thunder Road trains are PTCs, then they cannot be run backwards to my understanding. 1 Quote
WindingSon Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Pack it in fellas, Indy Star leaked it. They're rebuilding Son of Beast with a loop. 25 Quote
Thrill_Biscuit Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 That was worth a few snickers. Again! Somebody stop me! 11 Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I think the thing it'll miss most is making eye contact with others before the pseudo "race," but we all know that the fun really starts once you come to a complete stop. Out with the old. 4 Quote
Logan Goddard Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Like I have said I don't think The Racer will be removed if anything it will go back to running reverse or a refurb. 2 Quote

homestar92 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Not that I'm really qualified to comment, as I never got a chance to ride Son of Beast, but I've heard very mixed reviews regarding its layout. Some really loved it. Some found it to be incredibly mediocre. EDIT: Nevermind, you were suggesting a redesigned layout. That would be something entirely different. Quote
Logan Goddard Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I liked S.O.B but I think a new layout would work better maybe deigned by RMC to be a much more reliable coaster and take it to the next step. Also I feel the next woodie they will get will be in 2022 for the 50th anniversary. Quote

homestar92 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Those who know don't talk, and those who talk don't know, as is often repeated here. My prediction is that something is being added and/or something is getting removed and/or something is being changed, and we'll find out the specifics tomorrow. And you can quote me on that if I'm right 14 Quote

Nick_Plummer Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 75 user(s) are reading this topic Wow I've never seen a topic this popular before lol! I don't have any clue what KI could be announcing tomorrow but if I had to guess, it could be relating to a certain Tower Gardens. Has it been around since '72? If not I'm totally wrong about it. 8 Quote

Browntggrr Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I have been bummed with the removal of KCKC & the Antique Cars. But variations of each can be found at other parks. Racer though? This one would sting for quite a long time. Business is business, and often times it sucks and tastes like garbage. I hope for a redo to how Racer was back in the mid/ late 70's. Hope. 6 Quote
Thrill_Biscuit Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Quoting BoddaH: "I meant what I said and I said what I meant." We're getting a Popeye attraction? 6 Quote
bjcolglazier Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I go back and see one post from BoddaH1994 saying, "I'm hearing rumblings about two things from 1972...". And then the 'two things' theory took off from there. Does anyone else have reason to believe the 'two things' suggestion has merit beyond that one post? Or did everyone just run with it? 4 Quote
