Interim Healthcare signs on as a sponsor. Nothing in the article mentions sponsorship money in any form going to A Kid Again, which leads me to believe it is not. This does not jeopardize the importance or the integrity of the auction, but it does feel kind of dirty.

Correction:

Sponsorship money goes to A Kid Again.

Money raised by the more than 700 participants representing 24 states and Canada along with sponsor donations has surpassed $90,000 since fundraising for the charity auction began Jan. 23.

We wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support of A Kid Again, and the Orion First Riders auction at Kings Island. To date, it is one of the most successful fundraising events in the park’s history.

By now you may have heard that Kings Island’s opening day is postponed, and may be wondering how this will affect the Orion First Riders Event.

We have been continuously monitoring and following regional and national health directives related to COVID-19 and we want to keep you informed on how these events will impact our park schedule. Currently, it is our hope to open Kings Island mid-May or as soon thereafter as possible. We believe this decision is in the best interest of our associates, our guests, and our community. As our opening date gets closer, we will provide you with more updates and details about the First Riders Auction Event.

We appreciate your support during this ever-evolving situation. Your loyalty to our park is invaluable. We look forward to seeing you soon.

This is not directed at anybody, but before posting your disappointment and say something you may regret later, please at least consider what I posted on the first page when this was announced.

Yes, but with all the usual stipulations about weather, mechanical issues, protein spills etc.  Things will not go perfectly.

This is not directed at you HandsUp, but everyone please understand this is a charity event.  If you go into this with the positive attitude you raised/donated to a worthy cause and probably got to have some fun in the process, this will be a positive experience.  If you go in to it with the transactional ride warrior attitude and expect you are buying 4 or 5 rides an hour and anything less will **** you off, make you feel conned or want your money back, then that will likely happen and this event is really not for you.  Investigate one of the VIP tours instead.

There is no guarantee you will get to ride even one time, things happen.  4 thousand people could register and you are lucky to get one ride in while waiting 3 hours.  Be OK with that possible outcome.  There are few worse looks than asking for your money back from a charity, that is like Bond Villain bad.

Well  something happened, something much larger than Orion.
