PKI' s 2005 Season Calendar list

Featured Replies

It sure seems like they plan on having FearFest again. And there is no sign of Winterfest since they will be open the first weekend in November. Only time will tell for sure. I`m sure those hours are subject to change and they could still do Winterfest.

They always put the disclamer that hours are subject to change. Who knows, maybe they'll suprise us in August or something and say no Fearfest but yes Winterfest. I never got to make it to a Winterfest. It'd be cool to see all those lights and stuff that they put up and everything.

Uh... if you look at the calender closely it appears to be a little messed up. Or last year's calendar. Opening weekend of Saturday April 9, thru Monday April 11th? Or the next weekend of Sunday April 17th and Monday April 18th?

Problem solved: that is the 2004 season calendar. It hasn't been fixed yet.

Are you sure about that? Thats the 2005 Season Hours man..... rolleyes.gif

well, the days are EXACTLY the same as the 2004 one, i think they have it messed up.

Yep, you are correct. The calendar on PKI`s site states that it is the 2005 calendar. However, all the dates are the same ones that appeared on the 2004 calendar. So in short it is the 2004 calendar, but they changed the title to say the 2005 calendar, and thus the website does not list the 2005 operating schedule. So, Winterfest in 2005 and a shorter Fear Fest are still a possibility. Nice catch PKIDelirium!

Not to make anyone mad but I have been hearing that FearFest will be shortened this year or they might not have it at all...Iam happy that PKI might be bringing back something more family themed.

No fearfest??? It's too popular to not do it...

Yeah but the main crowd that attends FearFest is Jr High School kids and up its not really for the family crowd like WinterFest would be but we will know soon if Fearfest happens or not.

They will have Fear Fest. Why wouldnt they its packed everytime! Is crazy!

Yeah they may have it but it will be shorter or it wont happen at all we will just have to wait and see.Just remember Winterfest was HIGHLY popular and they did away with it.

Maybe they want to make WinterFest a surprise for everybody.

but now, with The Beach getting tons of people for their Holiday Fest, PKI wants to compete,

I for one think that if they shortened the Fear Fest season a couple weekends, they would still get a good crowd into the parks. If they are worried about not enough days for people to enjoy the attractions, then they could open it up on Fridays like they used to. I think a return of Winterfest would be appreciated by many. Especially, if season passes are valid, or allow a significant discount into Winterfest. I definantly think the park would benefit from reopening Winterfest. I also think they can pull both off, but it would mean a shorter FearFest season. I for one hope it happens next year, but only time will tell.

Winterfest was cool but if they bring it back it will need more spunk than it had. Grant it I was only 12 when I went to it last but it was bora bora if you know what I mean.

Winter fest the park doesn't have any rides open so I dont see what the big deal is. Its like the festvial of lights at the zoo. At least I think. Don't get me wrong I am 100% for bringing back Winter fest.

  • 2 weeks later...

For your information, Winterfest used to have some rides open. The Carousel, Dodgems, Smurf ride, and the Kings Island and Miami Valley Railroad were all open.

The have finally placed the actual, correct 2005 calendar online (instead of just calling the 2004 calendar 2005!). It appears as if FearFest will be back and run the entire month of October, with the park now being open until 10 on Sundays, like in 2003, instead of 9, like last year. While they eliminated the weekend in November, they usually don`t list that this early anyway, so I`d guess thay Winterfest will not be occuring this year, unless shortening the season by one weekend allows for enough time to prepare for Winterfest. (They could always change the schedule later in the season.) One can always hope that Winterfest will return in 2005 right?

One thing I found odd, is that Saturdays in July and August, the park is now open until midnight, and on Fridays in July and August (save for right before labor day), they are now open until 11! Do they have special event planned these days, or are they just anticipating longer crowds/more money from in park sales from being open later?

Could be anything... my guess is that the late nights were simply popular.

November sixth and seventh weren't even added to the calendar until early October. But hopefully they stay open that extra weekend. It was nice to end the season on a non Fearfest day. I don't reallly like all the spooky stuff - it makes the park feel dead - and I like it to be a happy place! rolleyes.giflaugh.gif

The longer hours look good to me. I think they liked doing that this past summer when the park was at or near capacity. I think it happened 2 or 3 times last summer. Hopefully, many people will still think the park closes at 11, that way those of us that care, can ride til 12. I think most people will still start leaving at 11, and with an hour increase they can justify the price of admission increase.

Is the price being increased? huh.gif

I will enjoy the later hours. Plus if Winterfest opens it will be awesome. Its not like there are any spectacular rides to ride - but its something to do.

Well, I honestly hope that there is some information about Winterfest in August (which is just the time when they start pushing sales for passes for the next year). Fear Fest did not occur the final weekend the park was open this year in November either. I hope that FearFest returns. It would be nice to get in at least a ride in the long winter months in Ohio!

Probably Xtended Play events like last year, or something similar that is special event.

Yeah, but for some of us, Xtended play was a living censored.gif . Let's just hope that the guests behave themselves at most of the events.

But didn`t the park end up canceling all the extended play events last year because of problems, and remained open until midnight? I know I was at the park a Friday in July when it closed at midnight, and people left the park in droves after the fireworks went off at 11 and the park was still open for another hour!
