CoastersRZ
Accoriding to RCDB.com, Paramount`s Kings Dominion will rename their children`s coasters this season. Topcat`s Taxi Jam will now be known as Hey Arnold`s Taxi Jam. And Scooby`s Ghoster Coaster will now be known as Fairly Odd Coaster, in reference to the Fairly Oddparents. That name has got to be one of the weirdest names for a coaster! Anyway, does this mean that Paramount has begun to phase out all the Hanna Barbera cartoons (with the exception of the Scooby rides?). Could PKI see name changes like this for rides, and see Scooby`s Ghoster Coaster changed? Scooby`s Ghoster Coaster is fairly close to Nick Central. Pirate of PKI
That is really weird. I sure hope PKI doesn't follow that... I think Top Cat and Scooby Doo are both good theming.
The-Snapper
It will suck if they get rid of the great themed rides we have I love AHnnah Barbara
Alien Seed
why did they have to change Ghoster Coaster's name? I thought Paramount gets to keep Scooby a little longer than the rest of the HB characters.
Pirate of PKI
I dunno but "The Fairly Odd Coaster" is a horrible name.
Scooter4Ever
It probably is a sign that Hanna-Barbara is being phased out. But this won't affect Scooby's Castle. That is a licensing deal through Sally. Sally holds the license for that ride featuring that character and can put it into any park they want. Evidenced by Scooby's castle at Six Flags parks. They also can now do it for Marvel characters. And while Top Cat is not shown on Cartoon Network, I am sure Paramount would rather promote their own characters from networks they own. teenageninja
I can see them changing Taxi Jam to Hey Arnold's Taxi Chase, and Scooby's Ghoster Coaster to Fairly Odd Coaster, but they may keep it until their liscense runs out in a couple of years. PKIDelirium
I'd say that's a Fairly Odd Name
PKI_Diana
I see it happening at all paramount parks, including pki
RollerNut
Sad to say but I think Carowinds is going to follow, along with all of the Paramount Parks. We are now seeing the end of Hanna-Barbera. I actually like the name "Fairly Odd Coaster" as for Hey Arnold's Taxi Jam. At least we can still call it Taxi Jam. RIP Hanna-Barbera Land(PKD and Carowinds) 1975-2004 However I think PKI will hold off another season leaving ya'll one last year with them. Scooby_Doo
WOW I have heard rumors stating that Hey Arnold would be the new theme to Taxi Jam but Fairly Odd coaster thats just wrong in so many ways!
flightoffear1996
So what happens when to SDATHC once paramount is no longer able to use Scooby Doo?
Scooby_Doo
It gets re-themed to Nick...Iam thinking it will most likely be themed to Spongebob or something I dunno.
RollerNut
My question is where is the information coming from. PKD's website still list them as Taxi Jam and Scooby-Doo. Could the information gotten mixed up and it was ment to be Carowinds because Carowinds is the only park that has said they are expanding Nickelodeon Central. Plus PKD's Haunted Mansion is in Kidzville, so wouldn't it be out of place in Nickelodeon Central.

Great America Guy
I don't think it would matter if SDATHC was out of place in Nick Central. Look at TRTR in Rivertown, FOF in Coney, AE in Oktoberfest, and SOB in AZ. Paramount hasn't had any problem in the past with this, and I don't think they'll start now. Even though it will be sad to see the Hanna Barbera toons go, you have to admit that it is time for a change. About 80% of kids these days would look at you like you were an idiot if you asked them who Top Cat, Dick Dastardly, Alley Cat, and Quickdraw were. I'm not too sure about what they'd go with for Scooby's Ghoster Coaster, but hopefully Beastie would be left alone. And count me up as one of those who actually likes "Fairly Odd Coaster". italianchef
I am an ardent admirer of Hanna-Barbera cartoons and was very sad to see PKI pull the characters (sans Scooby Doo) from walking around the park. However, let's face reality: 1. Paramount's Parks license for Hanna-Barbera (sans Scooby Doo) expires in approximately 2 years. They ought to start making changes now and not wait to alter everything until the last minute. 2. Both Paramount's Parks and Nickelodeon are owned by Viacom and Hanna-Barbera is owned by Warner Brothers. Paramount's Parks would rather use their own characters for free than pay a competitor for its characters. 3. Most of today's youth are very familiar with Nickelodeon but don't know much about Hanna-Barbera except for Scooby Doo. Sure there are exceptions thanks to Boomerang and Hanna-Barbera loving parents like me who show videos to their children. But most kids today prefer Nickelodeon. Hence, knowing the inevitable, I think from a business sense all Paramount's Parks, including PKI, should start re-naming and re-theming their Hanna Barbera rides as Nickelodeon rather than change everything at the last minute. Just my opinion anyway. It would be nice if they would give the Hanna-Barbera character costumes and ride props to fans like me since they won't be able to use them anymore. But that is wishful thinking, not realistic. Have a great off season! Italian Chef
Pirate of PKI
Very good points, chef. I am mostly sad about Top Cat, if it is changed to Hey Arnold's Taxi Jam we will never see TC again. .

TheRickster
Think if you were a kid today. Would you rather see charecters you dont know or would you rather see things after your very favorite cartoons. These kids know the nick charecters just like we all knew HB. Its their time to have all the kiddy memorys of PKI, and our time to have the grown up/family memories and the teenage hangout memories. I dont see them renaming beastie cause it is just to recognized in the area and brings in a already big crowd, however our ghoster coaster (if it has that much longer in the park to begin with) I could see it getting changed around. It does actually fit the ride name The Fairly Odd Coaster. (which I do like the name!) But anyways everyone has their memories of being a kid at pki. They become memories for everyone. (alot in hb has obviously changed) The park wants a goods kids area and for kids to have alot of fun when they come. The kids love spongebob and the fairly odd parents more than anything else cartoon wise. So im taking it all with open arms cause I know it isnt going to effect me. I have my memories and now I know many more kids will have special memories to.
PkiJake13
I remember riding Top Cat when it was called Scooby Zoom. -Jake
M & M Productions
I won't get all excited about them renaming rides, it's when they start removing rides and not replacing any, that's when I'll start getting nervous.
UncleHenry
Italian Chef is right, we must move past our losses. flightoffear1996
Yea RCDB only has trusted facts on it. I knew that this day would come when PKI would have to get rid of all the Hanna Barba cartoons. I think Nick has some good cartoons just like like the classics. King Bowser
How very sad but oh well I like most of nick but NOTall of nick!! I know there are 3 basic cartoons kids love thats Spongebob,Fairly OddParents & Scooby Doo(minus the anime crap kids watch today)I welcome Nick Central with open arms because I was a Nick/HB kid growing up I wanna see more Spongebob in PKI. RollerNut
SpongeBob, yuck. That is one messed up cartoon. I like Neutron and OddParents. But nothing can take the place of Scooby-Doo. If I ever have kids, I will have to block Nickelodeon, cause by that time. My favorites will be all gone.
King Bowser
Well with the upcoming Yogi Bear & Jetsons live-action movies coming within the next two years I dont think HB will be wiped out all the way you can still see HB characters at most six flags I know most of the known popular HB characters are at those certain parks like-The Flintstones-Scooby Doo-The Jetsons-Yogi Bear-HuckleBerry Hound-Quick Draw McGraw-Top Cat. So HB will be gone from Paramount Parks yeah but HB will still be around WB is making new movies based on those popular HB cartoons and I know WB is also making new HB cartoons to be shown on Kids WB in Fall 2006-Spring 2007 plus the older cartoons are coming out on DVD as part of the Hanna-Barbera Collection w/ new merch like shirts,Boxers etc.
RollerNut
plus the older cartoons are coming out on DVD as part of the Hanna-Barbera Collection Yes, I can get the old "Scooby-Doo, where are you?"cartoons! Rooby-Rooby-Roo!
KIBeast
Wow, I can't believe I'm actually going to agree with Uncle Henry. The same people who are saying move on certainly did not want to do so when it came to the campgrounds or the Eagles.
