I'll fully admit my basic self absolutely loved this and wish they would bring it back for one of the fall food items This is the best answer, although the pumpkin beignets are absolutely killer as well. A food truck festival seems like it would be a great way to bring in some extra cash with just the tiniest bit of investment into getting it started again. I believe the artisan vendors they have during Winterfest are easy enough money for the park since they all have to pay a vendor fee. I'd suppose it'd be the same for food trucks. Orion-XL200
The problem with that is that they don't accept meal plans...so how much money would the food truck vendors bring in? I know there are folks that do not have the dining plans, but every time I've seen a food truck in the park, they've not had a line.

I don't think it would matter to the park how much money those food trucks make during the event as long as they don't have to refund the vendor fees. I'd bet the old popcorn wagons were sold or destroyed and replaced with the small snack stands we see today.

If a vendor doesn't make $ they either will leave early (if possible) or not come back the following day. I've done a lot of work with food truck vendors within festivals and they are very particular on how much traffic/money they have. If they don't accept a meal plan, those with meal plans are less likely to patronize their truck. Now, there could be additional folks who don't have meal plans that utilize the food trucks, but is it sustainable for them?!? Just thinking out loud.
johnjniehaus
I NEED them to bring back the 7 LAYER CREPE CAKE at Grain and Grill. That thing was the best amusement park dessert I think I have ever had other than Dollywood cinnamon bread!

I dont think food trucks that do not accept the meal plan are sustainable at KI. To your point, as much as I and maybe some others without a meal plan or pass in general enjoy things like that to have a different or off the wall option, it doesnt fit KIs guest demographic of majority local passholders who likely DO have the meal plan. Im not sure how the ones at CP performed, but if they did not succeed there with that different demographic, then odds of them surviving here are... IMHO... below low.
Orion-XL200
I've been to CP 14 times so far this season and there have been 0 food trucks. For Halloweekends there may be some. They have done okay in the past, but the regular park restaurants have longer lines.
kingsislandfan1972
I wonder how well sushi would sell in the park, I'm not sure if any amusement park does, but I love sushi and I would love to see it at KI!
Tr0y
I think a dedicated popcorn store like what Magic Kingdom has in its Main Street Confectionery would sell like hotcakes at KI. You get to pick the popcorn flavor, and select toppings you’d like with it. There is also seasonal flavors and flavors for special events. It’s a perfect take home snack and as I’ve witnessed, line speaks for itself:
