I’m not sure who the original poster is, but I’ve heard this from a few places. It’s possible that Kings Dominion WinterFest may holding its last ever event this weekend.

No word on whether Kings Island will have WinterFest 2025.

Buy your Silver Pass.

I'm not buying any pass to Six Flags for 2025.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was KD's last season with Winterfest. If the rumor is true of it not returning next season, it all but signifies they are raising the white flag. Their Winterfest event can't compete with BGW's Christmas Town an hour down the street...

So if it is true, is showing 2025 unlimited visits to WF false advertising or a bait and switch or simply caveat emptor?

Is that Winterfest 2024 or 2025?

Exactly!

Their legal team will imply that was the rest of 2024 WF; conversely, since it is for a 2025 pass, the purchaser is assuming it is for 2025 WF.

Caveat Emptor

Probably helping to hide Kings Island’s 2025 calendar.

Buy your Silver Pass.

California's Great America, which is apparently not having WinterFest in 2025, makes the distinction that a 2025 Gold Pass applies to the 2024 WinterFest:

And they don't get tricks n treats, Oktoberfest etc, correct?

What about this post.  One could argue the 2nd bullet is intended for 2025?  Except for the legal folks that is...

Spot the difference.

Don’t forget, Kings Island only released their calendar through Labor Day.

Taken from a FB page.  They are so nice:

So, they take away Winterfest to "enhance" the guest experience during their 50th? Seems like that takes away from the magic of 50 years. Of course, they always cover up the bad news with something good.

They're like:

Yes! Come buy season passes, especially Gold Passes because it comes with Winterfest!

A little later...

Well, we cut out Winterfest to "enhance" guest experience, especially since it's our 50th.

To try and make you less mad, we'll give you 50% off any one merchandise item (even though only certain items count). You can even get 50% Rapterra merch! (but it's already going to be crazy expensive, so we still make a profit!)

We understand that you might be upset, but we want to improve the park! (by not having Winterfest)

Plus, Rapterra is coming!

Sorry for the rant:PJust don't like this decision.

Doesn't really make sense. Yes, they want to save money and not have to pay employees, (even though they are already understaffed) but I bet many KD fans are and will be very mad at the park.

I almost feel that the new Six Flags is trying to make every park mad at them (Great Adventure-Kingda Ka, California's Great America-Special Events Cancellations, Kings Dominion-Winterfest, Cedar Point-TT2,) How many more parks are they going to make mad before things start to look up? This new merger hasn't pleased many people. That is, the enthusiasts or park-goers. Shareholders are happy.

I don't know what I'd do if KI got rid of Winterfest. I might seriously "revoke my pass immediately" :P

Not that it means anything, but it looks like Cedar Point is the only park in the Six Flags Midwest Region that has released their events for 2025. Every other park in this Region either has no events listed yet or they have Education Days and Grad Nite (which I think was only shown on SF Great America's website).

East Region: Carowinds, Six Flags Over Georgia, Great Adventure, Great Escape, Six Flags Over Texas, and Six Flags Fiesta Texas have all posted their events. Dorney Park still has last year's events/event dates listed. It's also notable that Kings Dominion's passes are all the same prices without Winterfest as they were with it...

West Region: It looks like Knott's is the only park that has any events listed so far.

I'm hopeful that the company deems Kings Island worthy of keeping/expanding it's events, but I also hope that parks across the chain don't get the short end of the stick like CGA and KD have gotten so far.
