DonHelbig Posted Thursday at 02:59 PM Posted Thursday at 02:59 PM Six Flags Entertainment Corporation has taken another major step in reshaping its business strategy. The company announced it has entered into definitive agreements to sell seven parks to EPR Properties for $331 million in cash, a move that reflects a broader effort to streamline operations, strengthen its balance sheet, and focus resources on its highest-performing destinations. https://themeparksbydon.com/six-flags-selling-seven-parks-portfolio-strategy/ 1 Quote
johnjniehaus Posted Thursday at 03:10 PM Posted Thursday at 03:10 PM Interesting take Don. I'm just curious if you really think the parks have a bright future when the other parks owned by EPR are not in great shape... 2 Quote

I’m looking at this through the lens of opportunity. 1 Quote

jzarley Posted Thursday at 06:34 PM Posted Thursday at 06:34 PM Unless I missed it in the FUN press release (which is possible), I didn’t see any mention of how Six Flags plans to utilize the $342m received from the sale (minus the normal sales expenses of course). It would only be a tiny hit to their current $5B+ in outstanding debt, but a tiny hit is at least something. However, the cynic in me fears that it will be used for stock repurchases… I had zero knowledge of Enchanted Parks (which, I guess before this deal there wouldn’t be much reason for me to)—I was surprised to see that their corporate HQ is like 4 miles from my house 🙂. I’m assuming Enchanted is comprised of principals who came from one of the Orlando “big 3”? Quote
Orion-XL200 Posted Friday at 02:07 PM Posted Friday at 02:07 PM This is still weird to see, "Kings Island owner Six Flags..." 1 Quote

They did confirm in the press release https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20260304540073/en/Six-Flags-Further-Streamlines-Its-Portfolio-With-Agreements-to-Divest-Seven-Parks that "Cash proceeds, after taxes and transaction expenses, will be used to pay down debt." 1 Quote
BeeastFarmer Posted Friday at 07:36 PM Posted Friday at 07:36 PM Will Schlitterbahn ( either Six Flags or Enchanted) have to rebrand? Or do you think the name will stay on both properties? I've never been, but it seems to me that the Schlitterbahn name could be valuable. They paid around 270 million for both of them if I remember correctly and it was in 2019. That's approximately $332 million today. Either the retained water park is worth a whole lot of money or the company way overpaid for two water parks. Quote
Orion-XL200 Posted Friday at 09:18 PM Posted Friday at 09:18 PM Guessing New Braunfels will retain the name as it is being invested in by Six Flags and Galveston is a different “market.” 1 Quote
disco2000 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Wonder which park(s) becomes an AI data center as the land is more valuable for that than an amusement park.... 1 Quote
