  1. According to CP Rundown on FB, there has been reports of recent activity around TTD: - there is a JLG near the brake run - some landscape bushes have been removed near TTD that can be seen from ID - some blue spray paint markings have been seen in the midway North of TTD station & near TTD photo booth. (blue paint typically means water lines) - the tower lights were on for the first time last night These observations could mean a variety of things from moving the queue line to removing the ride.
  2. Should have escorted them out of line. Last offense is escort them out of the park.
  3. Its nauseating that every time opinions differ, one side has to pull the discrimination card. It waters down true discrimination.
  4. Looking at previous park map attraction list, Phantom Theater was part of Hanna Barbara Land under both KECO & Paramount. The current park map lists Boo Blasters as part of Planet Snoopy. https://qr1.be/Q021
  5. I get that parks want/ need to do something after incidents like this and want as little media attention as possible, but after seeing the Disney melee last week- the issue is not just a teen thing. I think parks should put these people on blast. Let it be known for everyone to see what happened & that the result will be lifetime expulsion and the world will see why. It's far from a perfect solution & I'm not sure if there is one.
  6. Articles like that give such a personal touch it's hard not to appreciate Don & his team.
  7. Thinking even further.... Leaving the line and trying to reclaim your position in line is line jumping, but, this line wasn't for a ride, it was for a performance that everyone will be enjoying at the same time. Allowing her to pass would not result in the opposing family waiting any longer. Sometimes being so rigid in thinking clouds good judgement.
  8. A few observations: - There are no innocent victims here. Both sides are in the wrong. - guest left the line to get her phone & assumed to resume her place in line. This is line jumping. - some understanding is needed by the family that would not let her pass & supposedly pushed her back. It's only one guest & she was already in-line. Is it really that big of a deal? - All this over a forgotten phone? You can't (or shouldn't) use it during the performance anyway. A little communication when you were leaving the line could have solved all the problems. - guy in green t-shirt deserves to be in jail. Sucker punching a woman? Special place in hell for you pal. - the family of the line jumper waited till the end of the performance to confront the other family. I bet they really enjoyed Mickey's PhilharMagic with this on their mind. As they say at Disney: LET IT GO.
  9. I absolutely love dark rides, I just do not know if a seasonal park can justify the cost for a brand new one in today's World. I keep going back to Curse of DarKastle at BGW. It was a fantastic ride, but fell out of popularity due to technology passing it by rather quickly. For comparison, Spider-Man debut at Universal in '99 for a reported $100,000,000 and was overhauled in 2011 with new mechanics & digital projectors. I could not find a cost associated DarKastle but I imagine it was not close to that of Spider-Man (which is probably why BGT never installed a dark ride, the comparisons to rides in Orlando would be brutal). The other downfall I saw was and the story was not part of pop culture like Spider-Man. That popularity can make up for technology passing it up. Perhaps the cost of these rides will decrease as technology flattens out, one can only dream!
  10. As mentioned earlier, RMC responded with an interesting Tweet:
  11. Similar incident at Waldameer in Erie, PA Last week. It nauseates me that a select few makes everything about themselves and ruins it for everyone else.
  12. ^ I personally believe TTD has given it's last ride. There are no trains on the track for testing. There are no signs of the cars anywhere on park property. If there are design changes to the brake run, I would have expected some type of work and testing to be going on. I would also have expected the redesign to include the queue line & barrier on brake run. Or CF is just taking the high road & waiting till 2023 for the dust to settle as well as what I would assume is a civil lawsuit from the victim to also be settled. Reports on her well being have been incredibly quiet. I hope she is recovering or has recovered.
  13. Due to limited spaces for material handling on the peninsula, this area next to the Express Hotel could be used for a couple things: - staging area for construction materials for boardwalk project (due to supply chain issues, I can understand why the park would want to control their own destiny and have the materials stored on their property). - staging area for new ride parts - staging area for ride parts that may be removed and/ or equipment for removing those parts (possible TTD removal?). - all the above or non of the above.... One thing is certain, that large of fenced in area with covering is going to be used for something big & numerous.
  14. Like DB's visual box of phones that are considered experienced riding phones, parks need to start showing video of actual guests being escorted out for breaking park rules on every park monitor. The days of giving guests with entitlement issues a 2nd chance need to be over.
  15. Being in CA, it's not only about available land at a "decent" price (which is unheard of in CA) but new structures being in line with new engineering for earthquakes. Combine both those & I would venture to guess the price tag would easily more than double the income made selling the current park land.
  16. The building of Levi stadium & sharing the parking lot was the beginning of the end for the park. The park was not open during 49er home games which are at least 9 to 12 games per year depending on the preseason schedule & possible playoff games. This makes me wonder if the park was closed during other events: college football, soccer, concerts etc. High operating expenses, landlocked, uneven operating schedule for typical high volume days plus a generous offer for the land? A smart business decision was made for the majority of stockholders that will benefit the company as a whole in future years.
  17. It should also be noted that rides are being stopped for guests having their phone out and could easily be misinterpreted as a breakdown.
  18. I believe many of the breakdown of rides (not just at KI) are due to numerous safety measures being put into place. The more sensors/ prox switches, the more opportunity for rides to go down. We use many sensors & prox switches in manufacturing and it does take a good while for things to "hum" consistently. To have a ride get to the point that all the sesnors/ prox switches are humming together seems like it wouldn't be difficult but with: weather changes, constant vibrations & "fixing" vs. "replacing" due to lack of resources (manpower OR equipment) some patience may be needed on our part.
  19. That project is going to require lots of glue & duct tape.
  20. It's bad that an accident of this magnitude happened. Park & guests are lucky that it was not worse. I wonder if the recent track replacement have anything to do with the wheel failure (possible alignment issues??) or was it failed tubular track that caused the accident? Failed tubular track on older Arrows is not exactly uncommon- Magnum had a decent amount of track replaced in-season recently. Vortex reached end of service life- track fatigue likely played a large factor into that decision. When BBW was closed the reasons were very similar to that of Vortex.
  21. On CP FB fan pages there has been more acknowledgement & pics of guests being escorted from the park for having their phones out on rides. Some of those who have been booted have given a 1 star google review to voice their displeasure of not being granted a warning. EDIT:
  22. "My dog can't go into a kennel for a day, he has PTSD and it is too traumatic to be around other dogs." ......leaves dog in hot car to die....... Can't fix stupid.
  23. Why would new/ refreshed entrance require a larger footprint than it already is? I believe the current entrance area is bigger than necessary. The original design was for trams to be used to bring guests to their cars.
  24. If there was a real clearing of trees/ brush etc. for some type of project I would have expected the entire area to be cleared by now.
