I should come to Kings Island in a suit and buy a dino dig hard hat from Dinosaurs Alive, get a clipboard and stand in front of SOB and pretend to take 'measurements'. Do they even allow visitors to wear business suits to Kings Island? But then again, who would want to in the middle of summer? lol3 points

I just love ready posts by people that are not engineers giving expert opinions on the structural stability of the ride. Well, I am not an engineer but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.3 points

Why do the noobs think it's necessary to make a new topic when a ride simply closes for a few hours.....2 points

And sometimes a guy in a suit or a black polo with a business name on it may be only a park visitor. Terp, who knows these things, somehow (and who wears a button down shirt and silk tie on casual Fridays....honest!)2 points

I've said it in a lot of threads that I'll always take theming over thrills. But parks that have a perfect median of the two are even better.2 points

To touch on a couple of things, when he said "a wednesday" I'm pretty sure he was just joking around, but we'll know for sure by the following thursday. If rust on steel was a sign of impending collapse, there are some residents in Kenwood and driving down I-71 that need to get out of dodge. Unless you're standing next to the structure, you have no idea how warped the wood actually is (if its warped at all) If I was in the final stages of negotiating a deal to perform maintance or demolition of SOB's structure, I'd likely have a crew of my own employees, on my own dime, walk the site to check for things that could affect our final bid number. If, and I'll say that's a pretty big if, people were seen "working" on SOB, they could have been mearly inspecting the structure/track to gauge their future work on that ride. That same inspection could raise or lower their price significantly enough to for King's Island to further delay their next decision on SOB. Mother nature is most often not the best demolition crew. Mother Nature may destroy something, but it rarely cares about where the destroyed structure lands or what kind of destruction those falling pieces do. The destruction is the easy part, its the clean up that is costly. Only a controled demolition will allow for the cheapest cleanup and re-use of the materials in the ride possible. Well that or hiring David Blaine to just make it dissapear.2 points

So my girlfriend and I decided to take a short trip out to the park on Friday night for a relaxing evening. I was having a major lower back flare up from an issue resulting from a car accident back in 2004. Since I was in pain, I knew I wouldn't be riding too much, but we decided to go anyway and just enjoy the park. We arrived about 7:30 and the first thing we did was ride Boo Blasters. I'm not a huge fan, but I kinda started a park tradition way back when it was Phanton Theater to ride whatever dark ride that was in that building at least once whenver I visit. From there we pretty much just walked around and took in the sights and watched the rides and the people. We stopped briefly to observe the now empty building where the Crypt was and discussed some interesting things that that space could be converted into. A 2-level dark ride anyone??? We ended up around by WindSeeker and decided to take in the Dinosaurs Alive 3-D show since it was free this year. I thought the movie was pretty good and the 3-D was amazing. I was kind of disappointed that they removed the motion seat because now they don't have the option of having any more motion movie attractions anymore. From there was decided to walk down to the Monster and give that a spin...literally! Now, I love roller coasters and anything with a huge drop, but I get a little motion sick when I'm spun around and around too much. However, I decided that it didn't look too bad and decided to ride it! Well, I think our car spun consistently the entire ride without stopping! So much for that ride! lol. That might be the last time I try that, unfortunately. After that we pretty much just walked around some more and looked in a few shops. By this time the sun was going down and it was starting to get dark and all the lights around the park were coming on! We decided to walk down and see the Peanuts area with all the lights and the characters all lit up. We really enjoy that! We did one final loop back through Planet Snoopy and headed towards the exit and left for the night. When we go to Kings Island we usually always hit up the coasters and have a great (and crazy) time. Very rarely do we just go to the park and enjoy some of the simpler rides and just take in the sights and the atmosphere. I must say that it was a very relaxing and enjoyable evening for the 2 of us, and something that we don't do too often. If you've thrown your back out and don't have a whole lot of time, that makes for a very worthwhile visit!1 point

Yes, they allow business suits at Kings Island. Don't, however, try to wear a Paramount's Carowinds navy polo, purchased from Cedar Fair's Carowinds, with khaki pants. Not unless you want that park's security to tail you throughout the park most of the day, then confront you and accuse you of impersonating a park employee. I should have told them that, like Barton Kinzel, I was impersonating the best qualified person for the GM position!1 point

Are you that brain dead? I was asking about the announcement, not what they are going to do with SOB. Might want to process what you read just a tad longer before making a comment.1 point

That is rather conservative.... Imagine all the: "terrible decision, I'm never going to KI again" on their FB page. If they announce that Son of Beast will never operate again, the park's Facebook would be FLOODED with people saying they'd never visit Kings Island again... The same people who have been visiting for the past three years, even knowing that it would not run on their visits... That's the kind of people we're dealing with.1 point

When and if they ever announce what SOB's fate is... there will be a 50,000 post thread complaining about whatever the decision is.1 point

Jesus would have to perform another miracle for this to happen on July 4, 2012. It IS Jeebusfest this weekend, after all. He might just stick around until Weds... Could be Him, or, could be HIM.1 point

I'm tired of seeing the short shorts worn unfastened and spread open to show that the bottom half of the bikini matches the top half. If I cared whether they match, I would be at Soak City with my Fashion Police citation pad. This summer has also opened my eyes to the prevalence of tattoos. I had no idea they had become so popular. BTW, what is the point of putting a memorial tattoo on your back where you will never see it to remind you of the person it memorializes?1 point

I saw a girl wearing a neon green "class of 2012" shirt and it had cuts along the side and back, white shorts that had half her butt hanging out, and to top it off, some weird, weird styled, let's say boots?1 point

If something actually ends up being announced on Wednesday, then I think somebody will probably also be losing a job Wednesday, if not already. But, he did say that something would be announced on a wednesday at 11AM. If I give the entire 11-11:59 window as still being considered "11 AM", then that leaves 1/7 days and 1/24 hours. 24 * 7 = 168, so in theory, he has a 1/168 chance of being correct, even if that was a 100% fabrication. Math is fun.1 point

I went to this swelter stopper today. I believe that it was actually a RV, it had many TV's and a back room for videos. Once again like the Disney pavilion, they had "ice" as a counter for the cups of cola. The music was ok, a tad bit loud (Where is it not?) in my opinion. All together a good 10 on my scale, I hope the CF-CCP union in KI stays, the Coca-Cola company always finds ways to make me want their product, Pepsi never has, the only product I drink of theirs is the Mountain Dew.1 point

Well, to be frank, the "themed" area of Oktoberfest consists of a Viking ship (whose origins stem from Norway), a coaster set within the confines of a South American archaeological expedition gone horribly awry, a burrito shack, and a restaurant with the facade of a German festival house but with Italian and Chinese entrees, and a set of both country and British-themed musical revues. Actually, I can't even be frank, because they don't sell hot dogs in Oktoberfest!1 point

Firehawk...? Which I've never understood. What is the purpose of not allowing riders to leave bags in the station other than to force people to use lockers? Your items would actually be safer in Firehawk's station than any other coaster station (except the single-train coasters) because there aren't other riders running through the station while you're on the course. They allow flip-flops, prescription glasses, and souvenir cups to be left in the station, so what reason is there that you couldn't leave anything else? Don't give me the response of "Duh, there's no bins"; first, Invertigo does not have bins, yet riders may leave bags in the station, and second, the lack of bins now does not prevent them from installing bins later.1 point

for food at the park, a burger at the park is around $8 with fries and soft drinks are $4. pizza i beieve is $22 for a large. hope you enjoy your trip! see you next fall! (sorry had to)1 point

Diamondback is the newest coaster, and as such is still VERY popular, however, Diamondback has fantastic hourly capacity, and therefore should be saved for after you finish Firehawk and Flight of Fear. Trust me, Though Diamondback's line is often long, it moves very quickly.1 point

Jr - this is what has got you in trouble in this thread. Your first statement comes off as knowing a lot from a conversation with "suits". Then, you drop Don's name with the same no new coaster for years data. Finally, you state it was a quick answer from Greg saying "it doesn't look good for SoB" when posed with a question. I beleive if you'd began with - saw Greg in the park the other day and asked him about SoB; he said it doesn't look good the longer it sits - you'd come across as more realistic. Instead your initial post came off as you trying to sound "insider-ish" with data that seems to be embellished.1 point

I would head straight to FoF and Firehawk and get as many rides in as you want there, then never go back, then head straight to backlot before its line gets crazy, then Beast. Diamondbacks lines move smoothly during the week, usually! If you wanna ride Invertigo, you might wanna get on it first before heading to x-base.Delirium is always having issues,so if you see a short line jump in it! I would see how busy it gets before buying fastlane on a monday. I have seen people buy fastlane on days i was waiting 5 to 10 minutes to ride Diamondback. Also,it has been my experience that at 10 oclock, everyone heads to Diamondback,i would wait till later.I have a goldpass and i know when early ride time is over because people are running to DB,thats when i head to x-base.1 point
