  2. What easter egg? Is SOB the easter Bunny? I thought the B in SOB stood for BEAST! Not Bunny!

  3. I predict that there will be be a new diving show theater for 2013. Yesterday at Happy Halloween Weekends, while in line for the Raven, my boys asked where the dive show was. "It's right over......oh. It's gone." That's right, completely wiped off the map. No concrete, no dive tank visible. No nothing. I did see the benches neatly lined up near the woods, and a bulldozer nearby. Later on the kind employee at Goblin Burger confirmed my suspicions that "they are probably just rebuilding the theater". I hope so, since we always enjoy the dive show.

  4. This may be hard news for Pepsi to swallow: http://micechat.com/forums/knotts-berry-farm-cedar-fair-parks/174871-Pepsi-looses-cedar-fair-contract-Coke-back.html It appears Coke has won the contract for the Cedar Fair parks.

  5. He's saying that the Kings Island Website sometimes is not 100% up to date. Thus, they may have listed Xtreme Skyflyer as closed but in reality it is opened. However, either way TheCrypt was correct: Go to the park and ask them. They have the best and most accurate info.

  7. I miss the marshmallow fog in a manner which can not be expressed in words. Every Halloween Haunt I go without it pains me to no avail. I miss the fog. Severely. It made for great atmosphere when in the parking lot. I love the rest of Haunt though!

  8. For the price I pay for my season pass, I think the themeing is great. I am not really sure what everyone's expectations are here, but as I look over the past 8 years or so I have been going to KI in Octobers, the quality of theming and haunted attractions have really come a long way.

  9. I miss the old fog. Even at Cedar Point the fog isn't as good. I remember the first few years of Halloweekends, the fog over Cedar Point was being picked up on weather radars.

  10. Now this isn't a bad complaint at all. But, my question is, was this supposed to be his character, like in all the other Haunts? (all the other people yell at me, for fun). He was a total DB the night we were there. I just chalked it up to being part of his "Act". Real Pirates weren't exactly nice people. Diamond Back? JK, I knew what you meant!

  11. The only Haunt with breathtaking theming is Madame Fatale's. The rest of the park is a "meh". I don't understand Grimm Boulevard, and Nightmare Alley... Ahh! Eyeball! The fog isn't as heavy as years past, either. Combine that with the fact that it doesn't linger as long, and we're just better off without the fog.

  14. Wow. Talk about poor grammar. Anyways, this should be taken with a grain of salt. Any fansite could take a wild stab and claim that Cedar Fair execs told them that we are getting Coke or Pepsi. It's a 50/50 chance of getting it right, and I think that's what happened here. Rumor.

  15. If it is Coca-Cola thank goodness, as my opinion is only DIET Pepsi, and Mountain dew is good at Pepsi, but KNOTTS will have Coca-Cola back, And if Cedar Fair was smart they would bring more Knotts products to the Flag Ship parks of Cedar Point, KIngs Ilsand, and Maybe Candada, The boysenberry icee is incredible! Coca-Cola will be the real deal winner winner chicken dinner of an answer.

  16. For me being the oldest in our family, you'd think I'd want spend my Friday at a high school football game but unfortunately, my team was away at Fairfield so I went to parky's farm with my family. Parky's Farm has been my favorite place to go ever since I was a kid so I didn't really mind going. The weather was pretty decent with no wind or rain which signaled for a great night. We arrived at the farm and I realized that they jacked up the prices from $5 to $6 but it didn't really make much difference. It was still pretty light when we entered the farm but that didn't damper the Halloween festivities. They had a petting zoo where you could ride ponies and hand feed goats, sheep, alpacas and donkeys for $1. Then we went to this pretty sweet major mirror on the wall that talked to us, (obviously with a guy on the other side of the wall), and gave us candy as well as this fortune teller. After that, it was off for an old-fashioned style hayride in an antique tractor. We traveled into the lighted forest filled with inflatable monsters, lights, fake houses, etc. The ride took a while but it was pretty entertaining seeing all the lights and all the effort that the Hamilton County Park District put into stringing the lights. After that we went into the "creepy critters" barn with various farm animals. Then we walked into the fun house and called it a night. There was one change, however, to the farm. The theater used to occupy a magical magician that was by far my favorite thing there when I was a kid but instead, they played old Casper episodes which kinda bummed me out. All in all it was a great night! Please visit one night if you haven't gone yet because it is a must do family attraction!

  17. In short, yep. I even enjoyed it when it was on its "last leg" in the later years. It is truly a marvel that it ever existed at a seasonal, regional park. Rose colored glasses, perhaps, but I have always and expectedly will always rank it among the top three rides that I've been on. It is, without a doubt, the reason I enjoy theme parks and the impetus that got me started following the park and the industry. I say again that I was truly sad, disheartened, and a little empty when I first rode its replacement. You know you've made an emotional attachment to something when...

  18. It was IMO, the perfect ride. I've never been on a ride like it before or since my first ride in 2002. It truly is a tragedy that it never made it past 10 years. I think it will be a one time attraction, as in, ki never had an attraction like it before and will never have one like it in the future.

  20. Oh, goody. It did seem as they were as useless as tits on a nun back there, and, turns out that I was absolutely right. I did get $20 in "Beagle Bucks" back, bought a t-shirt for free. So, I guess they cost me $40, or, $60 with a free shirt. I kind of wish that you hadn't told me that. It seemed like complete ineptitude in that shack last night. *Edit* The good news is, apparently that fiasco took me from 1 star to 4 stars. So, gives me two $20 off a 2013 season pass. So, between that, the $20 in Beagle Bucks, the $25 Merch voucher, and the $40 savings on two season passes, I did OK. Not so mad now. Plus, three more that I can print off.

  26. So they did away with using real chainsaws this year? I know last year the Slaughterhouse finale had a real saw; kind of shocking to hear they potentially axed them (the real ones at least).

  30. Except being right. Before Pat was Mrs. Koch, she was a nun. Then she married W. A. "Bill" Koch, had five children, and just a few years back, entered Methodist seminary. She's now also a minister!

  31. Sounds like you had a great time! Thanks for sharing your day with us. If I may be so bold, I must say Bonnie Brook Farms is a must-do attraction as well. The main draw is the fantastic hayride. The corn maze is spectacular, too.

  34. As I strolled down the midway on my way past the Luminosity stage and to my next ride, Iron Dragon, I took some time to grab these shots of Iron Dragon and Corkscrew: Iron Dragon was also a walk on, if not, a short station wait. I rode it four times, but I only had to go through the queue once since those four rides were CONSECUTIVE. That explains the fact that only Train #3 took me on all four rides. I started out in row 2-1, to get back the feel of flying through the woods like a dragon, barely missing trees and swooping over the lagoon. The first part of the ride was like a scenic flight through a forest of a variety of trees. The part after the second lift hill, right before the train descends over the lagoon, is my favorite part. I also rode in 7-1 (twice) along with 6-1. Iron Dragon is a nice ride to take through the woods and get a brief close-up with nature, and how it can really intermingle with the more synthetic/mechanical environment of an amusement park. Next up was the standup: Mantis! Since this ride also occupied part of the lagoon, it neighbored Iron Dragon at a fairly close proximity. As I made my way through the empty queue up to the nearly empty station, a few fish swam up to say hello. I boarded the very last row on Train #1. As you can tell in the pic below, I was on the far right. In my opinion, the experience was “next to mediocre.” I didn’t mind the inversions or the first drop, but in general the ride was a bit more forceful than thrilling. I did my usual riding method of relaxing, and in this case, I also put my head forward of the harness so it wouldn’t bang while I was getting thrown from side to side. The ride still was fun, but not as “balanced” in thrills and forces as it was on even the Corkscrew. (remember: I only like some rides better than others, and for me there’s no such thing as actually “hating” a ride. ) Part 5 coming soon!

  38. I plan on going on the 27th with some friends. We also plan on getting fast passes to deal with the crowds. Should we get them at the park or online? I would much rather get them at the park but I'm not sure it they sell out really fast. We'll get there no later than 1PM do you think there will be any left? I've never seem them sell out before, but Ive never been there on a REALLY crowded day before either. What do you guys think?
