So, I got a little board today while home from college and decided to try to match up some of my Son of Beast photos from 2010 with some I took on closing day 2012. A great deal of this inspiration came from a fantastic thread by our very own standbyme called, "Standing within' 3 feet of 1974." If you're new and/or haven't had a chance to see it, I highly recommend it. Just click on the link: http://www.KICentral...__fromsearch__1 Now I present to you Standing within' 3 feet of 2010: Son of Beast Edition! I hope you enjoy!8 points

Thanks for sharing! It was nice to finally meet you, albeit briefly. I hope to see you again in 2013! The NWS forecast for closing day was spot-on. Granted, the very slight warm-up (to 51) in the mid-afternoon never happened, but otherwise it was very accurate with cloudy skies and temperatures hanging in the mid-40s. I normally trust the NWS forecast more than local news stations or Accuweather. Considering that Columbus had rain all day, we really lucked out. It was really nice to drive away from all that! Always good advice; the low was a full 9 degrees lower than forecast that night - and almost 2 hours early! Beast and Diamondback would have been much better had I dressed for the worse-than-expected weather, but we still had fun regardless. For everyone who hasn't experienced Diamondback in the rain at 45 degrees with just a t-shirt and shorts, I wouldn't recommend it.4 points

So if Hollywood makes a movie about people in morph suits then Mysteria is automatically related to Halloween? You are missing the point. The point of the haunts is to scare people. To you Mysteria might not be scary, but to a nine year old working his or her way up to the scariest haunt it is a good starting point.2 points
-
Mysteria's usually the haunt I take newbies through to get them warmed up to Haunt. It's so out there that it "breaks the ice," so to speak, and generally warms people uneasy about being scared up to the idea of laughing off the scares, rather than freaking out all the time. Cut-Throat Cove's good for that, too, and Holiday Horror and Cornstalkers are good next steps after Mysteria or CTC. It's hard (and usually permanently counterproductive) to throw people who aren't totally sold on the Haunt experience straight into houses like Wolf Pack, Slaughterhouse, or Madame Fatale's. Houses like Mysteria are the "kiddie coasters" of Halloween Haunt--they're there to warm you up to the idea, rather than tossing you right into a terrifying, high-adrenaline house that's nothing but scares. If you're used to haunted houses (or, if we're still going with the kiddie coaster analogy, roller coasters), they may not do much for you, but that doesn't necessarily make them failures. My predictions for next year: if a house is changing/leaving, it'll be Cornstalkers. That thing's apparently difficult to keep staffed, as it's usually the one that's noticeably lost the most scareactors over each Haunt season for the past couple seasons. It doesn't really have unique props except the costumes, which could easily be reused if one of the scare zones *coughnightmarealleycough* gained a little corn. Don't know what could replace it or how it could be modified, but that's my prediction if any house is going to change or leave. I'd sooner guess we'll see another house added in Flight Commander's queue or in the field outlined by Racer, Flight of Fear, and Adventure Express, for instance, than see a house changed/removed, though. I think I missed something... What "R-rated final scene"? The most I ever noticed in the end of Mysteria was a scareactor standing there telling you to have a good night.2 points

On or after Thanksgiving. Period. Seeing and hearing Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving irks me to no end. What's wrong with just taking it one holiday at a time?2 points

Certain teases are simply part of this group. Becoming part of the group means learning the inside jokes. Sometimes it annoys me too but usually I quite like it. My wife would say the same thing about me on many...many things. Hope it doesn't bother you too much I should add it has never bothered me nearly as much as some avatars2 points

To be blunt, his mother is an idiot, and I have no sympathy for idiots. Any reasonable person should have known not to put a toddler in a position where he could easily fall over 10 feet into an exhibit of vicious animals. It's called "common ****ing sense". People who are that stupid should not be allowed to have children. I hope she goes to jail over this; they could get her not only for some charge over her son's death, but probably also for indirectly forcing police to kill an animal that is a member of an endangered species.2 points

Shark, I have a 4 year old daughter who I love dearly. Therefore I am very careful to not put her in dnagerous situations. You're right Shark, if she died under my care legal consequences would be a drop in the bucket of my pain. My previous career was dedicated to helping children in neglectful situations... and my primary goal was keeping them in the home by improving the parents ability to provide for, protect and nurture them. I have had many days in court over abuse and neglect cases and am considered an expert by many. If you put your child in harms way you are responsible. You're the adult and should take that responsibility seriously enough to always go the extra step in protecting them. Not putting them in dangerous situations. Whether or not she deserves legal consequences depends on the situation. If I took my child on a sled that repeatedly ended up going into a busy street and we eventually got hit and severely injured surely you would see me liable. At least I hope you would. If we we're injured hitting a tree that was well out of our path it would be different.1 point

Always assume the weather will be significantly worse than is forecasted. Case in point: Yesterday was forecasted on Friday night to be in the upper 40s with no precipitation in the late afternoon. Decent weather for the rescheduled trick-or-treat, right? Actual weather: low 40s with steady rain mixed with a little bit of sleet the whole two hours. See also: KIC Haunt Night. I rest my case.1 point

I agree. Those Dyson hand dryers are terrible. On closing day his year, one of the men's restrooms that had those had a trash bag over it because it was broken. Yet just seem a lot less efficient than the excel hand dryers that places like Coney Island and Cedar Point.1 point

If it means getting rid of those preposterous Dyson so-called hand driers, count me in!1 point

I bet BB1 sits in his bubble bath and worships his shrine to Boomerang Bay every night! That being said, the fact that he gets people fired up cracks me up! He probably also has a baby pool in his living room with a kiddie slide going into it with homemade Boomerang Bay signs hanging everywhere! Forget the off season tour,i miss ice skating on the fountain!1 point

Now the very same people that were convinced the price would drop after October 28th will complain the current price is too high and the park is too greedy. The price has always gone up after the fall season.1 point

Wow!! Thats pretty cool, I like how you were able to match each photo from the same position. Everytime I see the old SOB half torn apart, I think about the old days when trains still ran the rails of the wooden monstrosity.1 point

Foo! People pay that much for a concert ticket for two hours entertainment. Better to pay that amount for two passes than on a prescription for anti-depressants, or anything else to clear away the blues. After so many visits, it's a free ride.1 point
