  2. Well, let's see... I've been to 5 of the 8 parks in the running for the Finals (Dollywood, Idlewild, Sesame Place, KI & CP). As much as I love KI and enjoy CP, I had to give a slight edge to another park and voted for Dollywood. We had passes there this year and had lots of fun and created some great memories. In May, GatorGirl got her first ever inversions (on Tennessee Tornado), her first ride on Mystery Mine, and with her first ride on Thunderhead I gained a Thunderhead marathoning buddy! Not to mention the great shows, especially during Smoky Mountain Christmas, and the wonderful food. We spent a lot of time with friends there too over my nine days in the park, and even though it's nowhere near a Top 10 coaster for me, GatorGirl was absolutely thrilled in November when on our last visit of the year she was finally tall enough to ride Wild Eagle (and she could then say that she finally had a big park where she could ride EVERYTHING). WE also has the distinction of being her first B&M. So yup, DW wins for me this year.

  3. although I never really knew her im sure at some point during the season last year I talked to her. with that said though, its always hard hearing news like this about someone you worked with in the same area of the park is hard to process and believe.

  4. 15 years ago I lost a good friend of mine in a car accident. He was only 17. I understand completely the pain that her friends and family must be feeling. It's something that you never really get over or ever really understand. I always hate to read news like this because I know how badly it hurts the loved ones of those lost. Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who was affected by this tragedy.

  5. I voted for Cedar Point. Some people might think Cedar Point is over rated but its defiantly one of the best. Not many parks can match the Beach and the views that Cedar Point delivers. I think 10 years from now, if Cedar Point is still getting voted #1 by the GTA, they'll actually deserve it. Ouimet is doing a great job and I see many consecutive years dedicated to family attractions. He's all about maximizing the resort and nighttime experience too so I think Cedar Point has the brightest future out of any park listed.

  6. A few years ago, if I was with my family you would usually find me in Nick U/Planet Snoopy & Boomerang Bay. Now that GatorGirl is over 48", it's impossible to say... we don't really have a favorite section, we're all over the place! During Haunt season though, the past five years you could find me lurking in Action Zone...

  7. I saw a "Sta-Pufft Marshmallow Man" doll in the Diamondback main drop net last season. It was that or a Michelin Man toy. ???

  9. The gall to not know how to do that is infuriating, no doubt. Perhaps he was to preoccupied with doing the tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of things that were more important than knowing how to take, what you deem to be, a "proper screenshot" or perhaps he couldn't care less... Ya gotta admit though it is very funny to post about a typo on FB by taking a literal pic of a desktop screen, but cannot take a screen shot, or even take the time to Google how to take a screen shot.

  10. It hurts having to tell anyone this, but I think it deserves some attention on this board. On Wednesday, December 26th, Kings Island lost one of their own. Jessica Galley, a former rides associate at The Racer, lost her life in an car accident. She was only 18 years old, a freshman at the University of Cincinnati, and a graduate of Mason High School. I was lucky enough to work with Jessica Galley the past two years of her life, and become a close friend to her. She was a terrific young women who had an incredible heart. She always wanted to make people smile, and make sure nobody was left out. Every time I saw her she always had the biggest smile on her face, that seemed to light up a room, one that can't be matched. I'll always remember the fun quirky moments at work, the Cedar Point trips, the concerts, and everything that made us friends. When you work at Kings Island, you don't just "meet" people. You meet people that will change you forever, people you will never forget. Jessica was one of these friends that have impacted my life greatly and I know she left the same impact on everyone she has spoken to. Please pray for the Galley family, I simply can't imagine what they must be going though. Pray for Jessica's friends and hope they stay strong through this. Below I have included a news article on the accident, which includes a video of a reunion her friends had to remember her. Rest in peace Jessica, you will be greatly missed by everyone you have touched. Best regards, Cody Johnson http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/news/local_news/nb-i-71-at-standstill-after-fatal-crash

  11. Uh, no. And no, I don't have Georgia on My Mind... But being stuck on mobile is mildly irritating, if not driving me crazy. [some say I was already there.] For now, I'm On The Road Again...

  12. I've...uh..done that...Funny story, really. I was sitting outside the station, waiting to unload. My older sister was sitting in front of me. She reached back and punched me, so I tried to kick her, and my flip flop flew off.

  17. If you remember, KI was in competition with the neighboring Beach Waterpark's winter event as well, with that event out of the area, one may think the profit margin may be larger, but not large enough due to the current management making the decision for no WinterFest, which I would visit a few times out of the year if in service. To believe that the growth could expand from a winter event at KI and or at other CF parks would not be the best idea, but it is a possibility in hindsight.

  18. Good luck finding me. I tend to wander with no particular plan in mind, so I could be found anywhere at the park, though most likely on the dry side.

  20. I feel so bad for her family, friends and associates. When I look at the ride associates, I think to myself how great their lives will be, they have this great experience, and are having fun at a hard working job at a young age. I'm sorry her time was cut short.

  21. Not much more that I can add to what has been said already here. I never worked with Jess, but I know she impacted many lives inside the park gates and out side of them. My thoughts and prayers are with her, her family, her KI Family and those who knew her. RIP Jess!

  29. So sad. Rides associates both past and present will have heavy hearts. Once a rides associate, always a rides associate.

  33. Flying Eagles. It was a favorite of mine going back to when it was at Coney Island. I have a lot of memories riding that ride with my parents, brother and sister when I was growing up. It was so much fun! I very much hope you've brought up the return of Flying Eagles to the rest of KI staff.

  35. No, because I don't have that kind of dough and my backyard isn't big enough to build a ride like that.

  42. Red. That was my favorite side when the ride first opened in 1972 and both sides faced forward until the spring of 1982. It was like going home again when I was able to ride that side facing forward again in 2008.
