Take him on a ride on The Beast at night, say nothing about how it goes, tell him it is a short easy coaster, then at the top tell him "I lied".8 points

Actually from my experience 90% of riders are going to refer to it as "that part where you go like this and then like this"7 points

Also just looking back, this thing is ganna stick out so well in the park, looking through pics here and there, look at the blue supports. They just stick out like a sore thumb in the pic, this ride is ganna look good. Another small update, lack of rides & stuff in the video means nothing. Eiffel Tower didn't have elevators in the video, guess that means no more observation tower6 points

SBNO never brings in the dough...it's quite possible that this could be true. I don't think CF would be ordering a new one anytime soon, therefore if WOF were to get one it most likely would be that one....of course WOF could be getting a Green Intamin Giga... I heard that track was seen on I71 about a month ago....LOL5 points

I'm sure no one cares, but I'll post it anyway. I have been a KIC member since 2005. In January I took what, for the most part, was a dream job working with the State Tourism- I made the decision voluntarily to stop posting to KIC because of random bits of info I would come across and posting opinions to fan sites that could be construed as proprietary seemed a bit too risky even if I wasn't completely in the know. Then in the end of April I ruptured a disk in my back reaching for something on the floor of my car. Yep... that's all it was. 5-day hospital stay, surgery, loss of feeling in my leg, nerve injury/pain, etc... because of the nature of the job- road warrior day travel with constant leg pain (from my back) and climbing in and out of vehicles caused me to resign from that job. I have since landed in an even better job situation in a curiously similar industry and enjoying it! I'm ecstatic to say that through going back to zero, prayers of myself and others on my behalf- in May Doctors were about 75% certain I would require a series of surgeries. I had one procedure at the beginning of May that was supposed to have been 1 of 3-5. I had one. feeling returned to my leg mid-June. my sciatic nerve healed over at the beginning of July. AND- relevant to this site- I rode my FIRST roller coaster of the year yesterday- it's its name was Diamondback! Very blessed and humbled. while far from "back to normal"- it will likely take year(s) if I ever ride The Beast again. I love The Beast, but it may be too bumpy for me to risk a 4-minute ride. There's a handful on this site that were aware of the struggle I went through a few months ago, and to them I say a very heartfelt "thank you!" God heard the prayers and chose to bless me with the results I've seen and witnessed!5 points

In the conference call CEO Ouimet foreshadowed the limited value of stand alone water parks to Cedar Fair: "...Worlds of Fun was our last park it didn’t take advantage of two parks for one price which is an incredibly compelling consumer messaging and we’ve seen exactly that happen at World of Park as we had anticipated. It’s also a strongly defensible position against water park – standalone water parks because the value proposition is great for the consumer. And then the third thing is water parks play a disproportionate role in driving season pass sales because people see themselves going into the water park more times than they go to the amusement parks." Matt Ouimet in response to a question from Jeffrey Thomison of Hilliard Lyons, please see transcript, page six, from Seeking Alpha: http://seekingalpha.com/article/1620642-cedar-fairs-ceo-discusses-q2-2013-results-earnings-call-transcript Cedar Fair seeks to expand via combined gates and grouped gate revenue streams such as leveraging resorts, hotels, campgrounds, adjacent or attached water parks, go-cart attractions, restaurants, and other related businesses. Watch to see how Ouimet develops the auto industry property acquired near Cedar Point. Proceeds from the sale will likely be deployed to the hotel refreshment program, point of sale roll out, and arm band payment systems.4 points

Soak City needs another signature attraction to compliment the ProSlide Tornado. Probably with support for Fast Lane. (See Worlds of Fun.) My only problem with a water coaster would be that Soak City would probably close for weather whenever I'd try to go over there to marathon it. I believe I came up with the name "Splash Lane" ages ago. If anyone from Cedar Fair is reading this, you can take that name, and all I want is a free platinum pass for life4 points

I'd be perfectly happy with a brand new water coaster in Soak City in a few years.4 points

I was planning to spend all of August 14th up at KI, but I just got hired for a new job today that starts tomorrow, so I decided to go spend part of today up there. My fiancé and I arrived about 4:45pm, and once inside the park I headed straight for Diamondback. About a 20-25 minute wait to ride in row 1. Not bad! After that I went to The Beast. Another short line, on and off front row in under 30 minutes. Next we went on the carousel. Walk on for that. I then proceeded to Action Zone, had a look around the Banshee construction area to see the changes, then went to Delirium. Walk on for that as well. After Delirium I went to Invertigo and waited about 5 or 10 minutes for that, which was very nice, as that usually has a long line. After that I went to Flight Deck, waited less than 5 minutes for that Then we decided to try the new Banshee twist ice cream. That is some SERIOUS food dye on that!!! Lol. It was very yummy though After that we went to Boo Blasters. We got pod 16, which didn't work very well. I still managed to get 1260 though and my fiancé got 1080 (or something close to that....) I then got walk on for Woodstock Express, less than 5 minute wait for Surf Dog, walk on for Kite Eating Tree, and less than a 5 minute wait for back-to-back last rides of the night on Flying Ace. I got in line for that at 7:55, thinking I would be on the last train, but there were about 5 people extra so they had to run one more train. I got off the ride, no sooner set foot in the exit, and heard the ride op say if you found an empty row, you were welcome to ride again. I immediately turned around and got back on, making my fiancé wonder where the heck I went LOL. He saw me on the ride when we got to the top, though It was a fun time thanks to very short lines I got a lot done in about 3 hours hoping to go up there again next Saturday, possibly spend my first paycheck on a Fast Lane pass lol3 points

Tower Johnny would probably still be alive. Evel Kneivel would have jumped buses elsewhere. Nick Lachey would be a country/western star. Thousands of couples who first met and fell in love at Kings Island would probably have never met, and thus thousands of you wouldn't even exist. Interesting.3 points

I'm wondering if there will be a loose change/items shield on the part of Banshee the goes over the Action Zone midway. Just noticed that you are almost at 1,000 posts malem. Congrats!! That would depend on the dynamics of the ride at that point. Unlike Diamondback, there's no floor for dropped articles to collect on before the next curve. It's hard to believe that I've posted here that many times. Now that you've brought up tallies, everyone's going to be expecting that milestone post to be something amazing. Thanks a lot. Just as long as I don't pull a Don Helbig and stop one short.3 points

I miss Jeff and Maureen...What a great pair!!!! I also miss all of the summer events...there was something new just about every weekend. I miss the parades and their new ride promotions. (Banshee was a the perfect example of how paramount announced new rides) The acknowledgement that seasons pass holders are special to the park. What I don't miss....all of the wide concrete paths The bizarre placement of BLSC with its destruction of the most beautiful area of the park. The lack of upkeep of the special effects. The return of a scheduled Winterfest....scheduled and 20 bucks was not good. What I don't miss about the early CF years...the immediate demotion of season pass holders. The immediate cancellation of Winterfest with the reason that "it wasn't profitable". It looks like things are starting to turn around now....Yay!3 points

Surely there are better keepsakes you could find at KI other than that Terpy. Might I suggest the many great shops on International Street, or try your luck at winning a prize at one of the midway games in Coney Mall.3 points

Frankly, I hope Kings Island starts to focus on intermediate rides. I can't even tell you how many times I've heard of guests who are too big/old for Planet Snoopy rides but are either not tall enough or brave enough to get on the 48" height restricted rides. I feel that currently, there is too big of a gap between those two demographics, even with the classic flats in Coney Mall. I think Kings Island's immediate future in coaster additions should omit thrilling coasters for a bit since our last 3 coaster additions (Firehawk, Diamondback and now Banshee) were major thrill rides.3 points

Since we are getting Banshee I wouldn't expect any major purchases by the park too soon. I would be very happy with some refreshing of areas and some more flats. As many will agree, a restroom is urgently needed in xbase.3 points

I would like to see a handful of good-ole fashioned carnival rides, something that KI is seriously lacking.3 points

Hmm...well, as yet another person who was once afraid of roller coasters and big scary rides, here's how I overcame my fear of coasters, step by step: -Saw construction and promos for Diamondback, thought it looked cool. -Sister took me to a Carnival a few weeks before Kings Island trip...I rode a couple flat rides, alas they had nothing that went upside down so I couldn't get any practice on that, but was able to warm-up a bit with rides like 1001 Nights, Monster, Yoyo Swings, etc etc. -Watched POVs of all the major coasters to get their layouts. As height and inversions were my main "issues", I ended up noticing Beast was mostly a low-to-the-ground coaster, but did have 2 big drops. I ended up wanting to try it first as it didn't look too bad. -Read stuff here on KICentral as a lurker. -Arrived at Kings Island and went up to the Eiffel Tower, getting a good look at all the rides I was likely about to "face off" against. -Sister tricked me into riding The Crypt, outright lying that it didn't go upside down...it did. All of two times. First time caught me off guard. Shockingly, when the ride ended, I was wanting more and was actually upset it ended so soon. So even though it was one of the most dissapointing rides I ever rode, it did serve a purpose to me... -Finally rode Beast...and loved it. Though the helix finale, which I for whatever reason did not pay attention to when watching the POV's, caught me off guard and did scare me just a bit that first time (and a few rides afterwards)...I actually DUCKED thinking that tunnel was going to chop my head off. -Having ridden a big fast coaster and something that went upside-down now, I decided to try combining the two and we rode Vortex- after a quick cooldown ride on Shake, Rattle, & Roll first though. The forceful inversions did scare me just a bit, but I was really making progress by this point. -Next I decided it was time to go for super-tall...Diamondback. This one caught me off guard, as I had zero idea what "airtime" even was before this ride and thus got quite the shock on the first few hills...but by the end I was loving it. -By this point, I was over coasters all the way, as next we headed to Son of Beast, which I assumed to be the scariest coaster at Kings Island in 2009. It broke down and was closed all day. I never did get to ride it, as it was SBNO by my next visit. So much for it. However, my fears of other rides still existed...Delirium still looked scary as did Drop Tower. But as I was more macho now, having faced rides like Diamondback & Vortex, I was eventually talked into riding both within a year & a half and now those are 2 of my favorite rides at Kings Island. Alas, this method will not work for everyone, as while I was able to jump in and ride Beast and stuff fairly early, we tried that with my best friends' girlfriend at Holiday World with Raven...and she was crying by the end. (She was OK after 10 minutes though) Personally, I'd start with Adventure Express or one of the kids coasters. Racer is just a bit tall and often has airtime, and BLSC has a pretty forceful helix and crazy dark tunnel section. But those 2 would be my next ones up, followed by Flight Deck after them (intense, but short). Again though- ask the person if they want to ride them or not first. Don't force anything...2 points

As bad as Gary Story was, Dan Snyder and Mark Shapiro were worse. Matt Ouimet. Jim Reid-Anderson. Both SIX and FUN are in far better hands now than just a few short years ago. It's SEA I worry about now. Same types of cuts CBS made right before they sold out to Paramount Parks. The SeaWorld parks are special. I don't want them to end up like SeaWorld Ohio.2 points

Millennium Force and Magnum might have a better and faster crew than Diamondback because, to use your words, Cedar Point is about capacity and Kings Island is about the experience.2 points
-
Also, take into account that the guests take their sweet time getting on and off the coaster. And sometimes like to try and hang out in the station, for god knows what reason. There are times we have to "fit" guests into the restraints, and they don't fit, then we have to kindly tell them they don't fit, then get them off the ride. Things happen. Sorry the line was long buddy. It's a summer night. Did you see that Kings Island is the 15th most popular park in the United States, right up there with Cedar Point? Be happy you don't have to wait 45-90 minutes every time you visit the park. Get a Fast Lane pass if you're that upset, because complaining on KIC won't do you much good Oh yeah, getting rid of the free bins is a great idea. They're slowing things down for suuuure. Since 2009 they've been handicapping Diamondback to about 1280 per hour By the way spelling and grammar helps us take your more seriously and look less like Big Sexy 2.0.2 points

Being an associate at the park, I rarely post on here. That being said, I cannot let this one go. Have you ever worked at the park? Let alone a popular coaster like Diamondback or Beast? I'll say this in the nicest way possible: you guys have NO IDEA the types of stuff we deal with on a busy day (today was one of the busiest days I have ever worked in the four years that I have been at the park). Stacking trains on days like the one we had today is inevitable. This whole "Diamondstack" thing is a load of poop. I worked there for two years and I know how difficult it is to keep those trains moving on a busy day like we had today. It's not the associates who are at fault, and it's definitely not the ride; It's the excess amount of guests that slow things down. If you want to avoid seeing stacked trains, because apparently that is really disturbing to you guys, come on a weekday when the line is short and the associates can actually concentrate on capacity rather than the hours worth of impatient guests in the queue line. Sorry, but I will always defend my fellow KI associates when necessary.2 points

Where to begin... I think I'll just sum up my thoughts in two sentences: This is not normal. The crew is at fault, not the ride.2 points
