thinking there will need to be some SERIOUS trim-break action before this section. ABORT!!!!!!!!!!!!9 points

With temps warming this week, everyone will probably haul and get as much done as possible. Before the rains come, we should be able to spike into the upper 50s, if not low 60s. Then next week cold sets in again. To reinforce the video, I found this picture online. This pretty much confirms my previous thoughts that they had removed 3-4 feet of dirt under the lowest parts of the track, to allow for safe travel throughout the circuit.9 points

I just noticed something. Banshee truly is a woman because she has some sweet curves.8 points

Seems like they also installed the very bottom support of the 'batwing' element.7 points

I think a marketing team putting way too much reliance on social media is a big part of the problem. Social media is trendy. It's what the cool kids do (so the old marketers think). It should be additive to, not a substitute for, other marketing. Here it has one huge advantage. It's cheap.6 points

Cool how the Sling Shot ball looks like it's the car for some wild new kind of coaster! Forced perspective can generate some hilarious results.6 points

Sigh. I chuckle at the fact that whenever this thread goes astray with tired jokes and puns, no one seems to care... Yet once we finally strike a meaningful and constructive conversation about the matter at hand, it is quickly stiflled by bitter sarcasm and accusing people like devarious of being "know-it-alls" or assuming that they know nothing of what they are talking about (which couldn't be further from the truth).6 points

Good progress today. 5 supports and 4 pieces of track. Link to gallery5 points

From KDs Facebook: On the 5th day of Christmas, #KD40 gave to me: A fresh, new look to Border Café. The newly renovated restaurant on International Street will feature hand-crafted burritos, nachos, tacos, quesadilla and more next year. (Photo from KDs Facebook)5 points

Looks great. Kudos to whoever came up with this idea and kudos to management for actually following through with it.4 points

I don't remember what program he uses to make it, but Kevin Mcveen's company is http://www.3dvip.com. They produced the animation videos for Banshee and essentially everything else in the past 12 years.4 points

I now have a parody of "Send in the Clowns" going through my head. Since you weren't here back then, a poster here was oft sayin' back in the Diamondback days: Send in the cranes There ought to be cranes And then it's next year. Terp, who saw that poster just moments ago.4 points

Last night I had a dream that The Beast was refurbished with an RMC topper-track design. Instead of the second lift hill, it stopped about a third of the way up and launched into the final double-helix sequence. Absolute nightmare. There was also an Intamin Inverted Impulse (Wicked Twister) in X-Base, so I guess the dream wasn't all bad...4 points

I do not mind a little off topic banter but I agree the bickering and slams at people is annoying. I think with the way the seats sort of recline clearance will not be an issue but I am not in the know. I do wonder if there will be a height limit for tall people though.4 points

Oh the rampant off season speculation. Leave the coaster design and construction to experts.4 points

I've been to one concert in a zoo, and that was enough for me. None of the above listed performers above thought twice before about the effect of their show might have on the animals, when, during the concert, that's all I could think about. And it was a mopey band, too- with special guest star Alex Chilton, who tried to lead a Southern Ohio crowd in a chant of "Hail, Satan." He bombed ever so much. As to the documentary, I was left with a lot of questions. If I find myself looking for more information after I've seen the film, it means some questions weren't answered, and the documentary was not satisfying. I find it strange that the three trainers were attacked by being dragged down, (Two were killed), they all knew each other, and were trained by the one trainer that was held underwater in 2006. At least two of the incidents involved the orcas not doing tricks to the trainers satisfaction, and not being rewarded. There's not a lot of information about the attack in Loro Parque. The orcas weren't being paid for their work. I'll drag you down if you do that to me. Orcas are capitalists, who knew? The interviews all featured former trainers, and I'd like to know why they are former trainers. I don't know which guy it was, but it was posted that one guy got fired for kissing the orca's tongue. Kiss any animal's tongue, and you'll get a poor reaction from your fellow man. Use some discretion. Like everyone else, I'd fallen in love with the orca as a kid, not because of what is described as a 'clown like' appearance, but because it looked like a wraith. To me, it looked like what it said on the tin, a Killer Whale. I was a ghoulish child. I found myself not having sympathy for the trainers for not appreciating that. It seemed they had Lion Tamer's Complex. This is awful of me- I found myself wanting to buy a stuffed Shamu toy, and wanting to go to SeaWorld to see for myself the size of the tanks, and how the animals behaved. I think my reaction to the film is what led me to ask the original question. I'm supposed to hate this park, and take to the streets wearing stark black and white with cowlicked bangs and confront families with my vitriol. It had quite the opposite effect, I began to research the park and became interested in it.3 points

There is a Holiday Shipping Note at the top of the Kings Island Marketplace website that says the following: "Any orders placed after December 10th may not be shipped until January 3rd, 2014." (http://www.kimarketplace.com/Default.aspx)3 points

But a poorly planned announcement of a major attraction and little to no advertising has not helped spur season pass sales I am sure. Which is one of the reasons that pass prices have not been raised and are slated to stay at bargain bin prices for the foreseeable future.3 points

Latest Banshee construction time lapse shows them digging out large quantities of dirt underneath the low spots in the track. You can see how flush to the ground the pilings start out and see how exposed they end. Crisis averted.3 points
