  6. I have been in the construction/design business a long time...and it still amazes me how precise the surveyors and concrete guys get their part done so that all those numerous one-of-a-kind support and track pieces in such complex shapes on a varying grade all fit just right.....absolute teamwork and flat out know how and experience to pull that off....KUDOS to the entire construction crew.

  7. Hopefully we're not getting into a situation where people are registering for a user name on KIC and then joining Coaster Crew for the sole purpose of attending Media Day. Respect the opportunity rather than take advantage of it.

  9. As referred to by Kings Island and the construction crew building the ride, the section the men are standing in was called "The Pit" Delirium Construction, Fall 2002. In the background, stands the (former) Worlds Tallest, Fastest, Only looping wooden roller coaster, Son of Beast.

  15. I hope they don't retheme Action Zone. That section is Paramount to my enjoyment of the park. In all seriousness, I don't care in the slightest what they do to Action Zone themewise, as long as we get some overall TLC (and they've done well with that so far). If it looks nice, they can call it Princess and Fairy Land for all I care.

  18. Terp "does what he does because he must". Dane has publicly commended his efforts and encouraged him to continue. Terp is a nice (albeit sometimes a bit cryptic) guy and means no ill will to any user that he corrects. Dane and The Interpreter would not find it so important to enforce proper trademark capitalization if they did not have very good reason to do so. Those reasons may not be entirely obvious to all of us, but I can assure you, if there weren't good reasons, it would not be happening. That's just my two cents on it though.

  24. People that get corrected by Terp may not enjoy his suggestions, but I do believe it helps others when making a thread or post to use proper grammar and punctuation. He has almost single handedly stopped the "people copying and pasting the entire article rather than linking to it" problem.

  26. A. To TheBEASTunchained, I apologize for this most unnecessary detour from your delightful thread. B. How trademarks are being handled on this site has been decided. There are some excellent, and correct, posts here. C. It isn't trolling. It won't be done by PRIVATE messages (for reasons already discussed here) and it will continue. It is what it is. Carry on, so to speak.

  30. In 19 years of formal education, I never missed a day. In retrospect, that may have been foolish. To me, the test is, ten years from now, which will have contributed to my life and even my education more? Given what you say you want to do, IF you are serious, that, to me, is an easy answer. Media Days are about far, far more than riding coasters. At least they can be, if you let them be and want them to be. Oh, the people I have met, the things I have learned, the experiences I have had. Or a day in school? Were I your Dad or Mom, I'd know you, your capabilities, your seriousness--or lack thereof. Just by reading your posts here, I know a lot. Only you and your parents can decide what's best for you. And that's as it should be.

  31. "Mom, I'm growing up really fast, and soon I will be going off to college. We won't be able to spend a lot of time together like we do now. We need to do this while we still have the chance to do it." Worked like a charm for me back then. You should try it.

  34. I certainly hope not. Kings Island needs to be its own park. Cedar Point is great. If I wanted to go there, I would and do. Kings Island is a very different park.

  36. If you feel that way, then become a politician and get trademark rights changed to reflect those beliefs. The fact that he's doing it at all seems to be more reactive than proactive; he's not doing it to be your own personal pain the butt. If someone sues the bejabbers out of the admin team for something so seemingly silly and wins, there may not even be a KIC forum for you to post on. And before you ask: yes, something as simple as punctuation errors would matter that much to a corporation looking to protect its property. Based on the fact that we're having this discussion at all, it's clearly something the administration here has encountered in some magnitude.

  39. Keep in mind that what was depicted in the rendering may not actually be what gets built. Often the renderings are done prior to the finalized design taking place. So what I`m saying is that there maybe a wall built by the stairs, and there might not, if things necessitated the change in the design from the time the rendering was completed. How is that for a cryptic answer.

  40. Might not go, right now with the way the AF is cutting, I need to score well on this PT test, if not, they're only going to spend money to send top people there. Stuff is shaky atm, I want to ace this test and be done, don't get me wrong. If I stay however, I'm not complaining I have alot here that I want to stay for. Hell Lindz is enough for me to stay atm. Giving up a 2.5 year relationship and putting it on the sidelines for two years is somewhat nerve wracking.

  47. I mentioned earlier that each park should have its own identity. I just wish that the ads for each park would reflect this, ie stop showing rides from other parks.

  49. I would be very, very disappointed if Kings Island were to increase its resemblance to Cedar Point in any way. Cedar Point is great, but Kings Island is not Cedar Point. Thank goodness. The fact that Cedar Fair now has a CEO who recognizes the unique identities of each park is an immense relief to me. It's my understanding that Dorney Park and Valleyfair both have the atmosphere of a Miniature Cedar Point East and Miniature Cedar Point West, respectively, except neither has the fame from the rides that Cedar Point got through Kinzel's 1980's through 2005 leadership. Michigan's Adventure has all the charm of a parking lot, with twice as much concrete and half as many trees. The legacy Paramount Parks seemed to be headed that direction prior to 2011. Now, instead of vaguely placing rides like Dominator wherever they happen to fit, we've got rides like Gatekeeper (a coaster that "guards"/intertwines with the front gate to a park popular for its numerous coasters), Banshee (a ride whose theme plays on the removal of an existing ride with a bad reputation), and Wonder Mountain's Guardian (a ride that takes advantage of existing park infrastructure to add a new level of adventure to the park you already know and love.) It's Cedar Fair's legacy focus on great rides, but it's combined with this new sense for each park's identity. And when they aren't adding rides, they're doing things that celebrate the parks' original identities, like Kings Dominion's fortieth anniversary or the Knott's theming repairs. It's not quite the Siebert-hyped totally immersively themed amusement experiences of ten years ago. It's not quite Dollywood's year-round events. It's not quite Six Flags' "let's make a themed ride and place it where the heck ever we feel like it" personality like what can be seen at Great America. Cedar Fair's new approach has added personality that no other parks really ever really attempt these days. I like it!
