Whew! The track's complete. Now, what... shall... we... click... next... Parody. Webcam image from www.visitkingsisland.com22 points

Many of the photos you see on other forums were sent to the admins of those sites to post and/or they reached out and sought permission to post them. I have provided a method by which everyone can view them. All I asked was that the photo be credited and linked to the social platform where the photo lives.19 points

Is this a request from the park? It's nice to be able to see media that the park shares via mass communication without having to visit individual Instagram pages, for instance, in order to see them. Including context, such as a low-resolution image or a brief summary of text, often makes conversation easier to follow. If Kings Island wishes that we only link to their social media pages, it's certainly within their rights to ask this. To clarify, below is what we are requesting: You can embed our photos on the forums provided you include the photo credit tag below and link the tag directly to the photo. Steel work is now complete. One supports and three pieces of track installed today. Link to gallery17 points

I've heard that coasters from a different builder based in Liechtenstein occasionally have unused track left over... They do that so they can tour a single piece of green track all around the country and freak out people on fan forums like this one.16 points

Don just said that the content can be embedded as long as both credit and a link back to the original source (park site, Twitter post, page on facebook.com, etc) are also provided. Proper attribution is needed when publishing the content of others in any medium. This forum ranks particularly high in Google searches related to Kings Island, so misuse of the park's content here could potentially cause them a lot of harm. EDIT: Here's an example, based on Don's example above: Kings Island announced on Twitter that the last piece of track on Banshee was installed this morning. In a short while, we'll be riding along, our guts squished and tickled by the G forces, the midway food-scented summer wind at our faces, our feet dangling above the shifting, rolling landscape (and skyscape(!)) "below;" and we'll likely forget which piece was first or last, or how she was fastened together though one of the toughest winters ever to hit southwest Ohio, or how small the equipment looked in comparison to the rising columns and track in Don's amazing construction pics. Instead, we'll be too busy laughing and screaming in awe of our new, big star coaster as she whips us along in ways some of us have never yet experienced. There are experiences in life that require vivid analogies in order to articulate them. In other words, how does looking at the finished Banshee make me feel? Well, as a kid, my dad used to take us to Ann Arbor, Michigan to visit the storefronts, arcades and theaters on weekends. There was this candy store next to an arcade called the "Crosseyed Moose." Inside, and on display high above the wall behind the counter was a Hershey's Chocolate Bar that appeared to be about 20 pounds! There were giant proportions of all kinds of candy, but that one caught my eye. Now, my dad asked jokingly if I could finish it in an hour. I knew better, but I hoped he was serious, and he seemed to know it, so he let the idea stew a little. Ultimately he didn't buy the cocoa behemoth, and I understood why, but for that moment, the anticipation was exhilerating! Now I know why driving by Kings Island on my way home from work makes me crave chocolate.15 points

I believe it has not yet been released by the park. If I remember correctly, it was stated that it was having its finishing touches put on it recently. The park map will not be available until late March or early April on our website.15 points

The Beast had beastly footprints...... Not sure of the timeframe, but I distinctly remember these.15 points

Happy Birthday, Banshee! Wow... an extra week of Haunt this year, seven weeks instead of the usual six! Sam the Butcher is pleased... Some people's guts more so than others! 83 days left to lose weight! Good thing you don't live closer to HersheyPark!12 points

Just...whatever you do, do NOT click the icon with the little trashcan on it!!! XD Oh what a setback that would be...11 points

Getting ready to sing (a public domain variation of) "Happy Birthday" to Banshee! ...and then wait an excruciating three months while we watch water dummies get to have all of what would be the fun, if they weren't insentient robots!11 points

Clifford carried that weight a long time. Now golden slumbers fill his eyes, Smiles awake him when they ride. Sleep, Mr. Clifford, do not cry; And I will sing a lullaby. And in the end, the FUN you take is equal to the FUN you make. And while we're on the subject of Banshee: I want you so bad, it's driving me mad. Something in the way she loops attracts me like no other coaster... And other Beatles references, because the loop is round. Sorry if I made this thread weird.10 points

Banshee is a registered trademark of Cedar Fair. As such, it should always be capitalized. Mason and Ohio are proper nouns. As such, they too should be capitalized.10 points

I'll miss Clifford/Clifford Jr. working around and bending down for pennies. Hoping to see them again for the next construction project. On a more serious note, I'm glad Kings Island gets construction done at a good pace. It's nice to know they have a lot of time to get everything in place and have it tested before opening day. I wish certain parks from another chain involving flags would take note...10 points

Check out the transformation! Top photo: taken by me on a GOCC construction tour on closing day. Bottom photo: taken by Greg Scheid and posted on his twitter account. @KIGMGreg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk10 points

^^How about this: everybody capitalize proper nouns and then we'll never have to talk about this again. Problem solved. Terp doesn't make the posts anymore, Dane and the park are happy.9 points

With this frigid cold weather, I bet not much painting is being done on The Bat either. Hard to do an adequate paint job when your paint is freezing as opposed to drying.9 points

Thing is once steel is done though, we still have alot left to go.. Wiring, electric, chain, trains, station, queue, gift shop, testing, ect. One milestone down soon, many to go8 points

I think when they go to put the last piece in place we should all look for Don and see if we can find where he's filming or taking pictures from. Kind of like our own version of Where's Waldo.8 points

Do we not care at all about CJ?!?! I mean, he did a lot of work, too, ya know!!!! Let's not forget that it was CJ that built the whole back half of the coaster down there in the valley!!! I'm going to miss him just as much as I will miss Clifford. They both worked very hard7 points

The RCT2 picture posted above is absolutely fantastic. Love that series. And it's nice to see the track finished. Thing looks beautiful.7 points

I want to insert an SOB joke right here, but it is much, much too soon...7 points

I don't know the answer to your second question. But the long brake run is necessary because it has to support two trains. Keep in mind, Banshee hasn't got an MCBR, so the normal role of the midcourse brake is accounted for in the final brake run.7 points

Only one more davidw update to go! A very important piece of Banshee is still not on the premises (possibly not even in this continent yet).7 points

On April 18th, the park will be open 12pm to 10pm. The park has posted the operating calendar for 2014. The park is closed for private events on Friday, April 25th, and Sunday April 27th. Daily operation begins on May 9th. See the calendar on KI`s website here:https://www.visitkingsisland.com/hours-directions/kings-island7 points

That's the thing, the park and CF do care, heed the warnings... When you see someone step up and basically say cut it out, just cut it out.. I've made a few mistakes that Terp has grabbed me for, however I corrected them and moved on, it's a two second edit. You all will be fine.7 points

Well the footprints acted as more than just a "guide to the ride" they actually used as a "placeholder" for the line as it often extended out beyond the que for those rides. I distinctly remembering, that once you got into the "gated" area of the que for Vortex, it was pretty quick from there to getting on the train, but there was never a good way to judge how long it would take you to get from where the line ended amongst the painted part of the line and where the fenced off area started near the exit for shake rattle and roll. While you could make a good guess of it, it somewhat dependened on how "spaced out" a group of riders were. I "slow" day at KI, meant that the que for Vortex started where the fencing starts today. A normal day meant the line extended out along the painted symbols. I don't remember The Beast extending out beyond its que as often, but there were definently times those paw prints were very much a part of the line.6 points

Welp. After trying to install my new foot well LEDs in my car and quitting 1/3 of the way through due to the cold making my fingers numb and tingly, I must say the construction guys deserve some "hot cocoa" for still doing work in this horrid weather; whether weather braving was their choice, or not. Granted, many, if not all, aren't doing small work that requires they take their gloves off to do it, but even still.. No bueno.6 points
