(I'll look for more trail photos) Photo #25 - Front gate entrance (I think it looks better with no trees)15 points

Not mad, a bit disappointed that after time and again being asked to do a simple process of respecting a trademark, you have to press the issue. The park, the administrators, and the community itself have asked for this simple respect. Why some have to rebel against such a simple request is beyond me.15 points

Oh® forGetTM it! No more brand names; I'm Stick, Inc. with plain English descriptives from NOWSM ON®! Will it make posts easier? We LLC. Oh, and the new coaster at Mason's big amusement park looks awesome! So, um, ...trains? Heh heh heh12 points

You would probably die if you knew the TRTR crap I have. Oh, and you asked for a controls photo? As a former TRTR worker, I am disgusted with what the park decided to do with the building.7 points

Ehh...I'll just throw out my prediction for Banshee's line on opening day, based loosely on what Diamondback did in 2009. When the park opens, everyone will rush over to Banshee, and the wait will be around 3-3 1/2 hours but will LOOK like a 5-hour+ wait. However, the ride will have enough capacity to ensure this is not the case. After around 2-3PM, most of the crowds will have ridden Banshee, and it's line will decrease down to around one hour or so, possibly even as low as 45 minutes depending on crew speeds and overall crowds. HOWEVER, due to the fact the ride is being hyped up as a major night ride, around 7-8 the line will build up again and will probably surpass 2+ hours once more...dunno if it will get back to 3 hours though, as many will have started to leave the park already to beat the crowds out of the park. Again, this is just my prediction, and I'm not 100% sure it'll come to pass. But I'm just going to throw this out there...7 points

I'm not sure if this micro-site appeared today, very recently, or a while ago, but SeaWorld has launched a campaign against Blackfish, just in time for the myriad of trainers who are coming out of the woodwork saying they were misquoted and their interviews edited. www.seaworld.com/truth/ It should be a surprise to no one that Blackfish is propaganda, created by folks with a very particular bias and goal. They use (and misuse) audio and video to tell stories that, SeaWorld argues, they knew through investigative documents were not true but would inject an emotional angle to the film. A page on the new website chronicles each incident in the film that's raised red flags and counters it with SeaWorld's version and simple, factual clarifications through third party sites and documents. At this point, this is what SeaWorld needed to do - they need to launch an equally-sized campaign to at least call Blackfish's motives into question so that people will begin to hear a dialogue. The slew of trainers who are reporting that they were misquoted or misled in the film's purpose combined with the filmmakers asking those trainers to hold their comments until after award season is building an incriminating aura around the film, and SeaWorld is right to take those opportunities to make their case. Of course, SeaWorld is also biased and has reason to tip things in a particular direction just as Blackfish did. But their argument links to specialists, interviewed trainers, employment history, and OSHA representatives who are much more grounded in fact than Blackfish.5 points

I'm guessing that it looks bigger because the surrounding trees would have grown in the 30 years since the photo was taken, leaving less of The Beast visible above the trees now than was visible in 1984. Plus Vortex being nearly 150-feet high and directly in front probably "hurts" too. Hmm...actually here are some comparison pictures: 1980's: 2000's (Modern) Actually, comparing Beast to the trees, while they may have grown, they seem to be about the same size vs. The Beast's first chain lift...yeah, IMO, it's Vortex being a huge ride that makes Beast look small in comparison...5 points

I also have a Cedar Point souvenir map, on which all ride names are written in all-caps. So it has been referred to as "MAXAIR" on at least one park-approved source.4 points

I'm not sure that would make sense with Congo Falls, The Bat, or even Banshee, whereas Festhaus and Viking Fury fit in line with the Oktoberfest theming. But I can't for the life of me imagine what a re-theming of Action Zone could be. With names like The Bat and Banshee, the only thing that comes to mind are the classic Vincent Price/Christopher Lee Hammer horror movies, folk lore, and urban legends, but how does that fit Congo Falls, Drop Tower, Delirium, and Invertigo? Of course, this is if there's going to be a re-theming at all this year.4 points

Just looking at the webcam this morning. I noticed earlier last week that the platform and fencing for the old RC Boat game on the pond are gone, but with the snow coverage, I've observed a few other things. 1. There is a backhoe parked near the seating area near Fest House (bottom left corner of the webcam screen). 2. There is a dump truck parked in the concession space across from the Guess Your Weight game, with it's back to the pond. 3. Part of the fence at the north end of the pond is now gone. 4, It looks to me as if a portion of the fence behind the Slingshot has been removed. (could be optical illusion...not certain). It would be nice if the fence was removed so that you can view the complete drop of the Banshee, of course there would need to be protective fencing of some kind around the bottom. Do any of you see any additional activity in Octoberfest? edit: Number four is an optical illusion. (but it would be cool to see the entire drop.4 points

They should be named The Diplomatic Forest. And I agree. See Grizzly at Kings Dominion. All too well.4 points

I'm not sure that after 2 months of posting you're able to critically assert this as a "Fanboy-Site." For what its worth I've never mentioned anything about taxpayers being at risk, I know I've never taken the time to dig up proof, therefore never mentioned. (If I have, though... i selectively have short-term memory) Your posts do seem to scream "D-Fense" more often than not in your 18 posts... just seems to me that you are more than the average Louisville-ite awaiting the park to open.4 points

If you live in town and have a season pass (and it wouldn't cause a work conflict), I'd suggest going at least long enough to see how crowds are. This is the first time that I can remember Opening Day falling on a weekday. As such, there may not be terrible crowds. With it also being a holiday (and one that many get the day off work for) it is very hard to estimate how crowds will be. The only way to know is to go (or look at webcams, but that isn't nearly as FUN. Personally, I think I may go after work, even if it's crowded to the point that I/we wouldn't get to ride anything. I want in the park so bad right now, I'd go now (even in this cold) if they'd let me.4 points

Generally, trademarks like eBay and iPhone where the capital letter is the second letter rather than the first are always unchanged at the start of a sentence (first letter remains lowercase). With trademarks like adidas where the entire word is lowercase with no capital letters, when used at the start of a sentence I've seen the first letter both capitalized and uncapitalized with roughly equal frequency, and neither seems to be inherently wrong (and some style guides dictate capitalizing such trademarks all the time, including Wikipedia's own style guide). Either way, in formal writing it's better to recast the sentence to avoid the issue altogether.3 points

As requested (this may or may not end up sideways; TinyPic's being weird): Sorry for the weird angle; the lighting was such that a straight-on picture would have had my silhouette in the middle of a really bright glare. That's a safe bet. Thanks for the picture! If you feel inclined to share any more, they'd definitely be appreciated.3 points

eBay, iPhone, iPad, and adidas might disagree with you. Don't forget maXair... What do we do if one of these trademarks is the first word in a sentence? In the past, I've always avoided opening a sentence with a lower-case trademark. But it might be good to know.3 points

Sorry Tanna, you did not say that quote. There was so much imbedded stuff I could not quote as I normally would without cluttering this thread. In the process of trying to cut out the less important text, I unintentionally mixed up you and faeriewench. I have now edited the post; putting words in other people's mouth is one of the last things I would do. Will you ever forgive me?3 points

Why not use the playlist that was used for the Banshee announcement night. 1. Scream and Shout. 2. This Girl is On Fire. 3. Like We're Gonna Die Young. I can't remember the others. What other songs were used?3 points

In recent years we've seen Kings Island recognize that it can use film score to really create lasting impressions and set moods and tones for its more atmospheric attractions, so I'd expect top 2012's 40 to be the foundation of the queue playlist.3 points

Afte listening to the interview with Don (a few pages back), I remember him saying that Banshee will look like it has a long line but with staff working to their full potential, the line would be about an hour to an hour and a half. Maybe he was talking about Media Day. Maybe he was talking about opening day. Drummer out.3 points

Banshee will most definitely tun till at least 23:00 guaranteed. I would've be surprised for it to still have a 2 to 3 hour wait at line closure. I dunno.. They have been promoting Banshee as a must-ride for night time.3 points

Nice find! Some of those post cards are from Chester Park, which was a competitor to Coney in the early 1900s. It was located over off of Spring Grove Avenue. I believe that the Cincinnati Water Works now has a building on the site of what was the park.3 points

Well I'm sure Banshee won't have a freezing lake wind affecting the ride experience because if so, we've got bigger problems.2 points

Maybe it's the bitter, bitter cold talking ...but somehow, this doesn't make me feel better. Can't it be April now?!2 points

Probably never. Diamondback didn't have one. Many B&M's don't. It's a B&M without nearby intruding vegetation. Plus, given this beauty's terrain, it would not be easy...and wouldn't serve a worthwhile purpose. I was just thinking they'd do one for the clearance of the ground and the supports since you'll be flying by nearly all of them.2 points
