I am so sorry for your loss. I had three friends in 14 months killed due to drinking and driving in three separate accidents. I have seen the devastation it's left the families. I know it has to be hard for you. Two out of three were sober. This is Rob's vehicle. It's so not worth it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk8 points

Zodiac is present here kingsisland2 by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr I'm guessing this was taken 1985-86? (my dad doesn't even remember, lol) I forget when The Bat was originally removed, but you can see "footers" on the ground where it was.7 points

One of my best friends and coaster buddies was killed in a car wreck on the 4th of July, 2011. They hit a tree. None of the three young men in the vehicle survived. No alcohol was involved, just teenagers being stupid. I know how that experience feels. Drive safely, everyone. You aren't invincible, and no matter where you're going, it's better to get there a little more slowly than to get there in a body bag.7 points

I was very disappointed with Rock and Roll never forget, it remains one of the worst shows I have seen anywhere. I do wish we would get more out of house shows like Ed Alonzo. Cedar Fair sometimes has a winner when it comes to shows... but sadly most of the time they don't live up to expectations Paramount and/or Taft brought to the park.7 points

Smurfs by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr Me with my cousins. Off topic, on the far left is Troy, and in another month will be the 3rd year anniversary of his death. Since the weather has begun to become nicer, I am seeing a lot of bold, yet highly stupid, people with a bad case of spring fever on the roads driving like lunatics and it reminded me of Troy. Never drink and drive, and also even if you haven't touched a drop do not allow yourself ride as a passenger of a vehicle driven by a drunk (which is what happened to Troy). Many of my earliest KI memories involve him and his brothers.7 points

I don't want to jinx it but of all the arguments we did have this offseason not one of them have been about footers vs. footings.5 points

Yeah, I wouldn't even know about the park being reopened if it weren't for this site discussing it and posting pictures.5 points

Wait KK is getting a new coaster...The amount of focus on waterpark is telling, prediction for the future? Or short-sighted PR? Construction on the waterpark started before the coaster.5 points

I worked on a large chicken egg farm, shoveling beneath the cages for ONE DAY. Believe me, it can be spine tingling.5 points

Based off Flight Commander (1990-1995) but no Action Theater (1994-Present), that'd put it somewhere from 1990 through 1993. Any other pictures from the same trip could help narrow that down though.4 points

With this new Chicken Shack, I hope they take down the metel paneling and put some new wood on there to make it look like a "Chicken Shack"4 points

I agree with some TLC, seeing I saw a small dead rodent at the Fast Lane entrance last season.4 points

Sorry to double post; mobile is giving me a hard time with quoting two posts in one reply. The Bat last operated in 1983 and, although planned to operate in 1984 (similar to Cedar Point's Wildcat, a crew was even hired to work it), the ride instead sat dormant before being demolished. Unlike Son of Beast though, it didn't sit idle for 3+ years - I'm pretty sure it was fully removed by the end of 1984, pardon the station and random footings we're left with today.3 points

Theyre probably just testing the drive wheels between the station and the transfer track area.3 points

All negativity, disgust, and low hopes aside. I am very excited to ride this, this year at least, ride. It will be good to see all the things they have done to "spruce" up the park, and get it ready for the re-opening in person. I'll be sure to take many of pictures to share.3 points

I agree with most others. I think the theme and everything is fine as it is but it could use a little TLC. Fix up some of the lights and effects with the UFO and things, maybe upgrade some of it a bit too. Would really like to see that area get some work done on it next as a whole. Add a flat ride or two and some restrooms, maybe a food stand too and make it it's own full fledged section.3 points

When it comes to Kentucky Kingdom and effective marketing, one, like Clara Peller, is tempted to ask, are you there? Or, more perzactly, "Is anybody back there?" or "Where's the beef?"3 points

Do we know what it's replacing? Very exciting! It does more or less wound the rumors here of the land's identity switching. "Chicken Shack" isn't exactly the kind of thing you'd see in a spine-tingling haunted forest area at a park.3 points

Another view.... Kings Island on Facebook: "The process of painting the cars for the trains on The Bat roller coaster is underway starting with a coat of primer. I was going through some of my dad's old photo albums recently and came across this photo. This is a picture of my sister and me at KI in the late 80s. I'm on the right (what was I thinking with that outfit?) and my sister is on the left. The little girl in the middle is now my step-niece.3 points
