I'd hate to see how you kids would have been back in my day. Back in the '70s and '80s we didn't have your internets and your webcams, your chatrooms and your forums. The park closed in the fall, it reopened in the spring, and more times than not there would be a new ride there. Whether we liked it or not, we either had to wait until the commercials started in the spring, catch a story in the newspaper* or actually go to the park to see what it was going to be. Now get off my lawn. *A newspaper was a publication, usually printed daily with a more extended edition on Sundays, that included news articles, opinion pieces, public interest stories, classified ads and comics (or "funnies"), among other items. They could commonly be purchased in stores, at "newsstands", or delivered to one's home for a fee. With the advancement of technology, newspapers have become more and more rare, although online editions of some of these publications have managed to survive.15 points

Had another one last night, folks! Just hours after I turned 15! I was at Kings Island, standing by Vortex like always. The trees had no leaves on them and it was cloudy. I followed a small line of people into Vortex's queue when meanwhile, I noticed the trains were parked, empty, in their normal spots, so I'm guessing the time was in early/mid March. But when we got to the station, a normal car (not a coaster car) was sitting parked where a normal Vortex train would be. I remember what the "car" looked like; it looked very similar to my mom's 2005 Toyota Highlander. Then the people and I go to the lowest level of the station (the part below the queue that's on the side facing the ride's course) and get there to see Don himself standing on the grass in front of us, telling jokes. He was a comedian! He was still wearing his normal blue shirt and khakis (like when you normally see him at the park). I could remember what he actually was saying in the dream when I woke up this morning, but now I forget. After the comedian part, the dream ended. This morning, when I woke up, I was thinking it would feel a lot like spring outside even though it was in the teens. I believe I may have caught an offseason flu. From Kings Island's official Twitter account: Coaster Connection in Action Zone is where you'll find Banshee souvenirs and apparel during your visits to the park this year. Found here: https://twitter.com/KingsIslandPR/status/438802964128739328 Looks like we have a new shop called Coaster Connection. The question is, will this be the former On-Location shop, or the under-station of Banshee?6 points

For most of Slaughter House, light getting in over the walls is only an issue for the first hour or so of each night, with that amount of time decreasing as the season goes on due to the sun setting earlier. Sory, Mama tryz 2 git us boys 2 showr butt we dont tak 2 kindly 2 watr so all that stink gits bilt up! -Sam6 points

Here's an idea. We're all fanb... Enthusiasts here, no? How many times are we going to visit Halloween Haunt per season in comparison to the general public? For some of us, a lot more! Which means that we're going through the same haunts time and time again, year after year. So what happens then? They get less scarier. We get used to it. I think it's unfair to just claim that these haunts are lacking because they're under the microscope of fanb... Enthusiasts. Scrutiny. So much scrutiny. Some of you guys just wants to rip stuff out and dump it because they don't like it. The park doesn't base it's decisions off of our opinions. The general public comes first. Just because some thing isn't scary (to you)doesn't mean it's not for others. Oh. Yea, let's get rid of the Haunt with attractive women in skimpy clothing? How about no. Thank you very much.6 points

We don't have to take Ohiocolts through haunts.. Just force him in the front of the coldest day of the season on Race for Your Life Never forget "Are you cold?" "yeah" "Good" Hahaha5 points

Given the time of year it is I'm going to guess that this is destined for somewhere overseas. Most likely China, as stated in the Screamscape report.5 points

I apologize for going off subject here, but i could not find the appropriate topic. (Feel free to point me in the right direction). Canada's Wonderland recently posted a picture of what their new Backlot Stunt Coaster trains will look like. Kings Island is also revamping the trains on the same ride. Here's what Canada's Wonderlands BSC trains will look like. This image can be found on Canada's Wonderlands Facebook page. EDIT: The trains will be red, white, and blue. P.S. After reading the comments on the picture, some of the folks in Canada don't sound too happy about the colors of the trains.5 points

I have thought for a couple years that KI does need to pull back and re-engineer the Haunt event. Some haunts have great theming and design, but others look like they just threw stuff they found into it. Board to Death this last year was a HUGE improvement over Mysteria's morphsuit madness. Many of the haunts are long worn out. New ideas, new concepts need to be changed every 3-5 years at most. I really think they need a dedicated team away from shows that handle design and building. Shows can take over for staffing after the haunt is designed and storyboarded. They do need to cut down on the number of houses, 8-9 would be just about right. so those people could be used better in other haunts or scare zones. They also REALLY need to work on light control. That is the biggest thing to ruin a scare is if you can see them before they scare you. Wolfpack, Holiday Horrors, Corn Stalkers and Slaughter House all have areas where just a higher wall, stage scrim, or even black plastic could keep light from filling into the haunt. I also like how Carowinds team made most of their facades and pieces fork lift ready. They need a shop either on or off site that these can be created, without taxing out park carpenters or show techs. If they wanted to spend the cash instead of paying rent, they could even modify the Crypt building by building a shop mezzanine where they could build and age set pieces for Haunt or even just for a stage show. Then put in a false floor at queue level for the haunt attraction below. Then you don't have stairs or lifts to deal with. And a simple freight elevator to move things up and down. You could even use the queue level as storage until its time to build out, but then that building could be totally purposed.5 points

There's also a restaurant based in North Carolina called Cookout. It has scripture on their cups and play Christian music. They built one right down the road from EKU and you can't get near the place from 5 to 7 because of every one eating there. It's open 7 days a week. Secular college students don't seem to mind. If the service and product are good people will come. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I547 using Tapatalk4 points

I had a really weird one. It was another where Banshee was two rides. You rode the coaster part, and it ended with the seats separating, and connecting to a Drop Tower-like ride. (The actual Drop Tower was still there, so it wasn't the same one.) When you got to the top of the tower, it spun slowly once, giving you a view of the park, then it spun about 35 MPH and released the seats, and parachutes came out. They had to replace the seats with each train. Most people rode it for the parachute thing. Whatever I ate before bed is now a no-no item. I don't want to continue having these ridiculous dreams. I found these pictures on Screamscape website. I wonder where the track pieces will be going? Where and what do you think these could be for? I'm hoping Carowinds! I may be going their this year. Here is what Screamscape said, Our local Screamscape spy dropped by the B&M Track Fabricator plant in Ohio and snapped up pictures of brand new bright yellow coaster track. If I’m reading the label right this is for a new B&M Flying coaster, and they do have one on the way to China for the Wanda Group set to open in 2014 at the Xishuangbanna International Resort park. The concept art for this coaster found onVHCoasters however had blue track and not yellow, so while this track could be for another project, I’m still thinking this is still the Wanda coaster unless someone knows of another B&M Flyer in the works. You can find the website at http://www.screamscape.com/html/bmtrack_0.htm3 points

As someone who has only ever gone through one Haunt more than once (Madame Fatale's), I can tell you that it isn't just our jadedness making us speak negatively. Many of the Haunts are extremely lackluster, even on the first time through.-Homestar92, who wants back the 3 hours he invested in Tombstone Terror-Tory, but would happily go for another trip through Slaughterhouse. Enjoy what you have before its gone.3 points

You haven't. Via their website: "Our founder, Truett Cathy, made the decision to close on Sundays in 1946 when he opened his first restaurant in Hapeville, Georgia. He has often shared that his decision was as much practical as spiritual. He believes that all franchised Chick-fil-A® Operators and Restaurant employees should have an opportunity to rest, spend time with family and friends, and worship if they choose to do so. That's why all Chick-fil-A Restaurants are closed on Sundays. It's part of our recipe for success." http://www.chick-fil-a.com/FAQ#?category=2 (Edit: Dang it, Terp beat me by a hair!)3 points

In reference to the picture of Backlot coaster up in Canada... KI's Backlot trains already had a good amount of fiberglass work done to them a few years ago to try and distance itself from the Italian Job theme.3 points

Hush y'all! I want it to be Banshee's Under-station so that On-Location can be repurposed as the queue for a set of Flying Scooters!3 points

^ My guess is that it will be the former On-Location. If it was under the Banshee station, they might have called it something like "Banshee Connection", or "Scream Seekers".3 points

I used to have the same mindset as you (except for Club Blood) before I started going through other haunted houses outside Kings Island. If what you said is true about basing decisions off the general public at the Haunt, then almost every haunted house in the nation would be bankrupt as they change the layout of their attractions year in and year out to keep their customers coming back year after year, and some customers complain that it should have stayed the same. But I find it quite hypocritical that, while you ignore the reasons why some of us "enthusiast fanboys" want to see an event we love become even greater than it is and instead assume we don't find Haunt "scary", you're defending a maze for the sole reason that it has "attractive women in skimpy clothing."3 points

I disagree with them needing to remove trees for better views of the rides. The trees at the park are on of the best aspects of it. The wooded closed in nature gives it a very different feel. Just imagine how The Beast would be if the woods were all cleared away just so people could see the ride better from the midway, it would lose a large portion of its appeal and charm. I'm all for adding more trees where possible.3 points

The park has asked KICentral to relay a public notice to the general public that they will be patrolling their property. Anyone found to be on their property - including passenger pickup area - will be asked to leave. The park has done a extremely good job keeping their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram up to date during the off season as well as sending in photos to KICentral that I'm sure they will film/photograph and send it out through the channels before we even know its testing. Thank you.3 points
