There's a reason I've been posting less lately, not that I expect anyone to notice my lack of presence. I often roll my eyes when some members purposely break the rules, and 9 times out of 10 I don't say anything. Generally I only express my opinion on these matters when people demand they are entitled to rights and privileges that they most certainly are not. That's another argument, so continuing on... The arguing, bickering, complaining, and otherwise childish behavior has been ridiculous. The lack of respect for others has been a turn off also. If someone has information that they've been asked not to divulge then leave it be. On the same note, perhaps someone with that information shouldn't make it known and fish people. The reason Don left is the business of Don and possibly the park, but certainly none of any member of KIC's. Let it be. If we're meant to know, one day we will. If we're not, then things are as they should be. Also, to kind of put this back on the rails, I'm glad to see Banshee running again and I can hardly wait to ride.15 points

Explain to me then why YouTube videos taken of Banshee from OFF property testing were asked to be removed from the site? Even though it was created completely legally. Is it illegal to tape the park from off property? Its more than just links and photos. They have been controlling every little thing. You don't see that being done to lets say, TPR? They have events and such all the time. They post stuff like that all the time. I don't see TPR getting hate from parks? Also, when you cited your papers in school. Did you contact every source you used, and asked if you could use it on your paper? I can guarantee that is a no. Have you ever gone over the speed limit in your car by 1 or 2 mph? Oh you broke the law. Ever casually roll through a stop sign? Ohp. That too. HUGE difference between law, and justice. Im not going to touch the speeding thing (because fun fact, speedometers have to be accurate to a percentage not 100% but close, like off by no more than 3-5 MPH), and have no idea about why YouTube videos were removed (are we sure they were shot on public property and not private?). However, about citing a paper. Many many research books, journals, and papers all have a claim about how to cite them. They give explicit permission to use their information for citing. So you dont have to call them and ask for permission. I will say this in general for everyone. In life you must know whats worth fighting for and whats not worth fighting for. Its called picking your hill to die on. Is it really worth getting banned from here or causing major issues with the park for you to not use trademarks correctly or to link to things without proper usage. In life you will find things worth fighting for, a child or parent, maybe its to get a heart/kidney transplant but insurance says its not covered. Those are the hills to die on. Being upset over being told to link or use trademark is silly and immature when compared to the 100 of thousands of worse things out there.12 points

I understand that we have (or had?) an excellent relationship with the park and that is why the admins are so willing to comply with the requests from the park. But, I feel that some of the requests have gone too far, and that's why there is some backlash. Trespassing: It is illegal so that should go without saying. I feel that legally photos or videos taken of the park during the off season should be fair game. If the park doesn't want photos or videos taken, they should be working with their neighbors to enforce trespassing as the park does. The capitalization stuff: I understand that the park owns the trademarks and they should be able to ask to have them capitalized, but they also have to realize that this is the internet; spelling, punctuation, grammar and capitalization sometime does by the wayside when you're making a quick post. Also, this request should only be applied to KIC and the parks trademarks not to sites like Google. Siting sources: I agree with the park their officially released material should be sited. Just like above though, I feel that this should only apply to KIC and the parks material. With all this said, I do feel that we should respect the wishes of the park, but they and we have to realize that we are and independent forum. Can you imagine decoding thread with the current rules? Wouldn't be much decoding going on.11 points

Hi there, Longtime lurker, first time poster I rediscovered my love for KI a couple of years ago, after being absent from the park for over a decade (Paramount years = unpleasant, IMHO). So I wasn't around for the first season of Diamondback. For those who were, can you speak to the relative reliability, or downtime, for that ride in that first year? I bought gold passes for my nieces for Christmas and we're all very excited to ride Banshee (shocker) but I feel like I should prepare them if it's likely the ride is likely to be non-operational often during the first season. I hope I posted this in the right thread, and followed all of the rules. Thanks!9 points

Oh, just wait until all the 13-year-old boys start cracking jokes about riding a female coaster come Opening Day. All of them? I think ohiocolts is a tad more mature than that....9 points

Let's stop beating a dead horse on the other subject matter and move forward please! Much appreciated! As owner of this topic, I am glad you got us back on track! I was thinking how cool it is going to be on Banshee or Delirium with those rides being so close together. Swinging on Delirium I am hoping it will feel like I will be able to kick a Banshee train as it goes by! Lot's of "Action" to look forward to this season!9 points

Sorry to get off topic, but does anyone think they're testing today. As far as I know, seems like a good day.9 points

Oh you broke the law. Ever casually roll through a stop sign? Ohp. That too. HUGE difference between law, and justice. The reason for the photos/videos thing is likely because the park doesn't want people thinking they can just come by the park anytime they want to get photos/videos. Most of us here already know that we're not allowed to take pictures/videos from park property right now, but someone else might not know that. The park has better things to do right now than kick people off property for trespassing, and preventing unofficial images/videos lessens the likelihood that they'll have to deal with that. The paper citation and traffic laws are irrelevant here. The point is, the park has asked us to do something, and there's no reason to complain about it. If you don't like the rules, go elsewhere or don't post things that will be affected by those rules. I cannot explain why other parks don't do this to TPR (or even if they do, as I don't visit that site much). This isn't TPR, and KI isn't other parks. Long story short, the first rule of any fan forum is to never be on the bad side of whatever official entity your site is about. They can and will find ways to shut you down if they don't like how you're representing their image.9 points

Let me be clear here: I cannot say everything happening here, as I explained in my appology to BB1, theres so much back channeling going on here you don't even realize it. I'm standing my ground, as I have the right to, yes people are upset about it, but enough was enough. I dealt with the citing park sources, etc. that was fine and I understand/agree with it. For instance it helps us go to the discussions over at those forms of media (say their FB video of the new live show, Banshee testing pics on their Instagram, etc.). I had no problem with doing that, or the other little things. However when you say I can't post things or whatever regarding stuff they have no control of, that's when I have issues. The park isn't Area 51, far from it. This mentality thinking they have this much control and can use this how they want and control what we post was getting on my nerves. Honestly telling me to not do it, just made it that much more tempting. Also might I add I've still complied with not posting anything from testing on KIC. I've only given a bit of verbal outcry. Just saying. I rest my case. As for the rest of the forum, this isn't some free for all troll everyone, eff the police deal like it seemed to be the past few days, which honestly makes us look bad. Keep organized, respectful, and contribute to some great big threads in here. Look how many views and hits and posts we get here on some of these threads. We're an excellent community here at KIC, please keep it that way. I didn't verbally express my opinions to cause a huge flamewar and throw this into chaos. I did it to show CF/KI we are KIC and they are not and they need to respect that like they do with other enthusiast sites, so far it seems to have sent a message. But don't give them a reason to crack down or roll their eyes because people can't act the same before and after someone who works from the park is no longer on the site as a user.8 points

I highly doubt KI is going to put a smoking area right in front of a new $20+ million ride that want people to ride.8 points

Just to give you guys the kind of confidence behind the minds at B&M, when Nemesis opened at Alton Towers, John Wardley, a major concept designer in the industry and the creative mind behind AT's more infamous rides, infamously asked Walter Bolliger up front "What if the ride stalls? How will we get trains back to the station?" and Walter replied "Our coasters never stall. They always work perfectly the first time."7 points

^ Do not post pictures of Banshee testing, even if from off park property. Kings Island has specifically requested this.7 points

Bingo. Wookieepedia (a Star Wars wiki that I am an admin on) has on a couple of occasions put in place and enforced an arbitrary rule that we normally wouldn't have because Lucasfilm or one of its affiliates asked us to. We chose to comply rather than get on their bad side, when they could easily shut down the entire wiki with one DMCA takedown notice. We now have a strong relationship with Lucasfilm, to the point where the pages on characters and other subjects on starwars.com now contain just brief summaries and link to their respective articles on Wookieepedia for "more information". Unfortunately, some users on KIC have chosen the opposite path, and the result is the current situation with Don being angry enough to have his account deleted.7 points

Guys, in exactly one month, Banshee will be giving her first official night rides! (excluding the Scream For A Kid Again event)6 points

B&M coasters are pretty reliable. Diamondback operated with little problem during its first year. I would expect the same with Banshee. A big problem with Paramount-era rides were a lot of them were prototype rides, thus more suspect to downtime. Banshee is a relatively tried and true design with slight tinkers here and there, shouldn't be much problem.6 points

This is an enthusiast built website correct? If King's Island wants an official forum with rules to follow they should make one. Anyway I just want media day to be here. All of the going back and forth about capitalization, linking, and legal photos is getting pretty old and I've only been on here maybe two months. But hey, its traffic and new posts right?6 points

@KingsIslandPR on Twitter: Early rides every public operating day 30 minutes before the park opens on Banshee for Gold & Platinum passholders this year! From the park's Twitter page: https://twitter.com/kingsislandpr/status/445767743439396865 So is Banshee it, or will there be more rides as well?6 points

I love this ride. My daughter, one of her friends and I rode it. We still laugh about it. "Are you ready girls?" "No!" "Get ready we are going on 3! One!" "No!" "Two!" I pull the cord in two of course. What a rush on that drop. If I was not on the pull side we'd still be up there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk5 points

Welcome to KIC. I have to agree about the Paramount days. I have never seen extraordinarily lengthy delays with Diamondback ever. The only times were due to storms in the area, not due to mechanical issues. Others may have experienced issues that I have not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk5 points

I think that, like the Diamondback cam, the Banshee cam will remain a "permanent" cam.5 points

Just think how different that area is going to look in a few weeks when grass starts coming up (Assuming they are planting grass around Banshee). We've been looking at the same barren dirt ground for nearly 2 years. I can't wait!5 points

I thought there was something wrong with the camera the last few days with the big white spot that is currently right in the center of the first drop. Then it dawned on me it is just a glare from the sun!5 points

^ Facebook Inc. indeed made a policy change that would have given them the right to use your posted content for any commercial purpose. This would have allowed them to use your likeness to promote products, throughout the universe in perpetuity. They were forced to backtrack somewhat after intense user outrage. By the way, "Facebook" is a registered trademark of the aforementioned company, so you should capitalize it. Some of us choose which websites we decide to associate with.5 points

Whether you like the rules or not, just follow them. Think of all the cool perks we've had. Do we really want those perks taken away? I sure don't. The past 3-5 pages have been nothing but arguing about the rules. Can we just agree to follow the rules and move on!5 points

That part I will make tomorrow I would assume, right or wrong, Racer would be the mom (due to a multitude of rides) and KI would be the dad for other reasons.... Mom's got a split personality.5 points
