To say that "Cirque Imagine" at Kings Island is a showcase of strength, balance, and athleticism is an incredible understatement for a show that offers such an amazing spectacle for children and adults alike. Late Friday afternoon, Kings Island announced that they would allow their guests to see a sneak preview of the most anticipated show of the park's 2014 entertainment lineup. Dozens of members of the media as well as hundreds of lucky park goers eagerly awaited the beginning of the show which was set to start later that evening. Some guests lined up over an hour in advance to grab what was being called "limited seating" for this impromptu park perk. Those who waited to snag a seat for this preview spent their time wisely. As one act ended and the next began, a concert-like roar of applause swept through the theater. While each stunt was performed, a nervous gasp for air could be heard followed by a collective sigh of relief by the patrons in attendance. Amazed spectators gave the cast a standing ovation following the final bow to the likes of a fine symphony or orchestral performance. There are few words to describe the energy behind this spectacle, yet I feel as though I can not say enough about it. It is beyond what one would call a "must see" show and treads into the territory of, "you've got to see it to believe it." Well done, Kings Island. Well done. "Cirque Imagine" opens May 24th and is included FREE with park admission. Other Kings Island entertainment options include "The Boyz Are Back" which is now playing in the Festhaus, "Charlie Brown's Hoedown" currently playing in the PEANUTS Playhouse, "Rock 'n Roll Never Forgets" opening May 31st, the return of the extremely popular "Flashback! Totally 80's!" on June 13th, as well as the live music of "Playlist Live!" on June 6th. All shows are included with park admission. For more information including ticket prices, show schedules, calendar, special events and more, check out Kings Island's official web site at www.visitkingsisland.com8 points

I braved my embarrassment and rode Surf Dog. I was seated next to a couple cute and talkative 5-6 year old girls. The one nearest me told me that she doesn't like Surf Dog because it is scary. I didn't press her on why she was riding it then. About halfway through, she started repeating "I want my mommy." She looked at me to see if I was scared too, and I think for reassurance (I'm probably older than her mommy). I was a little worried for her, but she wasn't squirting any tears, nor did she look truly frightened, just a little unsure. She continued chanting "I want my mommy" for most of the rest of the ride. Then when it finally stopped, she enthusiastically told her friend "let's ride it again!" I think that is a future coaster enthusiast in the making!5 points

5/23: -Rode Banshee for the first time since Media Day -Saw Beastie1980, momofbeastie1980, LoraX, Katie.Greg, ohiocolts and UnrealNightmare again (and I waited in line for Banshee right behind Fire-Beast-OF FEAR!) -One of my rides on Banshee was a twilight ride (and my very first twilight ride!) -Line for Banshee moved very fast the second time I rode it -Lines for some rides (including Vortex) were really short; I was able to marathon/power-ride Vortex and get 3 rides in before the fireworks! -My very first fireworks ride on WindSeeker! It was incredible!4 points

For now, I am hoping that all workers on each ride are trained in that particular ride's rules. For example, on Banshee, some of the line workers would let people with backpacks go through if the people said they were switching bags with their fellow riders. "Me and my husband will hold the bags while the kids ride, then we will switch." At other times, the line workers would say in no uncertain terms that bags WERE NOT permitted in the line. Although this really doesn't affect my family (we have one with vertigo problems so she stays with the bags), it can cause problems.3 points

I think you generally have to actually ask for row 1. I got in it once by accident because I was a single rider and they had 3 waiting for it, but most of the time there are at least a couple groups waiting for it. I assume that is because those groups specifically asked. I did enjoy row 1 quite a bit.3 points

I must admit, I kind of dismissed the show at first. I had the mentality of, "I've seen the REAL Cirque, I don't need this" although I still thought it would be a nice addition to Kings Island. I can honestly tell you I was blown away. Comparing it to Cirque du Solei isn't a fair comparison because of how different the products are. Imagine the acrobatics and action of a traditional circus with the mystical spirit of Cirque... most of which is within a couple dozen feet of you. I think you'll really enjoy it and I look forward to everyone's reaction.3 points

This will be a quadruple post (yikes!) but a couple days later, I'm bringing you the second half of my trip report and discuss the flat rides, in no particular order. Taking a counter-clockwise loop around the park, the first flat you'll arrive at is Riptide. Riptide is a Mondial Top Spin, but it is a bit different than the typical ones. Instead of one gondola with two rows, it has two individual gondolas on the same end of the arm, each with one row. Imagine a "Y" shape, and that's what the arm looks like. I don't care for this variety of Top Spin. You don't get the same acrobatic flips you experience on a HUSS Top Spin, and the only times I recall being upside-down is when the brakes were locked to prevent the gondola from spinning and the entire arm moved in a circle. It did feature synchronized water jets unlike the Top Spin at Darien Lake, but I liked the one at Darien Lake better. Honestly, I enjoyed The Crypt more than Riptide, even with its post-2008 cycle. Next up is the Spinovator. This is a Mack Calypso ride, so those who have been to Cedar Point may recognize it. The experience is almost akin to a Scrambler tilted 45 degrees. The ride is not really unique to this park, as these are relatively common, but it does more than make up for their lack of a Scrambler by offering up an experience that is comfortably familiar, but different enough to be surprising and fun. I did not ride their Drop Tower, but I can comment on what I know about it. It is 227 feet tall, so it is a fair bit shorter than the one at Kings Island. It is a Giant Drop rather than a Gyro Drop, so it seats less people per cycle and it does not rotate as you ascend the tower. Like the one at KI, it has the horrible Paramount paint scheme that is just as out-of-place in the Medieval Faire section as ours is in the New-and-improved Action Zone. Finally, it does not play Van Halen, so the one at Kings Island is substantially better on that basis alone. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing Drop Towers are good for is keeping a few people held up in line who would otherwise be in line ahead of me for rides that are actually fun. Since I skipped their Swinging Ship, The last flat that I rode in the Medieval Faire section was Nightmares. Nightmares is a HUSS UFO ride. Imagine it like a Rotor that tilts to nearly 90 degrees. Imagine the Super Roundup from Coney, the Electric Rainbow from Stricker's, or the Revolution at Holiday World, only a lot bigger. Next up is their version of Boo Blasters on Boo Hill. Their capacity is much lower as they do not have a continuous loading system like we do at KI. Their course is also shorter and less involved, and not all of the targets were enabled during either of my rides. However, ALL OF THE BLASTERS WORK! I was able to get a decent score despite the significantly shorter cycle, and I even set the scoring record for the day my second time around with a score of 1710. It's not a flat ride, but I will add that I intended to go through their Dinosaurs Alive, but apparently Platinum Passes from KI do not qualify for free admission to Dinosaurs Alive at Canada's Wonderland, or at least their computer did not think so. Rather than argue with this point, I decided to move on and continue riding things. These aren't flats either, but I'll go ahead and review their two kids' coasters while we're in their kids areas. First, their Ghoster Coaster. It is a clone of KI's Woodstock Express as far as I can tell, but it is not painted. It was the smoothest of the Woodstock Express clones I've ridden, with Carowinds' being the roughest, and KI's being in the middle. Next up is the SIlver Streak. This is one of the earlier Vekoma Suspended Family Coasters. The layout isn't much different than on Flying Ace Aerial Chase (if at all) and so there isn't a whole lot to say. The OTSRs are a little bit thinner, but that's the only difference that is apparent to me. Leaving Planet Snoopy and Kidzville, the next section is the International Festival. The first ride here is Shockwave. This is a Mondial Top Scan. It is a very fun and intense flat that has you nearly upside-down several times. I don't think you ever actually go fully upside-down though. It is definitely a fun and unique ride that has you spinning around every which way for nearly three minutes. I imagine Protein Spills are a common occurrence on this one. Next up was Klockwerks. This is a HUSS Swing Around just like the Corn Popper at Darien Lake. It spins you in a circle while moving your individual cart in and out. When one cart is inside, the next will be outside and vice versa. You get some nice laterals when it shifts you in and out. Definitely a fun ride that anyone can enjoy, as it is thrilling without being too intense. After this was Krachenwagen, a set of Dodgems so incredibly sub-par that I will not do them the service of talking about them any further than this. Finally, making the LONG loop to their Action Zone, you can see the real treats that Canada's Wonderland has to offer. It is home to their Antique Carousel from 1928. It is a beautiful carousel, but it has no band organ (not even a non-functional one like at KI). They play recorded carousel music, but it is very quiet and played through a really low quality PA system. Some better musical accompaniment would do wonders for this beautiful old carousel. Also in Action Zone is Orbiter, a HUSS Giant Enterprise like the former Skylab at Kings Island. I actually enjoyed it a lot more than the smaller Enterprise rides. Its cycle is less nauseating, so I was able to enjoy it more. The cabins are comfortable, and I could honestly take a nap inside them, which is certainly not bad thing. The last two flats are where it gets interesting. First, you have Psyclone. The ride is a Mondial Frisbee. The experience is similar to Delirium, but amazingly, it manages to have an even shorter ride cycle. My favorite Frisbee is still maXair, pending my thoughts on Black Widow when I return to Kennywood. More interesting, however, is its sign. It uses the same arch as Invertigo's sign, but lo and behold, it ISN'T YELLOW! It's actually red! As crazy as it sounds, those signs can actually be painted other colors than yellow and the world doesn't end. I sure would like to know how those arches would look in blue... The last flat is Sledge Hammer, a HUSS Giant Jump 2, and the only one of its kind in the world. I can't even begin to describe this thing, so I encourage you to look up and off-ride video. It is a wondrous thing to watch and even more fun to ride. The ride looks as if it would be very violent, but the actual experience is smooth and enjoyable. I really liked this ride a lot and it truly brought out screams of pure thrill from everyone who rode it. I think that about covers the flats besides WindSeeker, and I think we all know what that ride is like. No need to go into detail here. And I think that should just about do it for the trip report!3 points

It turns out that the finale is: Some other info: - Queue is very very short...apparently only able to hold a 30-45 minute line. - The ride overall is apparently "short" - The track outside the mountain is apparently a bit rough. - Defiantly is not "better than Dinsey" (quoting what TrioTech said in August) I didn't get a pass this year so this info is coming from members on CW Mania.2 points

DISCOVERY COVE Discovery Cove is fantastic. If you're on a budget, I'd even recommend doing it without the "dolphin interaction" portion. It adds about $100 per person onto the ticket price, and while it's a really unique experience, it lasts only about 10 minutes and certainly isn't the frolicking in the water with dolphins you'd imagine it as. It's fantastic to interact with them, but if you'd rather save the hundreds, you'll still have a great day. The good news is that a day at Discovery Cove also comes with two weeks of access to SeaWorld OR Busch Gardens, including the free shuttle to Busch Gardens from SeaWorld's parking lot. For a slight up-charge, your Discovery Cove pass is good for two weeks at SeaWorld AND Busch Gardens. HOTELS / TRANSPORTATION As for where to stay, base that on the focus of your trip. Consider this: the International Drive area (along which SeaWorld, the Busch Gardens shuttle, Discovery Cove, and Universal Orlando are located) has countless familiar hotels that are all reasonably priced. The entire area is also connected by the I-Ride Trolley. So if you select a hotel along International Drive, you'll have quick access to the parks, restaurants, and attractions there, and 95% of those hotels offer a free shuttle to Epcot (from which you can obviously reach the rest of Disney's parks). You will, though, need to book a Super Shuttle or other shuttle service to get you from Orlando International Airport to your hotel. Recognize that the opposite is not true - Disney does not offer any kind of shuttle to the International Drive area, Universal, SeaWorld, or Busch Gardens. You will need to get a taxi if you plan to stay on Disney property and visit Universal. Disney's whole schtick is to get their visitors to stay at long as possible. So, Disney DOES have free transportation provided via the Disney Express from Orlando Airport to your resort if you're staying on-property. EDIT: I forgot in this section that you're driving down. Still may be worth noting, though, since parking is nearing $20 at those theme parks, so saving $20 a day for a week will add up if your hotel provides a shuttle... Something to think about! WHAT TO SEE It's so hard to narrow a trip to central Florida to a few key attractions. Obviously Disney World has four parks. All have tremendous strengths and each park has at least two "must-see" attractions, so it's incredibly difficult to eliminate one or more. If you want to see Test Track, you can't skip Epcot; you can't skip Animal Kingdom if you want to ride Everest; you can't skip Disney's Hollywood Studios if you want to ride Tower of Terror. Unless you want to pack the trip to the gills and be at one park each day, you'll need to eliminate some or Park Hop, which is obviously not ideal for first-timers or if you haven't been in a long time. It's just a trade off. I cannot recommend Universal Orlando enough. Its two theme parks are incredible, aggressively expanding, perpetually updated with the most recent technology, and just a whole lot of fun. I'd say that easily, those two parks contain as many "E-tickets" as Disney World's four added together. Particularly Islands of Adventure is every bit as detailed and incredible as Disney's best, and includes thrilling coasters to boot. Each of those parks deserves a day and a half at least, but if you can only commit to one day at Universal, at least do the Park-to-Park ticket option, and do yourself the favor of buying Universal Express Pass Plus. Hop right to the front of Dueling Dragons, Poseidon's Fury, Spider-Man, Hulk, Jurassic Park, Revenge of the Mummy, Men In Black: Alien Attack, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, Transformers... There's just so much to see and do. As of now, even their front-of-the-line pass does not work on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. Doubtlessly, it won't work on Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts when that opens this summer. However, they're BOTH can't miss, and they're in two separate parks. You probably know that the easiest way to travel between them is the Hogwarts Express which connects the two parks, can only be accessed with a Park-to-Park ticket, and is said to be an E-ticket itself. Something worth considering: Universal Orlando has four on-site hotels. One is "moderately" priced. The other three would fall between Disney's categories of "moderate" and "deluxe" in terms of pricing. They can be expensive. However, your room key acts as unlimited front-of-the-line pass (the paid-for version open to everyone else allows only one skip on each attraction) AND visitors to the hotel get in to the Wizarding World an hour before everyone else. It's pricey, but if Universal is a focus of your trip, it may be worth it. Even for a night or two... NOTE: When I go to Central Florida, it's for Universal Orlando. I might take a day or two at Disney World, but Universal, to me, is exceptional.2 points

Is it possible to be tall enough but too small? Terp, who is amazed at how politically correct parks strive to be when it comes to ride requirements, at the expense of clarity. (If you are too big to ride, you cannot...or..if you don't fit, you don't ride, we decide...no US park would ever say that)2 points

**Banshee line stayed relatively short all day yesterday (23rd). I heard one person comment that this was probably because the line is fast, plus one doesn't have to "pay" to ride other rides. **The weather was absolutely perfect. **They are now handing out official flyers to those who have the season-long meal plan. This. Or this. I dont remember. On FOF, there was no line, and my friend told me that it didnt go upside down and that it didnt launch. He explained it to me in the queue area, (so that i didnt hear the launch) and then took me in. Of course i thought that it just slowly rolled out of the station, but noooooo... I ended up hating him that day. But it was fun, and i was nervous, and that pushed me over the nervousness edge. On Vortex, (It might have been first, i dont exactally remember which one i did first). I knew it went upside down. and my friend, (Same friend, same day) had told me that it felt like you were going up and then you just kept going up untuil you were down again. But then, i remember not feeling like that on the corkscrews. And not on the batwing either. He was very much hated that day.2 points

I'm wondering how they can certify those machines for human passengers. The company I work for has a relationship with Kuka robotics...makers of a ride called the Robocoaster. It's simply a high payload 6 axis industrial robot that they mounted a pair of seats with OTS restraints on. I have ridden it, and it is pretty cool. At a tradeshow a few years ago I spoke to one of the Kuka reps, and he told me how much they had to go through to get those things certified to allow people to ride. He said that while they ultrasound test every major casting for all their robots, only the absolutely perfect ones are allowed to go into the robots for the ride. The controls have redundancies and failsafes built in as well. If you've ever seen a robot "geek out" you would understand the reason for the extra caution...are excavators any different? Basically, throwing around parts on an assembly line or a bucket of dirt or gravel is very different from throwing people around to give them a thrill. I can only assume they have addressed this, but I'm curious if there are any limits on the machines? Maybe movement speed or range of motion limits?2 points

Decided last weekend with the GF to head to KI this week before Memorial Day unleashed the army of crowds across the nation's amusement parks. Judging from the webcams the last two weeks we figured Tuesday...but I had a conflict with work and had to settle for Yesterday. We left Columbus around 8:10 and headed down 71 under overcast skies with light traffic and minimal construction [are they ever going to finish that darn bridge before Mason? Its been over 2 years now]. We passed quite a few buses filled with kids, and at one point 3 back to back from Granville, so we figured they were heading to the same destination. Arrived at the park at 9:36 and forgot to look at the new sign...I just realized that. We settled down in Row 46, Invertigo and I looked toward Banshee to watch her in action with ERT travelers. A lot of buses in the lot, which I expected. 12 dollars to parkwhat a treat! We entered the Main gates with no wait and secured those superb 12 DOLLAR lockers straight to the left. There are millions of people that have to work for two hours to afford such luxury as this small metal box. At least it was at eye level. Phones, spare glasses, and purse were nestled in their suite and we headed towards the Kings Island Theatre to stand with the other patron cattle. A lot of kids and teenagers yelling and hopped up on all kinds of goofballs. We had about 10 LONG minutes of waiting. The banter grew louder because the kid noise was getting louder and of course, if things are loud, one must be even louder to get their point overheard. Finally the security officer in long sleeved white allowed the trampling processional to occur. Score 1 for humanity. His constant whistle-blowing was VERY effective for those that were pushed to the grass and over the curbs. Even saw a guy clearing a path by effectively pushing a wheelchair bound individual hurriedly through the masses. You see, thats thinking. We followed him towards Banshee like one follows an ambulance in trafficmy first coaster of the year and what a way to start. Exceptwe had to wait about 2 minutes just to get past the entrance. EVERY SINGLE PERSON already had too much crap on them to be allowed entrance and the arguments began. Just let me pass while you argue people. Please? Thats all I ask. I think one guy was trying to get his suitcase on the coaster. Why? Up the stairs finally to the station. We waited about 4 trains. And that would be the longest wait of the day for Banshee. The attendant told us to hit up the last seats and we were fine with that. So my first ride of Banshee was in the back, and boy was it a doozy. Banshee does not let up from that initial wail over the first hill. Its head over heels non-stop throughout with little else involved. Ground then sky. Ground then sky. I have to admit I like more involved coasters than simple loops. I prefer Raptor to this coaster because the transitions are more apparent and the design is a little less intense but with more elements. If Raptor was a little smoother and had the trains of Banshee it would be perfect. But Banshee is definitely the more intense coaster. Its a great, smooth one at that. A perfect addition to Kings Island. [Let it be known that we love Diamondback over Millennium Forceless however] We hurried through the gift shop past the wall of people who just have to block the aisle to see their selfies. Dont they already have thousands on their phones?? We got back in line for Banshee to get a middle seat on the purple train. darn. This would be the train we would get throughout the day unfortunately. Rattle, rattle. Being almost 40 I felt a little nauseated after these back to backs. But who has time for that nonsense? Onward The Bat looks great and really pops out now. You actually notice it. More importantly, patrons notice it now. We hiked the trail to the station and grabbed a front row spot and waited one train. Love this little coaster. Next, we headed to that secret, experimental area to grab rides on Firehawk and FOF before the crowds got going. We got barked at from the game barkers [as if I look like a basketball player]. No I dont want a LeBron jersey man or a giant smiley ear of corn bro. It wouldnt even fit in my 12 dollar locker. Headed into the Arcade to check out the claw games and to see what arcade machines we would try out later. They had two KI employees at the ticket exchange area behind the glass which I thought was strange [they didnt even have two people at any of the food stands all day that I saw]. We saw a pirate shooting game that looked pretty good and would return later to. We also saw an indie game that involved a doodle jumping up on clouds. Who the hell published that? The GF definitely wanted to play that one later and I scratched my head. Dont get me wrong, I love indie games and original games at that, but I couldnt figure out who would make an arcade machine out of one. Out the door and towards that bathroom-less corner [there are bathrooms in Action Zone within a toilet paper roll throw away from one another]. But we know as much already. Firehawks station was practically emptybut that doesnt keep the KI monitor in the aisle from holding you back from reaching it. The coaster on the course had 6 empty rows and there were maybe 16 people in the station. So of course it made sense for us to wait in the aisle. Hey guess what? You can wait out here longer now because someone is coming out to relieve me. Petty complaintI wasnt really mad or anything just annoyed now thinking about it. 3 minutes later we are in the completely empty station and we get in the front line and on to the coaster immediately. One can actually have a nice view of the Brontosaurus in Dinosaurs Alive on the way up the lift hillas well as the bright sun at 10:45 in the morning. That feels good on the eyes man! Clank. Clank. CLANK! As always, a fun ride although I find myself having to brace myself uncomfortably while in those rather strange restraints. I get a lot of blood to my head on that ride as well. We returned to the brake run facing the sun again and got a nice tan while waiting, waiting, waiting, for that people eater to unload and for us to return homeward. Next we walked through the UFO and waited for about 5 or 6 trains and took a plain ol middle seat. Launch would begin in 5, 4, 3 BOOOM! I always loved that little fake out, especially when they do a real count on the launch before yours and then catch you unawares. We launched out of the tunnel into the cobra roll and what is this...The building is almost entirely black? I counted perhaps three small lights on in the whole place to my dismay. To my dismay, because even knowing the layout, I couldnt brace myself for those deceivingly quick bends. It was impossible to even know which direction you were facing even making you forget just where you were in the course of the layout. I was getting tossed around like a chump and it hurt! It was freakin incredible. I personally loved it. My body afterwardnotsomuch. Feeling slightly nauseas as well as feeling like we just got jumped and robbed, I decided to catch my breath byhaving a cigarette in the center of Coney Mall in the circle of trees. During this little break I looked up and saw a train about to crest the hill on Banshee, except the train wasnt moving. Oh noes! Lets stay clear of that area for minute. Alright stop. What does airbrushing have to do with Octoberfest? I mean...in all honesty? Who buys this crap outside of Southerners and White Trash in Ohio? [not that there is anything wrong with that...uh...I got nothing else here]. Not to slight the Southerners because I love Dollywood and New Orleans, and Atlanta, and Kentucky, and...uh? But I dont even think Dollywood has this crap. And why is it in Octoberfest? I mean, its cool to get your girlfriends name above an eagle and American flag...but isnt this tradition a little outdated by about 20 years? This isnt the local fair man. Alas, I bought an airbrushed shirt that had a middle finger that said: AIRBRUSH SHIRTS SUCK! Worth every penny. The dude working there was very happy to airbrush that one. Though I think he was being escorted to the parking lot when we were leaving...sorry dude. Nice work though. Moving forward, we headed to the ass of the park where our beautiful antique car course use to be to take a dip on Gangsta Car Rider Express. Or, I mean, Mobster Mayhem, or... crap, whatever lame name it has now. 5 car wait. This was the first time I noticed the flowover queue behind the billboard ejection. I wondered who the hell would wait when that queue was necessary. Despite this revelation of queues ...I rather enjoy this ride...but not above my 'tiques. Twas almost Noon at this point... I will finish tomorrow. Not that one should care. It just feels good to type...and Alas, I am leaving early for this incredible weekend. This was work today fellow KIC'ers. Off and on anyway.1 point

I enjoyed Bond and Days of Thunder a lot for how the park promoted them at the park with movie props from each respective movie(s) around the queue. The pre-ride video for Bond was cool seeing they got Judi Dench (M) and Desmond Llewelyn (Q) to play their parts for a bit of authenticity. 7th Portal was just cool to look at, it looked really great on the projector and just the animation style. Smash Factory was just pure fun. Those were the only films I saw there.1 point

Many choose to use one to aggregate content that they're interested in, as many companies and individuals use Twitter to share information. I have 4 Twitter accounts, going back to 2008, and I hardly ever post to any of them. This is in stark contrast to the social networking service of Facebook Inc. They limit their users to one account, which they encourage its owner to share absolutely everything with.1 point

They are also making in-park announcements. Not sure how many people will show but it's worth your time to get there early just in case. I'll be live Tweeting with photos @KICentral.1 point

Since we can't get Scooby back for our dark ride, we could theme it to Garfield. Garfield themed dark rides have a history of being well-loved by park goers of all ages. Oh, wait...1 point

MAJOR UPDATE!!! WMG will be opening TOMORROW! The first ride took place yesterday or this morning based off the picture above. The station also looks very cool! The park has also posted a video of all the characters that are part of the ride. The animations look to be very high quality! Can't wait!!! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=101521954142339241 point
