Being a black man, i hate hearing the "N" word thrown out repetitively by other black folks while in the park. That REALLY bothers me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk7 points

^ The first public rides were given on Opening Day, and the first 5,000 riders received t-shirts. Media Day rides did happen the day before, but many others (employees, vendors, etc) rode even earlier. One of my pet peeves is enthusiasts who feel entitled because of perks, such as Media Day access, that are graciously offered to them.6 points

Yeah Nick, I hear you...I sat next to this guy (18-early 20's) on the Intimidator who was riding with his parents and he spent a good portion of the ride shouting things like "f*** this s***!" I wanted to tell him to shut up but I decided against it. People these days...6 points

Aw that's sad RIP Nikki Nikki by ki_faerie_wench, on Flickr Edit: This one is Nikki, photo I posted earlier was one of the other female Rhinos they have.6 points

Random people (mostly 16/17 year old boys) asking for high fives or randomly hugging you and swearing. Excuse my language but I was riding The Beast on Tuesday and the boy behind me (about 12) saying things like, "Holy mothaf****** sh*t this motherf******* ride is f****** scary y'all holy sh*t man f*** this sh*t god darn man WOOOAHFWUFWUPUIG(P HOLY SH*T. This was the entire ride until the second chain when I decided to tell them to stop. The kid then says, "Yooo man I f***** your mom so hard LOLOLOOLLOLOLLOLOL." I hate people like this. Again sorry for the language.5 points

Due to large crowds when I get there, I have actually gone through the parking tolls and straight out the nearby exit. Regardless of webcams, I'm using common sense about today and tomorrow...no point in my getting anywhere near that mess! Just show up in the evening and watch the fireworks. No waiting in line for that.4 points

It can be annoying when they don't move a bit, but overall it doesn't bug me too much since it won't make me get on the ride any sooner or later by them not keeping up with it. the line isn't going anywhere. I do agree with Nick though about the language and just makes it even more annoying when they make a juvenile sophomoric response like the "...your mom" comments.4 points

Just saw this on Kentucky Kingdom's: King Louie The Lion's Facebook page Maybe intentional?4 points

The Interpreter, I've read through many of the topics posted here over the years, and that seems to be your shtick. Forgive me if I consider it a pet peeve when others try to ruin your originality.4 points

^I would totally second this. My guess would be to move Sling Shot over to X-Base. Paint it black and maybe put chrome on the pod and it would fit in perfectly. This would free up some space for them to reroute the Oktoberfest path around and allow them to put Flying Scooters right next to the pond a la Surfside Gliders. My next thought would be to put in a Disk'O Coaster like the Point did but we already have Surf Dog. From there, I feel like an Alp-themed Himalaya would be nice across from the Festhaus. An entrance arch at the Coney Mall, International Street, and Action Zone entrances would be nice too. Finally, they could make the Festhaus glockenspiel operational again and put some string lights in to bring the area to life at night. Having the biergarten along with a lighting package would probably make that area come to life at night.3 points

And media day attendees, by and large, were not among the first few hundred Banshee riders. So what?3 points

I agree .. I am always with my kids in line and usually say something to the person about being respectful and that I can contact security and you can deal with them, I don't appriciate bad language.3 points

They launched fireworks into thunderstorms last week, though extremely few guests stuck around to see them. High winds would preclude the launch, for obvious reasons. I believe that they have cancelled fireworks early in the day if a rainout looks inevitable. For advice on taking a nap at KI, you should probably ask TTD-120-420. I have never gone to sleep at an amusement park, though I came close once while waiting 30 minutes on the show to start at the Kings Island Theater. Be careful about sleeping at Soak City; you wouldn't want to wake up to a sunburn or stolen belongings.3 points

How incredibly sad. I hope that her species survives and doesn't go the way of the Martha, the Passenger Pigeon. I would hope that the zoo could/would capture Nikki's DNA. BTW, just read an article about Passenger Pigeons and the possible reintroduction of the extinct species! http://longnow.org/revive/what-we-do/passenger-pigeon/3 points

Was she the one who always hid herself behind the cave wall, and would charge out at unsuspecting walkers turning around the bushy corner? I watched her for a LONG time making zoo-goers shriek in terror if so.3 points

With all due respect why does that matter? Whether it lengthens the line 20 minutes or 2 seconds, the point is that the people in front of you are being inconsiderate by not moving when the line moves. I am sure that most of the time, such conduct is unintentional but it is annoying when the people in front of you continuously fail to move when the line moves.3 points

Totally not just you. I hate crowds too. They bother me less as I've gotten older, and after having lived near Los Angeles for several years. It still stresses me out to be surrounded by people without a clear exit, though.2 points

About 25 years ago, a person honked their car horn at a person in the parking lot at a Lexington mall, who immediately keeled over of a heart attack and subsequently died. For a while, there was consideration of potential involuntary manslaughter charges, but I don't think there was ever an indictment. What a thing to get to live with, and wonder if one caused, for the rest of one's life.2 points

If they put restrooms back there before they did in X-Base I'm sure plenty of people on here would have a few comments to make.2 points

Yes....to participate in any of the events on the itinerary the lanyard and event badge must be shown at all times during the specific events. Those badges must be worn by attendees and not shared between friends.2 points
-
You know what grinds my gears, is people who walk in the middle of the road in a parking lot and you are driving behind them, you really just wanna honk your horn, but politely drive slower so you don't run over the people.2 points
-
Seeing mentions of other lanyards and badges for this event - only the lanyard and credential issued by the park at check-in will be accepted for access to the behind the scenes activities.2 points

Weren't there different media day and first rider t-shirts, anyway? They have the same basic design, but I could swear I have seen some people in ones that say media day, and others that say first rider.2 points

We went last night despite large crowds. It went very well actually. 3 hours we did. Banshee The Bat Racer WindSeeker Vortex Diamondback We were on Diamondback for the fireworks and we did this while walking through shops and just relaxing not hurrying to everything.2 points

FOF is no longer a Fast Lane ride. Maybe interest in the ride has started to wear off since the seperate incidents in June. Yes FOF is open today! Enjoy while you can!2 points

Even in the Dark Days, Great America always stood out as one of the cleaner, kinder Six Flags parks. It remained that way when I visited a few years back. A really nice collection of coasters, especially if you're a frequent visitor of Cedar Fair parks. You'll get a nice dose of different manufacturers and models, and a different way of doing things. (Cedar Fair's California's Great America originated as a sister park of Six Flags Great America. They share SOME coasters and elements, but they have diverged in the decades since their separation, each well representing the direction of its respective owners.) If you're visiting for just a day and doing it this month, you may consider a The Flash Pass. I used one. Just be aware that Six Flags infamously inflates wait times to boost The Flash Pass sales, so don't take them at their word necessarily. Don't miss the Whizzer, even if you're tempted to. Raging Bull is stellar, in my opinion. Parking is a whopping $25. Brace yourself. (EDIT: Never mind, profile shows you're 13. Probably you won't be responsible for the parking fee. )2 points

I would suggest setting a timer if you do or you may end up like Ross trying to count his 3 seconds.....2 points

It's good to see that it (might be) back open ahead of the big weekend. When it re-opened the day after the smoking motor issue, it continued to be listed on the sign out front even though it was operating.2 points

It's a very nice plan. I noticed during my trip how Hollywood and Sunset Blvds fit the normal Disney experience, while the rest of the park is like a studio.2 points

I'm a teen as well. I remember when bad language and carelessness wasn't so much of a problem because I never heard it or noticed it. Now, it happens way too much. (in my opinion)2 points

I'm a teen also but I hate when teens are careless, on opening day I was standing in line for Diamondback and a teen just through a water bottle in the landscaping.2 points

Indeed. Those people should do like I do that time of year--stay home. Let the target market be targeted. Don't spoil others' fun. It's not appropriate. And to those parents who bring their little ones and then want everything tamed down to avoid scaring the wee ones...STAY HOME. This is not the time for timid little ones. If it's not appropriate for your kid, don't bring them.2 points

They don't want people not coming because they think it looks too busy. Once you're there, you're more committed.2 points

The web cams were conveniently positioned in a way in which you couldn't judge the crowds anyway...2 points

I would be drooling on my keyboard if they added live view cams. I could watch them for hours.2 points

Think about how much cooler a ride it would be if the area was very nicely landscaped with an antique car ride.1 point

^^ ( to Terp) I do declare... When you left the station and turned to the right you went through a fog/mist bank similar to the mist around the Banshee sign with color lights under the track with a jungle soundtrack. Then you dropped over the hill to the first tunnel. At the entrance to the tunnel there was an active crossing signal with ringing bells and lights flashing...kind of an indication of danger. Then as you went through the tunnel, there was mood lighting and in the rafters there was an anaconda sized hissing snake. Then you left the first tunnel and into the second where arrows popped out of the walls as you went through. Then as you climbed the lift you could hear it creak as if it were falling apart. Then you drop down the hill through the course and through the ivy covered structure with mood lighting and into the next tunnel. Inside here you went into the volcano with red lights and fog. You could hear a loud wind or howling through to the last tunnel. At the end, it remains virtually the same with the statues drumming and the main statue, however it dumped a trickle of water onto the train as you passed under. It was a wonderful night experience! All in all it was a MUCH better experience before there became a lapse in upkeep.....here's hoping that Matt updates this ride soon to it's former glory and then some!!!1 point

And what, pray tell, is wrong with a Southern accent? Sheesh.1 point

I would scrap the whole "Los Angeles Freeway" theme with something more "local..." "Cincinnati Skyliner" More trees... fewer "cargo containers;" More grass... less concrete... Lighted "skyline" facade... Straight circuit... no pause... Etc...1 point

The same way Diamondback looks this year.... 5 years old and looks 25.1 point

There is a cobra in one of the tunnels that used to sway back and forth. The spears used to pop out as the train went by. On the final lift hill, at the end, it used to have a light in the chalice he is dumping, to make it look like it was molten lava or metal. There was also a burst of hot air (later replaced with cold air) as you went below it. You can basically tell how the rest of the drum thumpers are supposed to work/ be lit, even though they are at times not working properly or have bulbs out. Those are the parts I remember.1 point

I personally am not a fan of this ride unless there is the theming there. It packs a small punch without the theming, and I would not be inclined to wait a long time to ride it without something worth while happening. And question: What did Adventure Express have in regards to theming back in the day? I am only 18... so as long as I remember it was the same as it has been.1 point
