Let's not jump to conclusions about service life. If the upkeep is kept up I can't see why these coasters can't operate longer than 25 years. This is very sad indeed.4 points

Remember how Busch Gardens Williamsburg removed Big Bad Wolf, citing a 25 year shelf life for Arrow Suspended Coasters? Ninja is 26. Not saying there's any truth to that, it's just odd. This is not good at all. Other than Ninja, there are three Arrow Suspended Coasters left operating with their original suspended trains. All three are at Cedar Fair parks. *gulp* Either way, this is horrible. Obviously hoping those seriously injured are alright...4 points

Sure can! Both train stations have convenient upgrade kiosks disguised as regular ole train station ticket kiosks. From what folks are saying about Hogwarts Express, it would be worth it. And it's an entirely different attraction in each direction...4 points

Yeah, and walking that trail reminds you of the drastic changes in elevation... I have slightly grown bored of the trail (Have been almost every Sunday since the park opened) but my son absolutely loves it. Looks like, Sundays are Dino Days for us....4 points

Also recognize that the first week of August is most students' last week off for summer, and that Diagon Alley will be less than a month old at the time. Universal has hit it out of the park with Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, and wait times will reflect that. When Hogsmeade opened, folks were waiting for 90 minutes or more to get into shops and restaurants. With that pressure distributed between two Wizarding World lands, it shouldn't be quite as bad, but recognize that if your time is short, you may have to buy a wand from a cart instead of waiting an hour or more to get into Ollivander's. It depends on your priorities. If you're going just for the Wizarding World lands, you can do it all in two days. To me, that would do a disservice to two of the greatest theme parks in the world, though. Don't make the mistake of trying to meticulously plan which park you'll visit first and where you'll run to and what order you'll do rides in. Just like Kings Island, things rarely work out that smoothly. Go with the flow, try not to stress, and get lost in the moments. Universal has a really cool dichotomy: you'll be dropped off directly in the center of the kidney-bean shaped CityWalk. Two identical bridges branch off from each end of the kidney bean: one toward the Pharos Lighthouse, and one toward the Universal Studio Gates. You can plan until the cows come home, but when you first land there and see those two park icons, you'll just end up going with the flow anyway and following whichever path feels right to you.4 points

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's something that will be open all season and not just for Haunt. We don't need another permanent structure that sits there closed for 90% of the operating season. It might make sense to us because most of us go all season long, but for people vacationing, it just looks like one more attraction that's not operational. How does that look for our park? I don't know, I'm just sort of against building permanent structures that are visible and that take up useful space, but then only having them open for one month. I might be wrong, but it's just how I feel.4 points

Ride ops on Diamondback who put singles in odd rows and couples in even. Because why wouldn't strangers want to sit right next to each other and couples four feet away?4 points
-
Here's one that I just experienced earlier today: some guy had one of those strap-on camera mounts on his chest and was attempting to hook it up just before we hit the lift hill on The Beast. The ride ops spotted it and stopped our train on the lift hill for approximately 10 minutes. They explained over the speakers for him to put it away, but the guy wouldn't and a ride op had to climb up to us to confiscate it. The other riders gave him plenty of grief about it.4 points

Just hope we don't end up seeing something like this. (Photo from Theme Park Review) If that happened, then HUSS fault would it be?4 points

I get text message notifications whenever Kings Island PR posts a tweet for the purpose of "Tweet-Ups" and I had a lump go in my throat when I saw a tweet come across saying "A popular attraction is leaving the park a week from today". I clicked on the link and it was talking about the freaking noodle. I thought it was going to be SRR, thankfully it wasn't because I would of been very mad.4 points

Wow, so sorry to hear about that. Thoughts are with you and Julie's family during this. Keep your memories close!4 points

As shocking as that pic is, look at the positive: the people appear to no have suffered a major injury & the train looks to have not fallen to the ground.3 points

I also recall the park stating a while back that Banshee had given 500,000+ rides and was the most ridden ride in the park so far this year (which it should be as it is the big new ride). And this was like a month or so ago. So, under 30 minute waits are a sign of the ride's high capacity and not really lack of popularity... This news pleases me because if it's true, then Banshee joins the list of "Crowded Day Bail-Out" coasters along with Vortex, Bat, Adventure Express, and Racer- thus you have 5 fun, thrilling rides you can get in on a single day at Kings Island even when crowds are at their worst. Though you're still going to have to make some cuts with rides like Diamondback, Beast, Flight of Fear, Firehawk, BLSC, and Invertigo which are either low capacity or super popular or sometimes even both as they will eat 1 hour plus easy on crowded days...and FOF & Firehawk often get near or over 2+ hours...3 points

I wore my Outer Limits Flight of Fear shirt today in honor of it being the first time in a month it's been up when I have been at the park. The ride ops really loved it, I wasn't expecting them to notice so much.3 points

You are going to LOVE Universal Orlando. LOVE it. It's fantastic. When I visit Orlando, Universal is my primary destination every time, above Walt Disney World. The two parks are snuggled right up to each other and VERY easy to walk between. For that reason alone, get a Park-to-Park ticket. It'll let you bounce between the resort's highlights, especially at the end of the second day. You'll be kicking yourself if you go to Islands of Adventure on Tuesday, then Universal Studios on Wednesday and realize you can't run back and re-ride Spider-Man that night. Also remember: Diagon Alley has two major attractions: Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, and the Hogwarts Express. The Hogwarts Express is a fully-immersive dark ride (so it is NOT a simple train like Kings Island's or the Walt Disney World Railroad) that travels BETWEEN Diagon Alley (at Universal Studios) and Hogsmeade (at Islands of Adventure). You cannot ride the Hogwarts Express attraction unless you have a Park-to-Park ticket. You board in Kings Cross Station at Diagon Alley and get off in Hogsmeade at the other park (or vice versa) so without a Park-to-Park ticket, you will miss that E-ticket, headlining, major ride. There's nothing I'd tell you to skip, but with time being short, focus on the obvious headlining rides (Forbidden Journey, Gringotts, Revenge of the Mummy, Spider-Man, Transformers, Jurassic Park, Hulk, Dragon Challenge, Men In Black) but be sure not to miss Poseidon's Fury, E.T., and the Horror Make-Up Show. You'll find that Universal's two parks contain as many headlining attractions as Disney World's four, and doing it in 2 days won't be easy! If you're staying on-property at one of the resort's three deluxe hotels, your room key counts as FREE, UNLIMITED front-of-the-line passes (not good on Gringotts or Forbidden Journey, last I checked). You can also purchase once-per-ride Express Pass Plus online or at the park, with prices fluctuating based on expected crowd levels. It can be pricy based on the time of year, but it will definitely relieve pressure from your vacation and allow you to relax a bit.3 points

Spiderman is a fantastic ride that you can't miss. A hidden gem is the Twister experience. Lots of fun! Incredible Hulk is tons of fun too.3 points

The weather is cooperating so far! Already been on Delirium, Banshee, FoF, Firehawk, BLSC, Beast, DB, WWC, and taken a 30 minute lunch break.3 points

Delirium is a Huss ride... Remember how long it took to get a part for that a few years ago. SR&R isn't exactly a new ride, we'll see how long it takes to stroll down to the local Budapest Sears for a replacement part.3 points

Oh, yes, those are footers. Kings Island's building a roller coaster in a tiny field right next to The Beast. World's shortest inverted coaster.3 points

That's why it was only 10 minutes. What is usually maybe a 30 to 45 minute wait, is a 10 to 15 minute wait on Banshee, that's the beauty of the ride!3 points

I don't know where to post this because I just have to get it off my chest. Due to the request of others I cannot say anything on Facebook. So, this seemed like a more logical place. My friend Julie lost her battle to cancer yesterday. While I am going to miss her, I am so happy she's no longer in pain. Her daughter contacted me Sunday and told me I needed to come see her because she had gotten worse. So Princess Sparkles and I went to visit her and I am so happy I was able to tell her I loved her one more time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

I went to Kings Island for the first time Monday, and had a great time! Banshee was awesome! Is it weird that the line was only about 10 minutes for a new ride? The line also moved quick.2 points

Sooo, now that you own two theme parks, do all KIC members get in free?! Update: sorry I missed your post about your friend. My thought and prayers go out to you and your family and your friends family.2 points

We have been marathoning Banshee all day. She's currently nearly a walk-on...line begins midway up the stairs. I've ridden her 15 times today. Longest line for us has been Diamondback with about a 25 minute wait.2 points

In DC, most museums are free and I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to see the Air and Space Museum, which is terrific. They have one of the retired shuttles on display, though I believe it's an upcharge. Terpy lives out that way so he could say for certain. If you want to go to a pay museum, the spy museum downtown is a lot of fun and packs a good punch for the money. A side trip to Monticello or Mt. Vernon is worth it as well, since the grounds are gorgeous as are the homes.2 points

We lived across the street from the Mcann's , they were obviously devastated by the loss of their son, we lived in centerville oh at the time and the Mccanns moved to morrow where his dad Jim either was or became a winemaster at Valley Vineyards. I'm not sure why I posted this, but I found a leather pouch at a yard sale over the weekend that was a Kings Island Souvenir and it got me thinking about that whole situation. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-LEATHER-POUCH-PURSE-KINGS-ISLAND-EIFFEL-TOWER-ROLLER-COASTER-RARE-/231277416789?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35d93551552 points

Getting off Racer, I was walking behind a guy as he told his son "we'll ride Vortex next. It's a lot smoother than this one because it's steel and steel coasters are always smoother." Edit: just now, coming down the elevator on ET, the ride op asked if anyone had any questions and a lady, while facing out the window towards Vortex, responded "when did they take out Vortex?" The look on the ride op's face was priceless. "They didn't, and you're looking right at it" she responded. I thought the lady might have been having one of those "moments" that I sometimes have and meant to say something else but accidently said "'Vortex" because she happened to be staring at Vortex, but this was not the case.2 points

Not a crowded day at all. We've ridden Banshee x2, Diamondback x2, The Beast, Firehawk and eating lunch in Festhaus now. The Boyz are Back....ack.2 points

My 6 year old and I were standing in a rather long line for Drop Tower on Thursday evening and there was a guy in line right behind us who was trying really really hard to look like a hippie in the midst of his seemingly normal looking friends. That's all fine and good... look however you want, but you do not have to take a bath in patchouli to get your point across! It was slightly tolerable when I was up wind of him and tried not to breath too deeply but when the line turned so that I was downwind when the big whoosh of air came, it was like instant migraine every time... I felt like my face was going to fall off as my sinus's instantly clogged up. Even my daughter whispered to me asking why that weird man smelled so bad and could I please sit next to him on the ride so she wouldn't have to smell him. Too much perfume is way worse than BO in my book! People should have some consideration, especially knowing how close they are going to be to other people in the lines.2 points

Maybe someone pulled on a tree one too many times while riding the ride, I mean they do warn when riding that ride about 50 times to not pull on the trees, maybe there was more reasons than just wanting to not damage the trees.2 points

I was only there for a few hours but had a great time! I was with my dad and my two friends from my neighborhood, both are 11. who had never been to the park before. We started with Diamondback and the line was at the bottom of the stairs and they loved their first roller coaster. Next we went to The Beast for an EXTREMELY PAINFUL RIDE. There was no line but we were still being assigned seats and we had to sit in the back. We went to BLSC which was both of their favorite. Matthew and my dad went to ride WindSeeker while me and Will went through Dinosaurs Alive. We were going to ride FoF but it was a 90 minute wait. The Racer was a 10 minute wait and we rode in the back on Blue. Adventure Express was fun in the front. Will didn't want to ride Banshee but Matthew did so he just crossed over when we got there. Matthew LOVED the back. It's so fast and it's my favorite. We went out to the car for lunch and then rode Congo Falls. Will and my dad saw Cirque Imagine while me and Matthew rode Drop Tower and Banshee 2 more times. After that we all met up and went to The Bat which Will was scared to ride. We rode Ride For Your Life Charlie Brown which I hadn't ridden in 6 years. I was sitting in the front by myself and on the first little hill I slipped to my left and fell out of my seat and into the side of the Log Flume. I got back up and had a death grip on the bar the rest of the ride. We next went to WWC and got drenched. We dried off at The Beast and waited about 40 minutes. We left after that because it started getting more crowded. It was a FUN day.2 points

It's not uncommon at all for the park to be crowded and Banshee to be a 10-20 minute wait. The crews do a great job getting the trains dispatched!2 points
