  2. It would be very odd indeed if Kings Island's Scooters were in Dorney Park's parking lot like Dorney's. Then again, down Carowinds way... Hi, Tim, wherever you are...

  3. So what's the point of this being a water slide again? To me, loops are only beneficiary when you can actually tell if you're upside down. Here, you're in this confined, claustraphobic rig going through an enclosed tube. It might as well be a roller coaster. Also, where does the water go? Does it just collect on the bottom of the loop? The upper half of the loop won't have water either. Overall, this just comes off as silly to me.

  4. Was this store called the Emporium? The Emporium is a store on International Street near the front of the park.

  6. Well, here we go. Let the speculation begin. New trains? Improved theming? Removal? A ...diversion? Pass the Snickers.

  7. "How quickly they forget." Some pearls of wisdom here. And some utter rubbish. But which is which? And why...now?

  8. Yea it's not really a full update for the ride. The ride itself will be mostly unchanged. Just some new stuff in the queue and a new video at the end. Otherwise it's the same. Still nice to see some refresh and glad to see it's not going anywhere but like to see it get updated sometime

  9. Two new family rides, the largest Starbucks store in the Tri-State, and other improvements are all part of Kings Island’s plan for next summer. The first of the new rides is Woodstock Gliders, a classic flying scooters ride from Larson International. The ride features eight two-person planes that glide 28 feet above the ground. As the planes begin to rotate, they will fan out over a large area. Each plane has a stationary rear wing and a moveable front wing which allows the guest to control the flight and alter their ride experience from mild to wild. Woodstock Gliders is similar to the Flying Eagles, a popular former Kings Island ride that entertained more than 12 million guests during its 32 years of operation from 1972 to 2004. The second new ride is Snoopy’s Space Buggies from Zamperla, an attraction designed for children of all ages to enjoy with their parents or grandparents. Six four-seat vehicles will bounce up and down while rotating in a circle. The new rides will be located next to each other in the 14-time, award-winning Planet Snoopy kids’ area of the park. Starbucks will be relocated from its current location at the end of International Street to the opposite side near the front gate and expanded to 3,650 square feet, making it one of the largest Starbucks stores in the Midwest. The seating capacity of 219 will include a spacious outdoor patio that will offer a great view of the 600,000-gallon Royal Fountain and Eiffel Tower. The International Street Fudge and Candy Shop will be renamed Sweet Spot and undergo an extensive interior and exterior redesign with new product offerings and the opportunity for guests to experience watching fudge and candy being made through large glass windows. A new yogurt store, Yogurt Plus, will be located on International Street in the current Starbucks location, offering 18 different flavors and an endless combination of toppings including fresh cut fruits, candy, cereal, nuts, granola, and syrups. Other International Street renovations include the Funnel Cake stand, which will allow guests to see the toppings that are available to top their fresh-fried funnel cake. Toppings will include warm blueberry and apple toppings, fresh strawberry glaze topping, and hand-scooped ice cream. Other changes coming to the park, as well, as part of the 2015 plan include an expanded Coca-Cola Marketplace with a deeper selection of healthy food options, Coca-Cola Freestyle Café, and upgrades to the Picnic Grove area with a new entrance, improved landscaping around each of the pavilions and remodeled restroom facilities.

  11. Should be so blessed to have these additions: To a great Park already and a Park that beats out in the Universe the best Kids Park, that in many ways is beyond awesome.

  12. I haven't heard any news about Kings Islands Woodstock Gliders in yet. Dorney Park recieved what looks like most of their Scooters in a few days ago, but they haven't even begun to clear anything to where it's going to go. I'll keep my eyes and ears open for when our Flying Scooters makes it's landing! Can't wait to see them even if they was in the parking lot like Dorney's is.

  13. Don`t know anymore, but 2 seasons ago, I asked if they had them in the old Action Zone Gift Shop, and they said that there were in the store near the gates. Forgot the name of the store.

  14. My big question about this coaster, is how in the world are they going to check the track every day? The structure doesn't look accommodating for safety rigging.

  15. Am I reading it correctly that really the only changes are to the films in the preshow and end of the ride?

  18. Well! I guess we will all have to watch Fresh Horses just to see our resident movie star! Homebodies is corny but fun to watch and you are right about the dadisms (gotta like that word!)

  20. PETA's protest this year about the Macy's float involves getting naked, painting themselves black and white, and piling into a bathtub in front of Macy's. Is taking off their clothes all these people know to do? How are they going to keep warm until they get to Macy's, wear the furs of all the shelter animals they've killed with their "no kill shale tear policy? They brain is divided in two for a reason, so we can have both empathy AND reason. These PETA persons rely solely on their emotional outrage.

  21. I'd like to go back to the day and what the conversation was like that we decided to go there. I remember it being jam packed from floor to ceiling with Christmas stuff, than you would enter a whole new room of more Christmas stuff, than another room. I think the joke we made is it was just like grandmas house if grandma was a very organised hoarder who liked to display her stuff.

  22. Use the site's search feature. Lots and lots has been said about Winterfest. Every off-season the topic is brought up, and it's already been the subject of much discussion this year. There are countless reasons it came back for its most recent reboot, and countless more that it probably won't be seen for a very long time. Browse a bit!

  23. Six Flags just took out a moderate reviewed coaster (from what I have heard of it, I have never stepped foot into a SIX park, yet), so I have no doubt that we may be looking at some thing to do with a RMC "woodie"*. As for the rest, hey heck I don't know, Six Flags looks like they could pack in a great year for their parks, and I do hope that they could really bring a hit with this Justice League idea. *"Woodie" as in hey look ma, no wood!

  24. It would be nice of Top Gun opened the themed area again, and had the steam when it took off, but that costs money, and Paramount isn't willing to spend the money on it. They also would have to have another staff member to open the themed area, because you can't trust the kids down there.

  25. Better pray harder. The styrofoam is quickly falling apart, even in places guests would never be able to destroy.

  26. How about this color scheme: Pink Track, Neon Green Track Bars, and all the Trains alternate colors like a rainbow!! would that be good? STeve

  27. Yeah, Paramount's not too keen on keeping up their theming. I pray for Tomb Raider, may Lara Croft always have styrofoam walls and bubbling lava.

  28. Not really. Shaggy told the tale awhile back. The GM at the time ordered the ride to be painted for 1999 and the "new" Action Zone. At the time PP&E was incharge of that stuff. The decided on grey and not the nice silver like the other Top Guns. The manager came down one day and said "nice primer when is the new color going on" The painters looked at him and said "that is the color" Its been almost a year so if I am off sue me.

  29. Nah Drew. He's right and your wrong...Top Gun was indeed going to be called "Swoops: The Ride"...Or something along those lines.

  30. Yes, I agree that Top Gun`s track looked much better with red than with its current silver. The current silver is too similar to the gray color of the supports.

  31. Bravo. Now if only they could get the paint scheme right, and not that stupid primer silver color, the red was much better!

  32. Da Ripper, you can not have ridden The Racer in 1969 at Coney Island. The reason is that The Racer was built for Kings Island in 1972. Now, there was a white painted wooden coaster at Coney Island in 1969, The Shooting Star. The Shooting Star is a much talked about ride, especially for its tunneled finale, in ways a similar precurser to the ending of The Beast. Afterall, The Beast design started out as a copy of the Shooting Star. There is a similar copy of the Shooting Star (although it is a mirror image) up at Paramount Canda`s Wonderland.

  33. Yep, I second TowerGuy. Top Gun`s cars have remained the same since the ride opened in 1993 (obviosly with new parts and a couple new shells after last years incident). The cars on Top Gun are the standard Arrow suspended cars. Now one park in Enlgiand i believe did remove their Arrow suspended cars for Vekoma designed floorless swinging cars, similar to the trains on inverted coasters, except that they can sawy side to side. I don`t believe we will be seeing these types of trains on Top Gun.
