  1. Just came across this video! I wouldn't mind something like this to come:

  2. I wouldn't mind new PTC's with buzzbars, no headrests, & only a divider that goes up to the top of your hip, that tall divider is the most uncomfortable issue with the current trains imo.

  3. Here's a better idea I came up with after watching a pov of velocicoaster:

  4. This does not make a whole lot of sense. Because of the horrible CP park management in 2020 Fast Lane plus was the only way to truly enjoy it. I still managed to average 12 rides a day in with the Fast Lane plus on days when the park was packed. Sure that still is not good but it is better than waiting 4 hours for one ride and maybe getting 2 in. You should ideally have 14 hours for your Fast Lane not 8 and one hour early entry instead of 0. So your Fast Lane ideally would be getting you 3 rides an hour and 30 rides a day or more.

  5. Testing has begun again. I have not seen closeup pictures of the lift yet so no clue how much work was done. But I have seen videos of the trains cycling. Still wondering exactly how this accident occurred. I believe the train had to be traveling backwards for the front wheel assembly of the third car to end up under the car in front of it. But I have since seen high resolution photos of the lift with the train stuck on it and the chain is clearly intact. So I am still a little confused on what initially broke.

  6. The bond was quite strong between the park and enthusiasts. We have been so blessed to have great park leadership throughout the years, even going back to the late great Ruth Voss. She, in a way, kinda started the trend of ERT. I will say that Jeff is very similar to our own Mr. Don Helbig in the way that he is an enthusiast at heart and wants to do awesome things for enthusiasts. Tours, events, etc. CoasterStock was completely Don’s idea and he puts a lot of work into every year organizing it, something that I think most of us can glance over. Jeff is very active as well as he loves his fellow ACE members and puts on events for all organizations. In a matter of fact, SFFT just announced that they are doing a private THREE day event just for enthusiasts, Roller Coaster Rodeo!, something to which I’m not sure has ever been done before on a level such as this. I’m sure that that was completely Siebert’s idea. Sometimes it may seem like enthusiasts got to do a lot more things like construction tours and such under Paramount/Jeff, but a lot have things have changed over the years such as safety concerns, and not to mention certain enthusiasts can ruin the fun for all by breaking those rules. Yes, Kings Island may not “cater” to enthusiasts (as no park really should if we’re being honest, because we make up such a small number), but we are blessed that they do recognize us and want to do awesome things for us. If I am able to “move up in the ranks” someday, whether at Kings Island, Cedar Fair, Six Flags, Busch, wherever... I hope to help strengthen the bond/relationship between enthusiasts and parks.

  7. Ik this probably has been shared before, but I really like this concept:

  8. Maybe an old car theme would work, but something like Monster Jam really wouldn’t fit at all in my opinion. I love theming, but I could see a new Coney Mall coaster not really having much of a theme because I don’t really know what theme would fit really well into that area of the park. I think was is most important is that a new rollercoaster in Vortex’s plot is well presented and visually appealing like Vortex was.

  9. Tbh I think a car theme would work very well at that end of Coney Mall if they do make it part of Coney Mall. With the antique cars and the jukebox diner there, a 1950s/60's hot rod theme (like my shot rod concept above) would fit very well. Better than Monster Jam would.

  10. For theming I just had this thought in mind: Cedar Fair has been partnering with Monster Jam recently and holding Monster Jam themed events in a couple parks. I've heard rumors that CF could eventually theme a coaster to Monster Jam. I think a multi launch whether it be Mack or Intamin would be the best fit coaster for a monster jam/monster truck theme. I know it sounds like a longshot, but I honestly would not be surprised if we get a multi launch coaster there that it would have a Monster Jam/Monster Truck theme. I was thinking the name Monster Jam: Thundercoaster or something along those lines.

  11. the story goes that some guys made an amusement park in the 70s and it kinda snowballed from there Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

  13. It's funny that back when I worked there, I was very critical of some of the details on the engines, particularly the windows in #12's cab and the skinny diamond stack on #19. In recent years, I have found that early Chicago and Northwestern engines used that stack, and the "cathedral" windows on #12 were the signature window shape of Dawson and Bailey (National Locomotive Works) of Connellsville, PA. But I have yet to find any prototype engines with dome covers the shape of the "stock" Crown dome.

  17. The stars on the wheels were Dick Carmell's idea. We were sitting on five gallon buckets repainting the wheels one night (the injectors used to dump on them and change the color of the Rustoleum paint), and he suggested the stars. I took it one step farther, and although I'm not particularly fond of them today, I painted the cranks black. I'm sure Dick was thinking of his California days since Disney's engines had stars on the wheels. As to the straight stack, I think that was just a reaction to the very poorly done balloon. If they would have put the same balloon on that Crown did with many other engines, it would probably still be there. But, hey, check the sand dome on #19 and compare it to #119.

  19. And finally, the infamous Kenny Van Meter standing in the cab of "his" engine, the "Tecumseh". Again the wood is horizontal but the whistle was moved from behind the bell (where it showered everyone in boiling water, turned the blue paint into orange stripes, and screeched and gurgled whistle signals). I'm guessing it was taken in May 1972. Hey, what happened to Mystic Timbers and the White Water Canyon? It sure was nice and quiet in the enginehouse back then.

  20. This one was taken very early in 1972 since the wood on the tender is still horizontal, though we had moved the whistle to the rear dome in May. This shows Lew Brown in overalls (left) and his sidekick Dick Carmell on "Lew's" engine, the "Simon Kenton". They were adding aluminum strips to the roof so rain didn't waterfall over the edge and down your neck if you stuck your head out to see where you were going. I wonder how OSHA would feel about their techniques today?

  21. I found a few slides from 1972 and had them scanned. Quality is pretty bad (anyone remember Instamatic cameras?), but hey, it's history. Here is the ORIGINAL Fort Mc Hale on the loop where the waterpark now stands. It looks pretty new and I don't see the exploding Gatling Gun, so this was probably around June 1972. I took it from the top of the mountain that we circled before the 1989 track relocation.

  22. The lift hill is not "leaning" or even anywhere near critical damage. One of the brackets holding the stairs is bent, and at worst, one piece of track needs repair.

  23. For the little people CP was a disaster in 2020. For us and a lot of people will leave a bad taste in their mouth for a long time. I am saying that if it was not for the horrendous management we would happily purchase ASFLP but we are choosing to not do any spending at CF parks this year.

  24. The only cf park we have planned this year is stopping at carowinds on the way to florida. If it wasn't for the horrendous park management at CP last year we would shell out over $2500 for a family of three for the ASFLP. More of great parks to see until CF gets their act together. I will say that KI did well last year as out home park but we would rather spend our time exploring new rides.
