  1. I would hold off on $$$ for large-scale retheming for a bit. The merger created a massive company that may not be sustainable in it's current form and properties may be shed in the inevitable reorganization. Anyone recognize AOL, Time-Warner, Turner Broadcasting- I may have placed an age on myself? The late 1990s merger created the largest media giant in history only to unravel by 2002. Widely regarded as one of the worst mergers in corporate history. Book "Fools Rush In" details it pretty well.

  3. I think it's fair to say that asking any of these places what their plans are with attractions are going to be met with a lot of fluff or auto-generated responses. The luke-warm vagueness is all the rage.

  4. When I oversaw the Call Center from 2008-2012, I made sure everything was a personal response from the associates. I wanted the communication to be genuine and authentic. I thought that was important.

  5. I will also be attending HoliWood Nights. I attended the event last year and had such a good time that I decided to make it an annual tradition.

  6. True story lol. The locals that would, work at the park mostly lol. Most mountain coasters are open year-round just with adjusted hours during the off season.

  8. I did some research, and found that Cheetah Chase at Holiday World's Splashin Safari goes 20 mph fast and Kings Island says that River Racers will go 30 mph. Usually the speed is actually less than advertised at first because of weight distribution and all that. In regards to height of drop, I found that Wildebeest at Splashin Safari has a drop of 38 ft, while Kings Island says River Racers will have a 33 ft drop. In height, Wildebeest is 64 ft while River Racers is 48 ft. I couldn't find if any of Krakatau's stats at Volcano Bay, but it might break some records. In regards to how steep the drop is, I think River Racers is steepest. However you put it, you can always say it breaks records: "Tallest, Fastest, Steepest, Longest, Water Coaster in Ohio" (which is the only one is Ohio) It doesn't really matter what records it breaks, as long as the slide is fun. Can't wait to get on it this summer!!!

  10. For what it is worth, the Chattanooga area has already got a piece of Coney Island history. The Lake Winnepesaukah amusement park in nearby Rossville GA, has one of the original Coney Island and Lake Como railroad trains. Engine #35.

  11. Yeah, I was very sad to see the train was not on the track. Maybe it was not certified yet for the new year.

  13. It would bother me the way they're doing some things now, like removing rides without notice so guests can get in their last rides and say goodbye.
