Looking at the electrical receptables schedule: - 7 Bat Sconces (in queue I assume) - Stained Glass illuminated arch sounds cool - Box office! - 3 Larry's (one in queue, 2 in ride?) - Larry confirmed to be on the turntable which is named "Last Minute Dash" - All original characters named I was hoping the turntable thing would be removed and the massive staged brought back. I hope what they've done with Larry is done well. Exciting stuff!! Thanks so much CoasterJack for making this known!3 points

Interesting that it apparently uses cameras to detect the flashlights.2 points

*SPOILERS* (Please avoid viewing this pdf if you don't want to see each scene listed by name over the layout of the ride, animatronic layouts, other schematics, etc.) Mason redid their whole portal system using OpenGov Citizen Services, which you can access by creating a personal or citizen account. I already have one from past uses. It's much easier to access their monthly reports which are posted and can be access without an account. I assume these will be listed on the December monthly report which should be available soon once we hit January. SPOILER: It appears there's many different versions of the plans, in which the most recent version was approved after they omitted some HVAC renovations due to budget constraints. It's not like we know the entire ride itself from these documents, but it does list each scene by name and show a general layout of some figures representing what I assume are the animatronics. By looking at the wiring diagrams and equipment lists, you can generally tell where the screens will be located, as well as a few other certain elements. If mods want to combine this with another thread or keep it separate, that's find by me. I don't think I'm breaking any rules as I think others have posted documents from the city of Mason, but I understand if this isn't allowed. Project_Barnum_APPROVED_DWGS.pdf1 point

This shows how much space the enchanted theater wastes that could be used for something else.1 point

My Guess is Kings Island recreating the Maestro pre show animatronic for the balcony and Larry in the receptionist or ticket desk. Because of it, the queue line indoors is shorten to make room for that desk. And it also looks like the Windows will get a upgrade to include new special effects. (Edit: I made the queue line system for opening week to show what I've think it will be like.)1 point

If anyone starts getting recognition on a larger scale, I'd love to see it be the people who work and perform in Kings Island's Live Entertainment department. I've seen some videos from the Taft/KECO era where they listed out the names of the performers, choreographers, and directors and thought it was a pretty nice practice. The park could put signage up near each stage/venue entrance listing out those involved in the show to avoid making someone list out who all is performing that day (anything but a stupid QR code). I really like how the singers and dancers get to say their name at the end of each show, but that really only happens in the Festhaus during the regular season and Winterfest. The AllWheelSports folks don't get any name recognition, nor do the band members who perform in Swingin' Into Christmas. Live Entertainment will be a good aspect for Six Flags to improve upon if they want to attract more families to their parks.1 point

Thank you for sharing this! Some thoughts before I go in and look: I'm curious as to why they went with the Project Barnum name and if it had anything to do with the Peanuts carnival ride misdirect (if you'd like to think of it that way). It's a bit of a stretch to get from PT:ON to the potential Peanuts dark ride from the survey and then also jump to the circus name, but it's something. One thing I'll definitely be on the lookout for will be how the new scenes appear to be handled and if there will be some screens with everyone's scores on them. Otherwise I'm happy we can at least see something technical from this project. I'm not too worried about seeing the scene names or plans yet. For me the real reveal will come when I actually get to see how everything looks in real life. Now to go look — I'll put my thoughts in a spoiler below. Overall, this looks really nice! I could already see where some of the props/sets that have already been shown off will go. It's really cool to see stuff like that and assemble it in my mind like a puzzle. The demolition plans alone will help to show that this is not just another reskin of Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle / Boo Blasters on Boo Hill.1 point

The city building permit portal has become increasingly harder to navigate in recent years. Most of the links I've found either lead to a blank page or to the application portals (the Accela site is particularly egregious). Now, something could be bugging out on my end, but I think it might just be that hard to get anywhere with the City of Mason. The Warren County pages also seem to have gotten cleared out in terms of seeing anything fun. I'm trying to leave some things until opening day, but my architecture brain really wants to see these floor plans. I'd love to either see this or read a little more information as to which link got you closer to finding the documents.1 point

I've made a Planet Coaster ride of what I think Vortex could look like if it was a 15 inversion monster. Stats: 187 ft. 76 mph. 15 Inversions 5451 ft in length. 4.1 G.s The coaster also features a dual sided locker system like on Siren's Curse. But the lockers are found at the top floor. Two Disability elevators for each side. Genesis is a fictional company and the antagonist of the ride.1 point

Maybe they could render it orange and blue so we could see what a Vortex homage would look like.1 point

ML Designs created a concept of a Vekoma Ghostrider with an extended layout in The Vortex plot and it actually fits pretty well!1 point

Would you rather not have another coster and two flat rides in our lineup just because they were not ready by opening day? I understand that was the norm for so many years for our park. The industry has changed. There used to be 5 year plans. I understand it that these small additions are decided 12 or so months before the next season. Not years in advance to get them ready by opening day. We can learn to live with smaller additions opening around Memorial Day or not get any additions. Riding Sol Spin and Soap Box Racers today, I did not care (or see others) that were upset they were not open by their respective season's opening day.1 point

Yeah, Chef and I have been strong supporters of Phantom Theater's comeback for a long time now. It has been a nice treat to see the characters/cars at the previous Halloween fests. I think this year will probably actually be the year that I turn my audio from the ride into a downloadable MP3s and make it available. I still have my recordings, I just need to sit down and try to get everything organized. I'm an A/V person now so I don't think it'll be too terribly difficult. I'll keep everyone up to date on that progress.1 point

I really do miss Phantom Theater and wish it would make a come-back. I'm thinking to write a fiction story based on it after life calms down. O'm only a temp and hoping to go full-time. Best regards, Italian Chef1 point

That one works. Unfortunately it confirms they're keeping the "castle bridge" for the entrance instead of reverting to the descending pathway and entering the building at queue level like the original.0 points
