Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
King Ding Dong replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
Apparently FunSpot in Orlando opened yesterday and one report said they were running every other row on the coasters. After one cycle they would use the other rows and then wipe the train down after that cycle. As you can imagine it is a big hit to capacity but better than needling to sanitize after every cycle. -

I remember some reports of questionable safety and maintenances practices with Allegiant a couple of years back but haven’t seen anything recent about them. Doesn’t matter what field you are looking at there are always going to be Doctors Lawyers and Engineers etc. that graduated at the bottom of their class. One Airline has to have the “worst” safety record. Doesn’t mean they are unqualified. -

Keep in mind you don’t see PR Departments complaining about the click-bait headlines. Having your business out there in the public consciousness is a good thing. -

The Drive-thru New Years Eve Party is going to be lit. Now I could really go for a KI Winterfest Mario Kart map. Drifting around ET, a shortcut jumping over DB's Splashdown, weaving back and forth on Coney Mall, a little detour through WWC or RFYLCB. Nintendo needs to make this happen. -
Could they leave the water dummies in the middle seats? That sounds kind of Mobish So does your username in this context.

So like I said drive their big Urban Defense Vehicles through the park that is designed for pedestrians. Think anyone may plow into a building or something while focused on all the pretty lights? It is one thing in wide open spaces and another on the narrow windy paths. But maybe they could haul in a bunch of concrete barriers to protect the buildings. Idk. Map out a route you think would work. -

Like people driving their Yukons through the park? Or just a light show out in the parking lot? We did one of those drive through light shows this past winter at a race track. Great light show but the experience was really a letdown. -

Slap a Lysol label on it and you should be fine. -

The huge money makers require huge crowds. If the park is not allowed to have or cannot attract huge crowds? -

Depending how they structure the admission reservation system that part could be a big benefit as they might have really good handle on attendance a week or two out. There is still the weather to muck it up but that is nothing new. -

One thing they could do is bring in some carnival rides and set them up in the parking lot and pen them off. That would increase overall ride capacity and help spread people out. Of course that costs money and when half your customers have already paid and don’t really have to spend much when going to the park not sure what benefit that is other than maybe getting more daily ticket buyers in. -

They were so small when the coasters had hour long rat mazes. What are those people going to do now? I don’t see how they don’t have to use virtual queues on them as well because if they are going to space out people 6’ those queues can hold at best 2 cycles and that might be stretching it. -

Well, you should have plenty of time to practice sitting out in the midway waiting for your virtual queue time on Orion. -

Had never heard of the Pipe Creek Campus employee housing but it seems CP won’t be needing any time soon. Cool that they are letting the county use it for quarantining first responders though. https://sanduskyregister.com/news/245697/cp-hotel-welcomes-frontline-workers/ -
I guess KI could have a super secret cohort of Orion ride-ops they are training, but why? It takes hundreds of people to operate a park. We have not heard a peep about anybody starting training. That is not something that can be kept secret, for long anyway. Somebody’s sister, brother or friend is going to know they are going to the park for training and they are not covered by any NDA.

Like the new one? I have no idea if there will be one or not, have not heard a word about it. Probably will be one but won’t be announced until the park has an opening date.

CP has already announced they will not start running the new boat ride this season. I seriously doubt the island will be open at all given the play structure would be a huge hassle to keep sanitized and the village area is actor heavy and the quests involve carrying packages and such all over the place and those would have to be sanitized constantly as well. -

I read a couple of weeks ago the Corps of Engineers expects another record or near record year for lake levels. There was certainly less beach last year but still plenty. We spent about 3 Sundays there and it was never crowded down by the beach gate and rental shack with plenty of space to distance, hope it is the same this year. -
