Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
Made a concept here of a Mack launch. It results in The Beast's exit path returning to where it used to be and the exit path for this one using Beast's current one. The Rivertown arcade is gutted out and used as the queue line. The station basically is meant to look like a giant Brewery (similar to Sonder Brewing down the road from the park). The theme of this ride is based around brewing and lager (similar to Copperhead Strike with moonshine). The big brown building where Vortex's station was is a multi level rustic lodge dining facility similar to what Canada's Wonderland is getting next year. it would feature patios that overlook the area and would give guests nice views of the new coaster. The name of the coaster is Outback Rider -

Cool concept, however it would be very difficult to have the ride go through Beast's structure like that since they would have to modify the structure a bit. Not saying it isn't possible though as Europa Park did it with Blue Fire going through Wodan. However, I think the park would want to try and keep The Beast more secluded. I do like the idea of putting the station by the arcade. They could even gut out the arcade and use that building as a queue line with nice theming. You could then reroute Beast's exit path back to where it used to be and use the current one for the new coaster. By the way, where did you get this aerial shot? -
Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
I am vaccinated and am proud that I am. However, I can understand why some won't get it seeing that it's not FDA approved yet. It's only approved for emergency use. I'm also not a fan of the vaccine mandates going around for certain businesses as long as it's not fully approved. My Dad works in a doctor's office and he could lose his job if he doesn't get vaccinated before October. He won't get it bc it's not FDA approved and how we don't know for sure the long term affects. He says once it gets FDA approved, he'll be first in line to get it. -
What food would you like to see added to the park?
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to Thabto's topic in Kings Island
Visiting Carowinds and Harmony Hall today, it made me think of what Festhaus should be. I definitely think they should add more food options similar to what Harmony Hall has. Panda Express can be located somewhere else in the park and we already have two Larossas locations. Also, I tried Chickie's and Pete's. The cheese steak was very good along with their fries. I think a nice cheese steak place would be nice at KI. Maybe bring in Penn Station to the park similar to at Great American Ballpark. -

I just rode Copperhead Strike. Very fun ride. Definitely wouldn't mind something like that coming to KI replacing Vortex. -

You still can pass the virus droplets onto other people who could get sick and show more serious symptoms. -

While yes breakthrough cases can happen. No vaccine is 100% effective. At least 90% of hospitalizations in pretty much every state are from the unvaccinated. Source: UNM Health Sciences -
My dream would be a new restaurant on the 50 foot deck (would need a bunch of updates to the structure to allow it to be ADA accessable, like adding a small elevator/lift to one of the corners etc) and completely enclosing/air conditioning south plat (265') and having a spiral staircase connecting both platforms. However, this is just me dreaming and nothing more.

Canada's Wonderland is adding a multi level dining facility with an overlook patio in 2022. It'll be lodge themed. Honestly, I wouldn't mind something like that come to KI. They could put it where The Vortex station was and have it overlook The Beast, Diamondback, Mystic, and maybe a future coaster on the leftover land. -
Well this was a hard secret to keep, but glad it's now out lol @Dj325

I made a concept of a new Gerstlauer infinity coaster replacing Wicked Twister. It would be very similar to hangtime in theme and layout. In true Cedar Point fashion, it would take the record of the world's steepest drop and the tallest infinity coaster. Yes, I am well aware that the record breaking Gerstlauer is going to Glenwood Caverns, but I wouldn't completely rule out Cedar Point getting one as A) they fit in compact footprints (hangtime took up the space of a vekoma boomerang and some extra space around it) B: they are fairly cheap additions and C) it would look fantastic on the beachfront especially at night with the lighting package! I give you "Lake Erie Surf Rider" Let's hear your ideas on what may replace Wicked Twister in 2022/23 or beyond! I'd love to hear different opinions!

What food would you like to see added to the park?
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to Thabto's topic in Kings Island
Wait you think they'll just fill The Vortex plot with a lake? I don't think so. I highly doubt they would replace a ride that drew lots of people to experience it's last rides and was an icon to the park with nothing lol. I highly doubt they'll get rid of Rivertown Larossas as that is a park staple. I don't think they'll get rid of Coney Mall skyline or Subway either. Maybe they could turn the kill mart building into a restaurant. -

I would like to see an Italian place similar to Cedar Point's, a seafood restaurant, a country style restaurant in rivertown (featuring country fried chicken/steak, breakfast options, and more similar to Cracker Barrell). I would also like to see a Cattleman's style eatery that you can get at your local county fair that serves ribeye sandwiches and other beef goods and be located in Coney Mall. I also would love to see an indoor dining option similar to Festhaus/Harmony Hall in Planet Snoopy that has been discussed about here before. -
My main question is where would they put an indoor dining area with entertainment in that area of the park? The only area I can think of is the area where the peanuts gallery is/former petting zoo/theater, but I think it would be nice if they just put a nice playground under that structure or a water splash pad or a water maze (lol @Dj325)! I also have a feeling the whirlybirds might be on their way out. I think it was Carowinds or Kings Dominion that removed theirs for their Camp Snoopy expansion. You could fit a small kiddy flat or two where the Whirlybird's loading/queue structure is currently. You could even relocate Linus Launcher somewhere else in Snoopy and put a new flat that fits Rivertown where Linus is currently and move the log flume's theme back into Rivertown where it belongs.

Yes they have. I am actually good friends with the employee that sits there telling people it is closed.

Made another Mack launch concept! The name is Polar Vortex! I even made a logo for it! Here's the link to the picture I used for the blizzard background: https://www.dreamstime.com/illustration/blizzard-cartoon.html -
Grand Carnivale 2021 changes and reviews
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I know the last time they did Carnivale in 2019, they took a bunch people from rides and other departments to help with it. Didn't seem like they did that as much this year as I heard it is mainly the entertainment department doing it. -

LOL! That was just a joke for one of my crew members lol. Or how about this new joke I have: replace all the lights with multi color lights and have them programmed to new "poppy" music making it "better" lol -
Very interesting stuff. However, I think it is likely just an idea being considered for the future. Maybe up to 5 years out. Ik parks look at different things to add over the next 5 years and it could change with time. I would love a new indoor dining option in Planet Snoopy. They could even do the Lunch with the Peanuts Characters show they used to do in the Festhaus in there. They could even do a dinner time show as well! Wonder what food we could see in there!

Grand Carnivale 2021 changes and reviews
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Imo I think a country that should be added in the future is Israel. Idk why, but when I went to Israel in 2019, I fell in love with the food there ie falafels, shawarmas (gyros), pita bread + humus, etc.) I definitely agree they should add Mexico over near hanks. However, keep India and China in their respective locations. As for the drum float, I think I saw a video that it is at Carowinds for theirs. I haven't seen the parade up close in person, but I have seen videos and have seen it from the tower and it definitely looks like a hit. I think the big balloons are very cool. I do hope in the future they use more of the stages for entertainment other than just on the bandstand. I think International showplace would be a great place for a show. Maybe in the future bring back weekend concerts during Carnivale, but maybe bring in bigger name artists and do them in Timberwolf. I definitely think they should bring back the small stages that were used in 2019 and 2020 (Fall Fest). Definitely a great event and I hope it returns for many seasons to come. Not really counting on it for next year since I have a feeling Carnivale will be replaced for a 50th anniversary celebration event similar to Cedar Point. I honestly think Canada's Wonderland and Cedar Point should hold Carnivale in the future as well as they didn't do it in 2019. -

Made a concept similar to the one @MillenniumforceMike made, but made it a double launch coaster and a little different. The station/theme is very similar to Helix at Liseberg and part of the queue goes into the building and the stairs up to the platform are inside between the station and the storage area similar to Helix. The name is Lazer Snake and the theming would feature a lot of green LED lights and a "pumpy" soundtrack by IMAscore similar to Helix. -

Made a concept of a beach street kind of thing similar to what KD got this year in their waterpark. Here's what the concept includes: the colorful rectangle boxes are the food truck like food stands, the hot pink dots are tables, the big blue circle thing in the center is a splash pad, the black box in the right corner is a stage for live bands/shows, and the brown lines in front of the stage are benches to watch said shows. Note: I just made this concept and I forgot that their are power lines in this area, so this exact location isn't too likely, but they can do it in another location. Here's the pic: -

I like it! Looks very original and would fit the area well! Now the main question is, what would they theme it to. I don't think a country/western theme would fit there unless the station was over by Beast or by Rivertown Pizza. Knowing Kings Island, it's gotta have a story to go along with it. -
Basically 9/11 caused many places to put in these metal detectors. Then later on they started to phase out (KI got rid of the original ones in 2012) and then they brought them back following mass shootings in 2016. Basically, the mass shootings gave a lot of these places a wake up call from 9/11. I honestly think the metal detectors aren't a bad thing at all. It makes me feel a lot safer tbh.
