  1. I don’t believe Cedar Fair has any concern for shade coverage. They often don’t even fully shade their queue line to make it miserable to wait in line on a hot day. even a Kings Dominion, which is absolutely gorgeous because of the tree cover they have been cutting down trees, one by one each year and not replacing them They also just leave stumps. It is not that expensive to have someone with a stump grinder come in. As many trees as they cut down they should have their own stump grinder.
  2. Plant trees in the barren inner park. There are trees surrounding the park but not many left in the park.
  3. Mystic Timbers effects are VERY low tech. It does not take much effort to maintain those. That tells you how much effort they put into maintenance of theming. It’s a shame because they have been doing a rather good job with theming. That’s good the Mystic Timbers truck headlights are out though. They used those contemporary super bright bulbs that are not only blinding, but also out of theme. Although the entire truck is out of theme being a 60S truck
  4. What are they supposed to do? Operate as scheduled and give their employees. They’re scheduled hours. Again they aren’t closing because of torrential rains or tornado warnings, etc. They are closing for low attendance and using the weather as an excuse. It has stopped raining anytime this has happened to me. Dollywood does not do this if it rains they stay open in Dollywood closes is dangerous weather such as a snow storm That’s because Herschend has ethics, and knows how to treat their employees. Cedar Fair is an ethical. There’s a reason that person can operate almost daily 10 months of the year. They know how to treat their customers and employees
  5. They change their operating hours on the same day a LOT. They have done it repeatedly, a Kings Dominion and Carowinds They get some rain (not enough that in the past would not have stopped operations). Then they close the park, because attendance is low and blame the passing rain how is it obvious that it’s for low attendance? Because when this happened to me the rain to stop in plenty of time before the scheduled closing time I have been a victim to this multiple times after traveling to those parks. Weather forecast was fine, rain appeared, attendance was low, and they closed the entire park in fact, a Carowinds whats in November it was 50° all day and they close the park four hours early with not a cloud in the sky They offer rain checks, but they do not reimburse travelers for the travel time at hotels. A rain check does no good for someone that’s travel distance. Any company that cuts employee hours on the same day is not a good company to work for This company does not operate on ethics. Today they announce the Kings Dominion and Carowinds will not be here around anymore. Months after they started selling 2024 season passes. They knew their attendance (and losses) from last winter when they started selling six 2024 season passes, but they sure did not disclose that they are cutting two months off the operating schedule until now Cedar Fair is an unethical bait and switch company. I personally make a point not to spend a dime more than the passes at this park since they operate the way they do
  6. Have you learned by now there are some people that will defend the unethical practices of Cedar Fair on their customers AND employees, no matter what they do? Including nitpicking the definition of bait and switch. I also consider their early closings bait and switch. They advertised operating hours than they did not provide the service. And they only INTEND on providing the service. If the day is profitable to them. An ethical business Takes its profits with its losses and does not screw the customer AND employees on a bad day. Cedar Fair advertises a product, they get the peoples money, then they change the because they have a tiny disclaimer It’s legal, but it’s unethical People keep repurchasing season passes Not because they are being given a great product or service, but because they are relatively a cheap form of entertainment, if one goes enough. So the end result of these cheap season passes is a company who does not stand behind what they advertise uses a disclaimer to get out of it I know I continue to buy the passes for the above reason. They are low cost entertainment. Personally, I would rather pay more and get exactly what is expected. But I do know this, I would never work for Cedar Fair because of their clear lack of ethics
  7. Any business that advertises a product, then has a disclaimer that they may not provide the advertise product, is an unethical business. Period. an ethical business provides what is advertised and does not use disclaimers to fool customers.
  8. I’m not a fan of lights on formed frames. I prefer them in the trees and in the buildings. they are not going to do this because of the labor cost but imagine the train ride with lights in the high trees…..
  9. They need to separate the vocalists and the animals. For BOTH of their sakes.
  10. No. Even though meals are “free” eating more of the mediocre food there is not worth the price. Eating isn’t a hobby for me, so 2 meals are sufficient. I think the meal snd drink plan are appx $180 of my season pass package. That’s about 9 meals with drinks to bear even. I go at least 20x a year. Eating just one meal a visit would be appx $400 spent. Even if I was buying the sweets on the side, there is no way it would be $220 worth. I will say this for the season dining pass though. The food at these parks is not anything outstanding. So they probably do encourage people to eat at the park that would not eat at the park at all.
  11. Got it. So it’s believed people spend more during the season because of the meal plans. Personally the meal plans have probably cut my season expenditures in at least half of not more.
  12. Right. SIX offered the season dining pass for many seasons like Cedar Fair. When they eliminated it, it affected their attendance because their customers expected. Just like the Cedar Fair customers. I contend that It would’ve been better business and more profitable overall to have never offered it and just charged fair prices for food. but we are getting what we are paying for. A lesser experience because of the overall lower prices in a season pass package. this includes the sleazy procedure that in Cedar Fair house of closing some parks entirely if attendance is low and there is any rain That it is probably a high majority of season pass holders in attendance when they pull that trick. They know if even if they upset the season pass holders they will still buy the cheap season passes I would also prefer to pay more for a quality experience, longer park hours, all rides, operating, and most of all knowing that a Park is going to operate. It’s advertise hours when I travel.
  13. When SIX realized their cheap all season meal plans were not financially smart, they tried to take them away and it backfired even worse. SEAS was able to successfully eliminate their meal plan. But they have jacked prices up and cut hours so much it encourages customers to eat outside. I also don’t think they had their meal plan available very long, so it wasn’t as ingrained into their customers at Cedar Fair. Cedar Fair is in the same situation as Six Flags Their customers are so used to the low price season passes and meal plans, they are in a bad position to try to take them away or increase prices to the level they should be. So the solution is to jack up the price sky high on everything else and cut portions and good quality. Which is exactly what is happening. A better business plan IMO is to offer reasonably priced meals. Then they are never giving away food like they do on the meal plan and profit off of every transaction. When the meal plan is used 20 plus times in a season, it isn’t very profitable when labor is factored in. I like the season pass, meal plan, and drink plan, for $350 American purchasing through Canada’s Wonderland. That’s all I’m going to spend in Cedar Fair Park’s for an entire season except for some camping at kings dominion. But just because the plan works well for me, I can’t defend it as a smart business practice. and I still contend these cheap season passes and meal plans are ultimately the problem that is leading to all of these cutbacks. When customers get things cheaply, they’re going to get a lower quality product.
  14. They have shot themselves in the foot with a meal plan. They make so little off of most of the meal plans that they jacked the price of sky high for individual meals. I think the better business plan is just to have reasonably priced meals instead of the meal plan. But they’re in too far to turn around now.
  15. Monster is not designed for efficiency unfortunately. Like ferris wheels. The Huss Magic has a similar motion to monster but loads all gondolas at once. Plus it has 4 person gondolas suspended from above. Huss just introduced a new version of it, so hopefully some parks will get one. It’s a great ride. (This is not wishing that monster would be replaced with a magic. Monster is one of the original heritage rides that needs to stay)
  16. I don’t know why they just didn’t spend the money to build another bridge over the railroad tracks when they rerouted the queue. It would’ve paid for itself by now with the savings in labor cost of somebody watching that crossing. Plus, there’s much more needed jobs that need filled than that one.
  17. The root of what’s stated above is Cedar Fairs current penny pinching, cost cutting mindset. They must be mimicking SEAS. I’m surprised (and thankful) that theming wasn’t a victim But they did offset that with cheap Zamperla junk This cost cutting is impacting the guest experience And will not increase attendance
  18. The live entertainment is very weak. Nytewalkers plus the very worn out Monster Rock. No offense to the great talent in the show but that show has had the same playlist and high school choreography forever.
  19. It’s only 12 nights but it’s the only 12 nights of the year with extended darkness for night rides. Summer season only has about an hour of night. Winterfest doesn’t have many rides
  20. There’s nothing scary about any of the actors. They are people dressed up. The ones coming at you on the midway are annoying. Not scary. I agree with the original post. If people like being jumped at the better use for the employees is at the mazes. We all know that Haunt does not bring in a high quality crowd (the reason for no re-entry) . If they didn’t have these annoying actors jumping at people through the park, they might perhaps increase the quality of the crowd with people who don’t care for that stuff, but would like to go to the park for night rides. Cedar Point limits their midway actors to Frontiertown/Trail. The majority of the park midways are just normal night operations. This works great and seems to bring a better quality crowd as they allow re-entry.
  21. I guess I was wrong! But my distrust for this company with their past lies made me pre dispositions to think this was a lie. However, who ever set up the webpage did not do a good job. You would think they would include free parking in the list of perks, not the disclaimer. Especially since parking wasn’t not previously included. but I do wonder since it’s included in the disclaimer if they’re able to take the free parking away at some point. They are selling a $290 platinum pass now for $199. and if you buy it from Canada’s Wonderland that’s in Canadian dollars so it’s really about $160-170 American
  22. They have posted their 2020 for prices. They were lying. Goal pass right now is $99 parking is $85 and the upgrade is $100 that’s $284. That’s the pricing if a person buys their season, pass with the usual early purchase a discount. That’s only $6 dollars less than the platinum was during the prime 2023 season. Sure their advertising uses the wording “up to $65” but it’s just an outright lie. Cedar Fair loves to use sleazy disclaimers and such in their marketing. I have come to the come to the conclusion that this company is not run by honest people. And honest company does not Paul bait and switch. They do not advertise discounts that really don’t in reality. I know that my personal ethics would not allow me to work in the marketing department for this company.
  23. Yes if it was a high quality, animatronic based ride like the original. But I fear it would be screen based with shooting like Knotts Beary Tales remake
  24. Referring to Cedar Fair I’m general. Especially Carowinds and Kings Dominion. I have been burnt multiple times at those parks by ghost weather closures At today. KI. Crowded park. Racer running 1 side. Railroad with 3 cars. 1 train on AE.
  25. What we are told from Cedar Fair employees cannot be trusted because they are told to lie from management. Cedar Fair management puts their employees in a bad position when they tell them to lie. Like when they close the park for low attendance, and mgmt tells employees to lie and say it is weather.
