Despite the issues the ride had, Top Thrill Dragster was still seen as one of Cedar Point's most iconic coasters. The top hat element is the tallest structure in the park and can be seen as Cedar Point's version of our Eiffel Tower. I don't think Cedar Point was going to fool the general public that this was going to be a completely different ride, especially considering most of the existing ride was still going to be there, so sticking with the Top Thrill naming made some sense there. Though I do agree that they should've added some sort of formula or other racing term in the name instead of just calling it "Top Thrill 2: Electric Boogaloo".

I wouldn't be surprised if Xcelerator at Knotts gets the Zamperla treatment at some point considering it's about as much of a maintenance nightmare as TTD was. For Flight of Fear, however, it's harder to say. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears the Zamperla lightning trains were designed specifically for older Intamins, not premier rides launch coasters like FoF. Plus, the fact that FoF is an indoor coaster could make it more difficult to do any major modifications to the track and/or launch system.

I think the ride looks solid, but wow. Cedar Point needs to work on their coaster names. -

Does anyone recall when Cedar Point announced Wild Mouse and the Boardwalk last year? It could be another pre-recorded announcement. -

The markers that were found in Planet Snoopy were near the old peanuts theater. It's on the opposite side of PS from where the great pumpkin coaster is located.

Fury 325 Support Failure

Apparently there has been a weld indication cited by the North Carolina Department of Labor, likely related to the earlier report of a second crack. https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/channel-9-confirms-second-break-carowinds-fury-325/VXT6UDERRFEQHGEDB37EHH22DI/ -
I've already received three surveys this year from Kings Island and it appears surveys are being sent out more frequently throughout the entire chain. Heck, Canada's Wonderland probably spoiled what their next coaster is going to be just from a survey they sent out several weeks back.

Guest injured by phone on Maverick

Someone with small or loose pockets combined with the absurd forces you get on a ride on Maverick, I can definitely see how it's possible. -
I don't really have an issue with the content being shown, I just think it's a bit strange they haven't updated their content much since then.

Top Thrill Dragster Incident

He didn't deconfirm Zamperla entirely, just the shipping labels that have been spotted around the site. We still don't know where the new track came from. -
When was the last time FunTV was even updated? From what I recall earlier in the 2023 season, they were still playing those videos on the construction of Mystic Timbers and Steel Vengeance that were shown back when those rides were new.

This is just an idea I've been thinking about so try not to take it too seriously, but what if Kings Island went with GCI to do a Son of Beast re-imagining instead of RMC? Cedar Fair has a much better relationship with GCI compared to RMC, and GCI/Skyline have marketed their Infinity Flyer trains and steel Titan Track as being able to do inversions and being capable of providing -1g forces. In an IAAPA interview with Clair Hain jr. who is the president of GCI, he states specifically that the infinity flyers are capable of doing "corkscrews and loops". This may provide another benefit of going with GCI is that they may be able to put a traditional loop on a re-imagined Son of Beast, whereas RMC has been reluctant to include traditional loops on any of their coasters. We've also been able to see just how flexible GCI and Skyline are with their new Infinity Flyer and Titan Track concepts that they brought a spiral lift hill to Zambezi Zinger, nothing that's too crazy but it is worth noting since spiral lift hills are exceedingly rare with modern coasters. The main concern I have with this idea is if GCI would be willing to build a 200ft tall coaster on a similar scale to Son of Beast. I do think it may work well if they choose to use a steel structure like they've been using with a lot of their recent additions like Texas Stingray or Zambezi Zinger. The steel structure will probably be mandatory on a project like this considering a lot of the issues that plagued Son of Beast came specifically from the sub-par wooden support structure. This would also be quite out-of-character for Kings Island too, since their recent coaster additions have been on the "safer" side. If you look at Diamondback, Banshee, Mystic Timbers and Orion, those coasters don't do anything too crazy or different that hasn't already been done with similar rides that have been built previously throughout the chain. This would definitely give Kings Island a modern one-of-a-kind coaster that stands out from anything else in the area, but it's too different and risky from what we've come to expect out of the park to where I can't comfortably make a prediction out of it, it's more-so an idea at the moment. Then again, nobody expected Cedar Point to go with Zamperla to redo TTD, so who knows?

Not just that, the construction for Steel Vengeance and Twisted Timbers both started in late 2016 despite both of those rides opening in 2018. If we were to get a ground-up RMC for 2025, it would make sense for them to start construction in late 2023. Not saying this is what's happening, because I do think there's still too much going against the idea of an RMC going to Kings Island with the issues Cedar Fair has had with their 2018 coasters.

Canada's Wonderland's Next Coaster
WoodVengeance replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Those reports are confirmed. A new video from Amusement Insiders states that survey markers were very recently placed near the international showplace and other areas surrounding the wonder mountain. It's seems likely that Canada's Wonderland is already going ahead with the first concept. It does make me concerned over what exactly Canada's Wonderland is going to remove in order to fit a wing coaster into the mountain. WMG is likely getting removed if the station for the new ride is going to be in the International Showplace area. I hope they find a way to keep Vortex though. -
Usually this would be the case. I think a factor we need to take into consideration is just how far along Kings Island is with planning their 2024 addition(s). Although Cedar Fair had its announcements in august last year for Carowinds's Aeronautica Landing and Cedar Point's Boardwalk, Kings Island didn't announce Adventure Port until late September, and this was later revealed to be due to Adventure Port basically being a last-minute decision for 2023.

Canada's Wonderland's Next Coaster
WoodVengeance replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I've heard that the park has had various issues with WMG since they put it in, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets removed even if they don't go with the blast coaster concept. I feel the concert concept is far more feasible since it'll probably go in the Kingswood Theater area, which I've heard is already being phased out of the park.
