  1. Just because two companies submitted bids does not necessarily mean two companies' bids were given equal consideration. On the other hand, one of the two companies does far more of this type of work than the other. And park "PR goddess[es]" are good at what they do. Convey a message in such a way that what is meant to be communicated is what is heard. I believe that is called spinning.
  2. Universal. Save Disney for the California trip(s). Can you even get a Disney park hopper on a one day pass?
  3. Park Restoration has appealed the judge's decision awarding part of the Beach Club insurance proceeds to pay the debts of another, alleging a Fifth Amendment taking--taking private property for public use without just compensation. The case was referred to ADR (Alternate Dispute Resolution) yesterday. http://www.goerie.com/appeal-filed-in-conneaut-lake-park-bankruptcy Terp will not be commenting about the merits, or lack thereof, of the appeal--as he cannot. And that's all he can even say about that.
  4. But see Dairy Cheer, Home Of The Smashburger...
  5. In March, 2015, Shake Shack applied for trademark registration for "Chicken Shack." Today, the Chick'n Shack sandwich debuts at Shake Shack. Terp, just notin'.
  6. I can just imagine how these VR headsets will be "cleaned." Even if it starts out that way, how long will that last? A week? A month? This is a park that can't even not run trains in maintenance mode with guests aboard--as has been pointed out...
  7. Yep. Kinzel could have sold out to Apollo Global WITHOUT a unitholder vote. You'd likely NOT have Diamondback or Banshee... Investor pressure can be a GOOD thing. Creditors can have strong says regardless of corporate governance. See Conneaut Lake Park...
  8. ...or lice, pink eye, scabies... Or one comes loose and kabooms another rider--perhaps in the eye(s).
  9. Actually, Dollywood is operated by The Dollywood Company, in which Herschend has an interest.
  10. I would make a Mickey Mouse comment--but wouldn't be prudent.
  11. Wonder more why his duties are being divided among existing employees...
  12. John Mulcahy Left Kentucky Kingdom. Exciting Opportunity In China. Duties Divided Among Five Other Employees, Announcement Made By Mr. Ed Hart: http://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/local/2016/01/11/kentucky-kingdom-spokesman-mulcahy-leaving/78642102/
  13. jburkard: Welcome to KIC. And note the park is currently scheduled to be closed to the public on Sunday, April 17.
  14. Either: Beast in the snow. (Paramount era--I doubt that ever happens again). Or: Beast the time we saw a deer jump the track just ahead of us (never again, that section is now fenced off).
  15. Someone's been gone for quite some time. And like many things, there was a reason. And it continued. Until it didn't. There was a reason for that, too. No one rang a bell. No anger though. Just doing what had to be done. And then...
  16. There are many, many posts and threads about the park here. Jeff Siebert worked there for a while, before he went to Kings Island. The Screechin' Eagle was one of the very best John Miller coasters--with some VERY odd trains. The flume, by Barr Engineering, was more of a raging rapids ride than a flume. I saw more than one young boy dive into it, over the years. Miraculously, they lived. I often worked Americana into my Kings Island trips. It was a very good park.
  17. Six Flags Great Adventure has a whole closed off area....
  18. You can do it. Good on you! And older? I was at Kings Island's opening day...and not as a child.
  19. More history on this. (Why DOES Terp do this? And why NOW? Who is the intended audience? And didn't he say he no longer drinks carbonated beverages? So many questions. So few answers. For now.)
  20. Such a good idea. Will this be the year? Terp, who for all kinds of reasons, likes to ask questions.
