  1. This again... -No there is no law against filming/taking photos from off property -Yes you can fly over the park -Kings Island saying pretty please don't do something doesn't mean it's law Lastly this would not repeatedly come up if the park was forward in the first place instead up being abstract. How hard is it to say, "For the safety of our team leading the construction we will be for the remainder of the build shut down our webcams, Thank you for understanding"
  2. Well I guess there goes my title as the KI Pilot. Yes KI has a No Drone rule, but I do not for a minute believe they have the right to tell paragliders or airplanes not to post photos of the park. That's like them asking politely no fan to go to Mason City Council to aquire blueprints. Now we are a fan site and always will be the unofficial fan site of Kings Island, even in the sites Description it says we are not affiliated with the park so former mods to current mods please hear me out to keep this site open and free to all fans to discuss and share. As we are not affiliated that in itself means we are a free forum to share and discuss these topics and media as long as no crime is committed, and as the paraglider and I as a pilot have mentioned year after year, there is no law against flying over the park and no law against snapping photos. Please keep this site free for it's users to discuss without outside lobbyist dictating how you should run the forums and it's shared content. Thank you. Captain Nemo out.
  3. Is Robb behind this Twitter group too? When it comes to Twitter it's best just to be a silent observer even if you are a fan of someone's work.
  4. There is no such ban. I flew over the park all the time sometimes as low as 1000 feet. The only thing I ever was asked by the park during Cedar Fairs ownership was to not post certain construction photos during off season. Now as the photos were my property I decided to release the photos. Otherwise, the park has made a move to ban drones. But the area above KI is open airspace.
  5. Eejanaika is my #1. I know they have a hefty price tag but I honestly said to myself after riding it and X2 "Why are there not more of these?!"
  6. "Liability"? Are they having Intamin put in charge of the demolition?! Sorry, but after all we have seen with them pulling these excuses with Diamondback, Banshee, and Mystic Timbers and now Orion it's just not flying anymore. Just be honest and tweet, "For the safety and sensitive work of the workers involved with the demolition of Vortex we have decided to pull the feed on this webcam until the work has completed. Thank you for your understanding" I don't believe we or the GP will have any issue with that. How is this difficult KI?!
  7. Me... Banned.... Never! Except TPR I'm banned from their Twitter for posting a photo of my Starbucks
  8. Most times something closing with such a limited amount of time and haste normally point to a structural failure or a negative inspection by the state. The park would be forced with an option to spend millions of dollars to fix the issue or just decide to retire it completely.
  9. Just like they did with Banshee, Diamondback, Mystic, and now Orion during key construction moments I guarantee they will magically turn off for "updates" during testing. Just kind of comes off like MJ putting a blanket on his kids to prevent any paparazzi pictures.
  10. My original intent was to share my Robb Alvey story from 2005 at Tomb Raider but since it involves another fan sites admin and would go against TOS I don't wish to share it. Let's just say it wasn't good Instead I want to detail just working in general in 2005 the Tomb Raider ride. This was my first season at the park. I feel it was such an honor to work this attraction while it was still operating at its peak performance in terms of themeing before Cedar Fair began it's de-theming the following season. Tomb Raider was the only attraction I ever worked (or more so known) where there was a audible and unprovoked applause/cheering at it's conclusion. This was well before the times of "Welcome back riders how was that ride". It was a nice feeling to be part of the only attraction that had that love that left guests wanting more. Made going to work worth all the work we put into it. Not a day goes by I miss those days and hearing those cheers as the house lights went back up. Of course it was always nice to get worried calls from Beast and WWC whenever the ride would Skew.
  11. The animation may not accurately to depict the depth and may use a different field of view. In 2008 this very same site was talking about what we would think was going to be a head chopper moment on Diamondback based off the animation and in reality did not turn out to be as much of the moment we had been expecting.
  12. Giga unconfirmed. That basically rests the case that this is indeed NOT a Giga.
  13. Number 5 is alive was in fact alluding to 5th car of the train for Cedar Creek arrow coaster at Cedar Point.
  14. It's getting the RMC treatment, it's also going to be a Giga (but not really). Welcome back UncleHenry. When is KIC Survivor season 3?
  15. I open this topic and BOOM there's my face. But the answer is yes, we old-timers do still lurk this site time to time. We have grown, started families, and can only ride coasters in moderation now, but we are still here.
  16. With that professional shot of Vortex I fully expect just as awesome a pic of TOPGUN1993 fashioning that KIC shirt!
  17. As former moderator, let's move conversations to personal messages if they do not pertain to any specific discussion on the topics on our forum. This is KIC, not a YouTube comment section
  18. Dozens of videos on Snapchat, YouTube, and the now trending #GreatAmerica on Twitter shows massive crowds running out of the park. Reports are still coming in but looks to have been a large scale evacuation.
  19. As great a park Cedar Point is it is not news to anyone they it becomes more and more popular each year especially now as it advertises as a resort destination. Parking and transportation to the park as we all know is unfortunately not the prime entrance we all hope for but what can a park do with it's only entrance to and from is through a 4 lane road and a small town? From a consumer point of view what do you think needs to be done or wish could be done to create a better parking/transport to and from Cedar Point? _____________________ My ideas: Segregating parking: As it stands now it's a free-for-all for all public parking spots, that includes the water park and for some the resorts. The back have parking lot should be closed to only waterpark / resort patrons. During the summer while I was there and the waterpark was open, there are absolutely zero spaces left in the back parking lot. As Cedar Point looks to become a resort, they need to make sure that their patrons have adequate parking for all their areas. New parking garage: On top of separating parking, I do believe both the back parking lot and front need to be replaced with a parking structure garage. they have enough space to create a parking structure with adequate amount of space with many on and off ramps to keep traffic flowing (much how universal uses their parking structure) Expand the causeway: at the moment it is a four-lane road. Two on and two off. during some of those more crowded days it is not uncommon to see them close one of the incoming lanes to use that has an extra Lane; this however creates a merging traffic issue at the end of The causeway as you need to merge back into two lanes. Additionally there's another merging issue from those entering the causeway from the back parking lot. Create a new entry parking plaza: much like Kings Island expanded there's, Cedar Point has only 6 toll booths. Considering Cedar Point invests in a parking structure, this new entry parking plaza can better direct people to certain parking based on their desires of the visit. Additionally more toll booths that are built the more cars that go through. Off peninsula parking: this idea comes as a two part of which all further go into in the next section. While the area outside of the causeways pretty much developed, this comes more as a (if the opportunity arises). But next comes the transportation to the peninsula. Park transportation: one thing many regional Parks have ceased in the past 20 years is complimentary transportation. The only resort that does this is Disney. Disney has their buses the monorail and now the new skyliner. Cedar Point does not have the budget Disney does but there are definitely options available. I believe some off Park transportation should be made as the peninsula is quite a large area of land. As it stands now a sky ride would be the cheapest option. If a station were to be built at Castaway Bay (can also be a pick-up point for the parking structure off the peninsula), perimeter road between front entrance and Pier, Hotel Breakers, and waterpark entrance. Lastly it just comes down to working with the city of Sandusky to work on better traffic patterns during peak times. Unfortunately again the entrance to the park is in the middle of a small town, there's no right or wrong way to do it as large projects like these May displace families that have lived in this town for generations. If the city were able to come up with a plan for a direct access to OH-2 (maybe by building a new access ramp between Cedar Point Dr and Cedar Point road)
  20. So in terms of GP reaction I have already heard from 2 people all the way in Vegas of their reaction to the closure... And it was confusion and more so unhappy. The biggest takeaway I got from this is just how far and wide this particular ride has become public knowledge. it is widely one of the most photographed coasters in the world, at one point I'm sure a photo of this ride has been in one of your physics textbooks. That being said I'm quite unhappy with how the announcement went. An early a.m. tweet and blog post just isn't the way to go. Feels like a break up via text. KI I love visiting your park but this was not the way to retire such a legendary ride. it's a shame that you who work for this great part don't share the same enthusiasm. Words of advice, the next arrow you decide to remove make sure you give it a farewell season.
  21. Please be more specific because photos from private airplanes and photos taken of the park from off property are all reasonable sources as well.
  22. Have you visited Magic Mountain, or New England, or GAdv, Fiesta Texas or Great America? This parks are amazing and I don't think the general public is going to feel embarrassed by an announcement because the company providing it is for ENTERTAINMENT. I kind of appreciate that they have fun with their announcement video and put some pizzazz into it.
