  1. Does the security camera industry charge premiums for higher levels of service? I.e., is it prohibitively expensive to have HD vs. Analog cameras? Are companies charged more to have straight-on, wide-angle viewpoints vs. half-angle, round-the-corner views? Oy! I often wonder why, in this world where even 2G phones have better video capability than some security systems, we still see blotchy, blurry camera footage on the nightly news. "Police are looking for this man, last seen wearing an 8-bit, pixilated hoodie, having blotchy, grey eyes, and walking in a jerky, 2-foot incremental hyperspace motion..." Anyway, just always operate under the assumtion that someone is watching you, so guard your combo! Also, I watched a guy at Walmart try to purchase a gift card with a credit card number he had written on a napkin... and almost got away with it! Keep your credit card numbers and check numbers hidden. Thieves are watching!
  2. Slide rules. So does Terpy. ...Tb, going over to the office treadmill to laugh it off!
  3. Geez, I sure didn't have my wits with me last night... I think I was trying to ask about the 100 millionth Racer rider. If both sides are in operation, would the count alternate between sides? Blue and red first rows, followed by blue and red second rows...ending with the last rows? So, for instance if the count needed 4 riders to reach the magic number, does Red/unload side/front-row get the pick? And the 5th rider is Blue/unload side/second-row? Or maybe whichever side wins the race starts the count and numbers 1-30 are on the winning side? We have a plan in place as guests approach the station the day of the milestone ride so we'll know exactly who the 100-millionth rider on The Racer is. Trained, super-intelligent primates? Brilliant! ...or, well, no. Not really, no.
  4. ^ We already had a Don/Chuck comparison going way back during Diamondback's construction: The man: "... can chew some wood and some nails and spit out a roller coaster. ... can solve a Rubik's Cube with a single flick of the wrist. ... can open two new bottles of ketchup with one hand. ... can cook Foie Gras with a microwave. ... conquered Mt. Everest ...in shorts." Somewhere in this thread: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/14571-Diamondback-construction-thread-updated-3-19-09/page-98
  5. You'll find this is a very intelligent, well-moderated site filled with bright, well-spoken people who have a way of bringing even the rudest visitors around to the KIC way of friendly conversation! ~It's like magic! ~
  6. Shake, Rattle & Roll to me always seemed to glide, swing and spin... smoothly, rather than in a manner reminiscent of its Haley-esque moniker (I used to believe (theorize) that its proximity to the old "Haley's Comet" ride somehow contributed to the ultimate choice of names for our venerable Troika -- for you see, Bill Haley and His Comets had a hit cover of a Jesse Stone/Joe Turner song called "Shake Rattle & Roll" in 1954...) I could be wrong, though; but it feels right.
  7. ^ It'd be a lot easier than playing "Twister" with it.
  8. They've got the ride up on stacks of wood beams that look like giant "Jenga" blocks. It's literally "up on blocks!"
  9. Maybe my brother will get a picture with "Thor." Seriously, his name is Thomas, and he started to have his name tattooed on his arm, but never went back to have it finished, so, because the artist stopped a little less than halfway through the 'm" in his name, he's had "Thor" tatooed on his arm since 1990.
  10. Don't forget: Roy Disney's counsel is somewhere in the very fabric of our beloved acres...
  11. Ok. S.H.I.E.L.D operates the thing, but Stark built it, and after what he and Cap' had to go through to keep it flying (I haven't seen the movie whose trailer shows it crashing yet), I think they deserve to fly it around awhile; visit an amusement park here and there... see some sights...
  12. Sure has! Especially since they brought in Hollywood big gun Bill Paxton (Million Dollar Arm, Aliens, Apollo 13, Titanic, Twister, True Lies, Tombstone, The Terminator......)
  13. Will they be taking the company car? Parody; images from multiple sources. For expression only.
  14. It'd be funny if, like, 8 Tom Hiddleston look-alikes showed up to play "Loki" in multiple locations.
  15. The pens might be boring (I don't remember them myself, but I always had a parent or older sibling with me). Maybe there should be an interactive, large-screen interface with the ORP cameras, where kids can watch for their parents on the screen and "zap" them as they go by, making the picture that much more fun for all. It would be entertaining to see all the little circles pop up on the screen as the trains go by. Maybe there could be two or three of these passes along the track, so kids have 2-3 chances to get a good pic. Probably already exists somewhere.
  16. Spitters, either on the walkways or from elevated places (which is illegal). Gross!
  17. I must say, I have heard young guests mock scream on the lift hill of The Beast, only to start genuinely screaming (you can tell) when the train starts barreling towards that tiny, "head-choppin'" tunnel below. Cracks me up every time!
  18. People who scream like they're on Banshee.... while on the Scrambler! Before it starts moving.
  19. I first misread this as "Run with Security." I thought it was a charity running event of some kind. For real.
  20. Line jumping is number 8? I guess this list is in no particular order.
  21. It is something of an oddity that is fondly accepted as one of Kings Island's little 'quirks': that disproportionately long, picturesque queue that takes you to the 5th-shortest-duration* coaster in the park. *(112 seconds; source: rcdb.com (FAAC, WE and Invertigo all tied for 4th at 90 seconds)).
  22. Awesome PTR! I especially like the Spinning Dragons fountain and ride pic. Beautiful!
  23. I heard the word "fun" mentioned four times! (Just mail me my Cupie Doll, or place it in the noodle and it'll show up back at my office)
