GREAT AMERICA (CA): What now?
Gordon Bombay replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
From what I understand, their plan will have them paid off in 2012. Something Jeff Putz over at Coasterbuzz has been saying. Take it for what it's worth. With all due respect to Mr. Putz and his site but where has this been confirmed by Cedar Fair? So far in their conference calls they haven't given an accurate estimate let alone much indulged us in what their exact plan is? While Mr. Putz could be right, I certainly dont see where he's getting that information from. -
Where is tomb raider theming being used for HH?
-
Actually, as of now they are not testing any of the former GL wood coaster train on any KI wooden coaster.
-
Shelly, check your PM inbox, i sent you a message in regards to your question that will hopefully help. Also, theres no reason to type in all caps Check out the front page article where you can see photographs and video from the event that may offer you a taste of what you will encounter at Halloween Haunt.

Or even just a classic log flume would be a nice fit at that park. I'd love to see a nice wooden coaster or log flume appaer at Coney. Kind of turn Coney into a Holiday World that I can enjoy.
-
Excellent point, i did overlook the fact they do own frito lay and KI does have a lot of Frito Lay products. Maybe is not a sign after all.
-
I too would rather have Pepsi at the park than Coke. I've stopped drinking except for on certain occasions but I prefer Gatorade over Powerade any day.

Kings Island has traditionally been a favorite place to guzzle down a fine Coke product on a hot day. Paramount Parks (under CBS) signed a 5 year contract wtih Coke in 2006 before the aquisition by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. However it is well known that the legacy parks of CF have traditionally in recent years served Pepsi products and continue to still do so while the Paramount parks have continued to serve Coke products although maybe that will change? Awhile ago a similar article was posted about a woman working in KI's cash offices who was caught stealing money, recently I cam across a similar article... http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art...08230362/-1/all According to the article, the woman was caught when it had been found that Pepsi had not been paid a $75,000 bill (which was the cost in a month, according to the article). KI has continued to serve Coke products this year. It makes one wonder if maybe the park is preparing to serve Pepsi for the upcoming 2008 season. On the other hand, it could be an errror in reporting, maybe Mrs. Hutzel meant to say Coke or maybe the Enquirer got it wrong.

I dont know why they do that, its rather odd. By law a minor must have one 1/2 hour long break every 5 hours of an open work shift and must be clocked out from their job by 11 P.M. if they are enrolled in school and it is a school night. However, on a night when there isn't school they are not restricted by how late they can work according to Ohio Revised Code chapter 4109: ( http://198.234.41.198/w3/webwh.nsf/Files/M...E/MLLPoster.pdf ). Also, citywide weekend curfews for minors are hardly in existence anymore around this area. The city of Fairfield did away with theirs in 2006 ( I was stopped in 2005 by a polic officer who questioned me about why I was out so late and had to show proof that I was returning from my place of employment ). Most city's have an exception in thier curfews for minors going to and from places of employment. I dont believe Mason has a curfew, my last year of High School ( 2007 ) We did a civics day project with schools in Mason and one of the things we debated was city wide curfews and to my knowledge at that time Mason had no curfew. It could be a CF company rule, if so, I beleive they're wasting their time by staying open so late.

Third tallest coaster being built
Gordon Bombay replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
We're going back to the moon, then to Mars, and we're building rollercoasters while we're at it. I just hope the reliability of this one is good. I wonder if when this is built if it will go on RCDB? -
How would you feel about KIC text alerts?
Gordon Bombay replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
I have one of those back at my house in Cincinnati that I recovered from the Crosley Building, cleaned it up and it still works fine. The best part is its red too, like the phone Commishoner Gordon used to use to call Batman. -
DiSab, you do know its always had trims on teh first drop right? Let the unforgivng begin! Woofer can help you.....im sure he'll blame this one on Paramount.

Cincinnati Enquirer Aricle About Halloween Haunt
Gordon Bombay replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Hey, im in that photo too! Just a lot further back. Next time were in a commercial filming and the woman asks "who wants to be put in make up?", i wont say no. -
There are trims on the first drop and there always have been... 2006: -Note the trim brakes in the bottom of the picture right in front of the train. 1979: -Note the older style "skid" trim brakes on the first drop. The Beast has always had trim brakes, just different types of technology throughout the years, it has always gone the same speed, now you are just stopped more abruptly.

The station master can still speak, you just have to talk to the right person to hear about the closing of the main tunnel.
-
I really wouldn't lend much credibility to the guy who cant even spell "cost", much less even get the facts right about the theming contractual agreements which have been pointed out to him multiple times in this topic. I think the evidence Todd has pointed out is a pretty good indication of things to come.
-
Fixed. Nice trip report. Glad you had a good time. Sorry to hear that the worksite was a bit lame, thats my favorite one at the park.
-
^Are you hinting that CF may try to close KI? If so, thats the funniest thing I've read all day, it almost as funny as Beast1979's logic.
-
Originally there we plans to have a giant drop on the stop where Flight Commander used to be but those plans changed when Paramount decided to go for the gyro drop as part of the Action Zone expansion in 1999.

Come on guys he has dial up, you know...the "ORIGIONAL" internet, leave him alone.

Where are the SOB getting Villian's trains threads?!
Gordon Bombay replied to tigellinus's topic in Rumors
hahah ok fan of beast. While I personally prefer Beast over SOB (and you know this for a fact ), let jsut say that Villain in 2006 was far more rough than SOB in 2006. -
While the base colors of red and yellow were the same as well as the patterns of red and yellow, the "bio hazard" markings were nt originally found on The Beast trains. Today SOB has been retrofitted with Gerstauler trains and now has red and blue trains.

Where are the SOB getting Villian's trains threads?!
Gordon Bombay replied to tigellinus's topic in Rumors
The Villain is an awful rollercoaster, rougher than SOB, maybe KI could better up keep it, but that would be hard as even when the thing was smooth it still sucked. Just cause its posted on GL Today does not make it fact, just pure speculation like on here. Oh and Cstrwoman if your gonna claim wild rumors nad what not are on this site or that site, how about doing us all the minor conveinence and taking two seconds to link to those pages.
