Great TR standbyme, sorry we walked in front of you You should've introduced yourself and said hi and asked me about my harmonica! Where did you hear minors have to leave by midnight? I dont think thats true, I know in the rides department that rule is not required and if local communities do have curfews for minors they are not enforced on kids traveling to and from work.

How is it that Hershey can keep that thing with such low ridership and such high maintenance costs? Thats simple, because it doesnt have low ridership.....at hershey. Theres no other similar rides that are better preferred by their guests. Theres another flume, but it is for very small children, its way more tame than wild thronberrys. The coal cracker has no other rides to compete with inside its own park where as KCK has the thornberry rides jsut down the midway, congo falls, and wwc.

MA OFFICIALLY gets [Thunderhawk]
Gordon Bombay replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I dont think the general public really cares, especially for the non-enthusiasts (which is the major majority of the general public) it can be an attraction they've never experienced. My favorite thing that I heard while waiting in line for Firehawk.... Ride Op: "Enjoy your ride on Ohio's ONLY flying rollercoaster" Random guest: "What! X flight is a flying rollercoaster! Firehawk isn't the only one!" -

I wonder why they haven't announced Dominator yet, maybe its not going to KD. -
Yeah, Im sure KI never did a thing for it.

Depending on how their negotiations are with with each licensing agreement they may have to spend money re-naming things soon. Keep in mind Beast1979 didn't even know the correct facts about how the licensing agreements work and has consistently shown he has no inside info about the situation.
-
Never once has Kinzel been quoted as saying in the conference calls that he wants to extend the naming rights. Each ride has seperate licensing agreements each with its own amount of time. Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle has its own licensing agreements through Sally Dark rides who refurbished and rethemed the ride in 2003. The Nick Universe rights were intially agreed to be licensed for 4 years and Kinzel has yet to give an answer in the conference calls as to what is happening with those. He has been quoted as saying its still an avenue they're pursuing but haven't come to an agreement or decision yet.

Do you mean "risque"? Because I really didn't feel like anything was in danger when I saw the show for the third time this past saturday.

The lake didnt go around the whole station, just under the turn around and to the right of the ride. From what I've heard they removed it due to all the trash being thrown in it and the mosquitos that would gather around it, I've also heard it was removed because when they put in Vortex they had to slightly reprofile the land and the lake was in the way. Some people say thats the boat they used to use to go pick up trash off the lake in, that boat could be seen when riding The Beast when you looked left while going through the break shed.

Dominator currently being removed.

I wonder where they are tooking it to? -
Nope, that is incorrect. Ohio does not have such a law. Certain cities and counties have restrictions on minor's driver licenses that do impose a curfew however that curfew is not state wide. I live in the city of Fairfield, our city has used to have that curfew on friday and saturday nights. However, there are exemptions in those curfew laws, one of those being work related travel. I worked at KI for two years under the age of 18. In the summer of 2005 I was in an automobile accident when I was rear ended at a stop light just outside of Mason. The person who was at fault (the gentleman behind me who rear ended me) tried to claim this would never have happened had I been obeying the curfew, the cop questioned me about why I was out so late so I showed him my uniform shirt, name tag, and I.D. and even offered to show him my schedule to show I was within the my rights and he kindly agreed then pointed that out to the jerk behind me. The city of Hamilton had a curfew untill 2006 when it was re-voked because very litte was being done to enforce it and they questioned the curfew's legality. In early 2007 I was writing an article about it and sat in on a city council meeting where they debated it, they have yet to bring back a curfew and Fairfield repealed thiers as well. No, he wouldn't, minor labor laws state that any seasonal worker under the age of 18 in Ohio has to have atleast one documented, un-paid half hour break every 5 hours. So the reason there may have been less creepers is not because they all had to go home, but if they had their breaks and staffing done correctly then there shouldn't have been a problem.

Tulsa State Fair Wildcat Accident

You know I have generally found too that the more attractive employees working, the safer the ride is. -
Nice video Paul, the wall of monsters was definenty a great way to kick off the event!

After my VERY sub-par experience at Holiday World I can assure you I would rather drive from cincy to SFKK rather than Holiday World.
-
Yep, thats probably Behemoth track leaving clermont steel fabrications out by route 32 and heading to wonderland. cstrwoman, 275 is a highway that loops around cincinnati and even at its northermost point is still probably a good 3 hours from Geauga Lake and even further from Michigans Adventure. If in fact thunderhawk is going from GL to MIA why would be down here on a highway that loops around the greater cincinnati area?

I can already guarantee that your wrong. Im gonna be there tommorow as is the rest of the staff here. So looks like people are going. The website last year had the same attractions listed (as far as rides go (with the exception of Firehawk)) and I remember it being pretty crowded and a pretty succesful event. So, your wrong.
-
Firehawk may have been moved from another park but its a fantastic ride! Keep in mind that a lot of KI's original rides were moved from Coney Island.

Dismantling Geauga Lake...
Gordon Bombay replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
They seem to think on that site that CF just decided to do this last Friday, from the rate at which removal has started I'd wager to say they had this planned long before last friday. -
Geauga Lake Petition

I'm sure CF would definently save it! ..........for the right price P.S. Brown, why are you up this early? -
DUT stands for Down Under Thunder, one of the original sets of slides in Boomerang Bay: Many people complain of its age and that it is not a very comfortable slide nor has it received TLC In awhile and has been rumored to be removed for some sort of new attraction in the waterpark possibly for 2008. I personally dont know if its a good slide or not, I havent ridden it since I was probably 8 years old.

When did you go that the Villain was enjoyable? Boddah, Dane, zosobeast, and I went last year and that thing hurt worse than SOB! We had to practically carry zosobeast out of the park while he held his ribs and could barely walk. GL wasn't necesarily a dump, it was a pretty decent park, there were other factors that turned guests away and it actually has a pretty decent collection of rides.

Why did you think it was awesome? What did they have to do there for those too young to gamble?
