  1. Lots more coming as well. Full details at https://www.facebook.com/ACESouthernOhio/videos/951010175028426/
  2. I'll likely just follow the news from home. I was already at KI all day yesterday and have to work tomorrow night.
  3. Announcement 2 to be held tomorrow morning at 11am in Festhaus... https://www.facebook.com/visitkingsisland/photos/a.226729858367.174830.155893938367/10155039905983368/?type=3
  4. I got a zen ride on Vortex as well. Came close to getting them on Firehawk (2 others besides me) and WindSeeker (one other person), and my sister got one on Zephyr. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  5. White Water Canyon is closing for the season after Sunday to accommodate Mystic Timbers construction: https://twitter.com/KingsIslandPR/status/764121030407426056 Glad I rode it this past Tuesday.
  6. http://abc22now.com/news/local/ohio-officials-2-children-get-flu-from-swine-at-clark-county-fair For those unfamiliar with the area, Springfield is about 25 miles northeast of Dayton and 45 miles west of Columbus.
  7. Interesting that a 27-foot-tall coaster wouldn't even have buzz bars. I know it was built in 1938, but at some point you think they'd improve the restraints. Even the coaster I rode at the fair last night (a portable Orient Express from Wisdom Rides) has lapbars and it's not even 10 feet high.
  8. Keep in mind that this coaster is nearly 80 years old. Safety in 1938 wasn't what it is today. Also, the coaster is only 27 feet tall, so they probably didn't think seatbelts were necessary. Interestingly enough though, the park's website says riders under 48" must ride with an adult. Most parks don't consider 7-year-olds adults.
  9. KI just uploaded a 5-part video series about the history of their trains to YouTube. Enjoy! Total runtime is a little over 8 minutes.
  10. You're an idiot. I'm not joking about the kid, or his death, or his parents, or anyone related to him. I made a word play about the park, and in the very next sentence said I hope the cause is found. Question; when you see the meme "jet fuel can't melt steel beams", your reaction is...? Can you just agree to disagree and move on please? Name-calling and bickering won't get you anywhere.
  11. Those who were looking forward to the typically lighter crowds this time of year (at least during the week) might be disappointed. The park has announced that now through the 21st, Gold/Platinum passholders can bring up to four friends for $15.99 each. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/events/things-to-do/events-and-promotions/June-19-Gold-and-Platinum-Pass-Bring-Your-Friends-Day?mobile=0
  12. KCTV has posted the press briefing on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/KCTV5/posts/10154238969790470
  13. Not a whole lot of info yet, but the park is reportedly closed for the day now. http://www.kctv5.com/story/32704011/person-dies-at-schlitterbahn-water-park
  14. According to the New York Times, this time the problem was a bearing failure: http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2016/07/29/us/politics/ap-us-washington-monument.html And they're already looking to modernize it to fix the issues. Hopefully that will include a thorough review of all maintenance/repair procedures to ensure that's all being done properly.
  15. I'd imagine that aggravated assault charge won't help his case here - just further evidence that this guy is prone to violence. Hopefully Florida law allows for a pretty severe punishment in this case.
  16. I don't recall them having one when I visited in 2010, but I could be mistaken. I don't remember a whole lot about that park since it was just a day trip and that's the only time I've ever been out there.
  17. Another HUSS Enterprise is seeing its last days. https://www.valleyfair.com/what-s-new/enterprise-announcement/?mobile=0 Anyone know how many of these are left now? I know that CP and KK both have them still.
  18. This just came across my Facebook news feed. https://www.facebook.com/coneyislandpark/posts/10157174400875526
  19. Technically there's nothing that would prevent them from scrapping the launch and going with a traditional lift chain. With enough time and money, anything is possible. How much work that involves and how much it would cost is anyone's guess. I imagine it wouldn't be cheap at all though.
  20. Keep in mind that winters in Sandusky are harsher than they are down here. Even with Cedar Point opening later than Kings Island, the weather doesn't give them as much time to work.
  21. I've only ridden Mean Streak twice but I really don't understand the complaints about it being rough. Maybe it's gotten better in recent years, but I thought it was a fun coaster and not really any worse than other wood coasters. I don't know if I'll make it back up there before it closes. 22. The 4pm opening of resorts is likely to give them time to handle checkouts and cleaning, since 4pm is typical check-in time for many hotels.
  23. According to the Facebook page American Amusement Park Museum and Club, there was some flash flooding at NJFTP earlier today. I can't find much info on the situation though - not even on the park's own Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/aapmac/videos/822020094599181/ https://www.facebook.com/aapmac/videos/822020684599122/
  24. There is a way to link to specific comments actually. If you can provide a link to the video I'll find that comment and link to it
  25. Really looking forward to this. The one GCI I've ridden (Kentucky Rumbler) was a lot of fun, and I think this will be a great addition to the park - another good family coaster that's not as wild or intimidating as The Beast. We're also getting our second new coaster in three years.
