Something's Happening at Fort Cooper!

Also, here's the updated URL to the images... http://KICentral.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=177 -
Apparently that mall becomes the popular hangout spot for bored youths when the local amusement park is closed. And this isn't even close to Kentucky Kingdom (this mall is on the east side of the Louisville area just north of the eastern interchange of I-264 and I-64, but conveniently straight down US-60 from downtown Louisville - probably easily accessible by bus)

Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?
Oldiesmann replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The terms of the contract are even more ridiculous. The trustees get 12.5% with a guaranteed minimum of $20,000 the first year, with that minimum increasing by $10,000 each year the contract is renewed. How exactly do they expect the hotel to make that kind of money? -
You're welcome. This appears to be better quality than the other version that's on YouTube as well.

The things you find on YouTube... Featuring Jason Priestley of Beverly Hills 90210 fame. This is the same year that Paramount bought the park, but the re-branding didn't occur until 1993 (and I'm not sure when in 1992 the sale was completed).

When you are already planning how you're going to use most of your vacation time next year and the first event is still 5 months away

Also note that the Trabant previously mentioned in this topic is no longer there. Such a shame too as that was a fun ride.

I can't recall people standing up or trying to hop on/off the tram while it was moving at all. It may have happened, but it likely was not the reason for their disappearance. Someone probably decided the cost of operating them was an unnecessary expense. Meanwhile you can't take the rent-able strollers or wheelchairs out of the park and there's no way to get up to the front entrance in a vehicle to drop people off or pick them up (though this is partly for safety reasons).

I haven't gotten a PM in months so I can't comment on that, but the last like notification email I got was around 6:30pm on Tuesday.

Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?
Oldiesmann replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
How exactly can money from the insurance claim be used to pay back debts when the policy was taken out by the group leasing the club? This whole thing is still one big mess. I'm sure nobody wants to see the park close, but I don't see how they have any other option at this point. Considering how much they lost this year, I don't see how they'll be able to get enough money to pay back existing debts while still paying current taxes as well. -
Camden Park, 1995
Oldiesmann replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Any word on if/when bumper cars will return? I know the building was destroyed by a fire but I have yet to visit an amusement park (other than Stricker's Grove anyway) that doesn't have them. -
Right. That's why I said the article was good for a laugh or two. I know CP is probably the biggest attraction in Sandusky, but still. And papers wonder why people don't want to subscribe anymore. The Cincinnati paper even resorted to having a deal on Groupon recently (discounted digital subscription with optional physical Sunday paper).

Xlerator Hand Dryers Splatter Bacteria
Oldiesmann replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Dyson's site lists the latest version of their Airblade dryer at $1349 each. That could be a big factor in why they're disappearing. There is no price listed on the Xelerator site though - you have to contact them for a quote if you're interested. -
I'm not familiar enough with the Sandusky paper to know exactly what's to be expected from various writers... This is one part I found funny... SCORE is apparently a charitable group that "provides business mentoring services to entrepreneurs" according to Wikipedia. I'm not sure his "brilliance" would be appreciated by them or the businesses they serve. Also note that the book is available on Amazon for those who want it: http://amzn.com/0974332461
