Walt Disney World's Middle Class Problem
Oldiesmann replied to Hoeter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
These same people complaining that the park is too expensive would likely also complain if the park were so crowded that they couldn't move because the park was seen as more affordable by many... -
I believe it's showing a snippet from the last post in the topic. It does that with images at least.

Americana Park in Middletown OH
Oldiesmann replied to KatieF's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I believe Americana was pretty popular at one time, but I don't remember much about it. I remember going there one year as a kid when what was then CG&E held their company picnic there and as I recall we weren't all that impressed with it. By the time I got my license and was able to go to parks like that they had closed. I never made it up there during the brief revival in the early 2000s before they closed again for good. -
A lot depends on the weather. If it's going to be nice that day, expect larger crowds, especially with the water park opening that weekend. Friday would be your best bet unless it's supposed to rain on Memorial Day.

I've only ridden it a couple times so I may be remembering it wrong. Still a great ride though.

Also an update to Goble's ride comparisons on page 1... Carousel: KI wins hands down. Star Spangled Carousel isn't really anything special - just a patriotic-themed small amusement park carousel. Worth riding, especially if you like carousels, but it's hard to beat KI's. SOB vs Legend: You really can't compare the two. I loved SOB in its original form (though I seem to be in the minority there), but beyond being wooden coasters that opened in 2000, there's not much similarity between them. SOB was 200+ feet tall, had a loop and a top speed of 70mph. Legend is 99 feet tall (with a 113 foot drop) and a top speed of 59mph. Also, I don't remember seeing bumper cars listed. As usual, KI is on the losing end of that comparison. Rough Riders is faster and in a smaller space with no center divider. The cars are also much easier to maneuver.

Mini Mine Train at Six Flags Over Texas: http://rcdb.com/97.htm (thanks to IMDB for listing SFOT as a filming location)

Dorney and MA have not announced anything for 2016 besides the new souvenir cup options that all CF parks are getting. KD's Delirium is indeed a Mondial: http://theamusementwire.com/kings-dominion-continues-construction-on-Delirium/ Skyhawk is apparently a Sky Roller from Gerstlauer, so it's not likely that's from pickers (Gerstlauer still lists that ride on their website), though it's possible the pickers saw one of the ones currently operating in Europe (Gerstlauer's site lists one in Germany and one in Denmark).

Maintaining a single website like that is far easier and cheaper than building an app, especially when it appears they're not even making any money off the site (no ads that I can see).

I'm not seeing a mobile skin either - just the same design they've had for a couple years now that automatically adjusts to fit your device. That's the way it's been since they debuted that design in late 2013.

They were only owned by Vekoma for a short time as Vekoma went into bankruptcy shortly after. The history is a bit murky but there's lots of info here. http://coasterpedia.net/wiki/Caripro Sent from my LG G3 using Tapatalk

When did you join KICentral?
Oldiesmann replied to Captain Nemo's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
Hard to believe I've been here for over 10 years now... -
I've never really understood why anyone thought Ghoster Coaster was a good idea. It had horrible capacity so the lines were always long, and it was rather painful for adults - especially guys. Maybe it was some sort of a package deal with the helicopter ride since both were made by the same company (Caripro, which at some point was purchased by Vekoma).

I still plan on stopping by on my way home from Holiwood Nights again this year since I'll be down there anyway. I might be willing to come down for a KIC meetup as well given enough advance notice.
-
The only sort of email notifications I get anymore are from Tapatalk, which goes to a different email account than the notification emails from this board do (I used a different address for my Tapatalk account).

Even better if it's June 5th (the day after Holiwood Nights )
