  1. I'm sure they covered things up with tarps as needed.
  2. They were also having trouble getting WS open in time for ERT, at least after it first opened.
  3. I can think of one reason why having ERT on Tower would be good - getting shots of the fog around DB/Beast in the early morning hours.
  4. Such a shame that landscaping doesn't get as much attention now as it used to. Hopefully that will change this season though.
  5. Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself here as far as the water bill is concerned. Chester Park learned the hard way that you don't mess around with the water company...
  6. What I find most interesting about this is that the CEO continues to claim that Apollo gave them the best offer, but there were apparently 32 other offers as well. If this is really the best deal out of 33 potential offers, I'd hate to see what the other offers actually were.
  7. I'm waiting to see how many people start thinking that the repainted Invertigo is a new coaster entirely rather than just a repainted one.
  8. I don't see the park renaming Coney Mall anytime soon. X-Base might possibly be its own section some day, but a lot depends on how much room they have to expand back there.
  9. Invertigo doesn't make much sense to me either. I know that ride can have a long wait at times, but that's more due to its capacity than its popularity. Eiffel Tower makes some sense as you have to walk right by it to get to most areas of the park anyway, but it's not like it usually has a long line. Funny how they also decided that WindSeeker isn't really ERT-worthy after all.
  10. Interesting to see that there's no ERT on Beast this season: http://www.visitkingsisland.com/season-passes/gold-and-platinum-pass-benefits
  11. According to the brochure on this site from the park's opening season (http://www.KICentral.com/history/ki1972/), the park's merchants did accept credit back then (BankAmericard (the predecessor to what eventually became Visa) being the "official" credit card of KI, with "most shops and stores" accepting "certain other major credit cards"). I'm guessing that it was simply easier for them to only accept cash/invoice payments, especially due to the large amounts of money they were dealing with ($150 [25 tickets at $6 each] in 1974 is equivalent to about $655 today).
  12. You're quite right about Great Wolf management/leadership not caring. The CEO is still saying this is a good deal for shareholders: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-03-21/great-wolf-chief-calls-703-million-apollo-deal-compelling-1-.html Interesting that she's saying "best overall bidder". That indicates that there were likely other offers that they aren't telling anyone about.
  13. I can't really same I'm surprised by their refusal to issue a refund. They always had "no refund" policies elsewhere as well (at least in the food area - not sure if that applied elsewhere or not).
  14. Robby, you'll be happy with this news Riverbend has just announced that The Beach Boys are coming on June 12th. Tickets go on sale March 30th (a week from tomorrow) and are $25 for lawn and $55 and $95 for pavilion. Also note that there's a $10 discount on lawn seats if you buy them the day they go on sale. I'm hoping to get a ticket for this, as I've never seen them in concert (though I know my dad saw them at least once when they used to play Riverfront Stadium every year).
  15. I don't understand it either. Why would you go to the water park just so you could pay to sit in the luxurious comfort of your own shaded tent?
  16. I used the north exit quite a bit last season, even when parked in the gold pass area (and even though I live south of the park) simply because it was faster than waiting to get out through the main/south exit.
  17. A major WOLF shareholder has now announced their opposition to the deal... http://www.rttnews.com/1843887/pwk-partners-opposes-proposed-acquisition-of-great-wolf-resorts-by-apollo-global.aspx
  18. Ok... Now that I'm home on a computer and can see more of the picture, here are some more notable buildings for you... Castle-type building diagonally from the Fifth Third Tower: Cincinnati City Hall Diagonal building next to P&G: Former headquarters of Chiquita (they're now moving to Charlotte, NC) White building behind Chiquita: Federated Department Stores headquarters
  19. I've got a gold pass, as it's cheaper than platinum and I don't plan on visiting any other CF parks in the near future due to lack of funds to do so.
  20. Way too many buildings in that Cincinnati picture to identify them all, but here are some of the bigger ones... Tall tan building on the left - Carew Tower, then the tallest building in Cincy. Building under construction - Great American Tower at Queen City Square. Stole the "tallest building" title. Building with twin towers - P&G headquarters Tall white building in the background - Kroger headquarters Tall building in the lower left - One Lytle Place (apartments/condos)
  21. Also note the nice brick pavers... Hopefully those will be slightly cooler than concrete.
  22. That's what I thought, especially since each one wants shareholders to contact them with concerns.
  23. WOLF is now trading at $5.47 (just $0.23 shy of its 52-week high of $5.70), as yet another law firm hops on the bandwagon. Terpy, can you provide any insight as to why so many law firms are investigating this? I'm sure it's mostly for monetary/publicity reasons, but I just can't figure out why so many need to be involved. By my count (looking at the news headlines on Google Finance) there are now 11 law firms investigating this deal.
  24. I didn't realize that the rainbow was still there when that ride was installed. Hard to believe it's been there for 20 years now! I also think that ride should hold a record for most theme/name changes in the shortest amount of time (4 different names/themes in its 20-year history, with the longest-lasting being Top Cat's Taxi Jam, which lasted 8 seasons from 1998 through 2005).
  25. Vortex looks so cool from that angle!
