  2. Probably most of the guest who went today was AP holders. We had a very busy day yesterday or we would have been there with you to help get enough rides in for everyone who didn’t go. I’m surprised with the winds today that they were still running Drop Zone. Thanks for the report and I’m glad to hear you got some rides in after missing so much during the summer from your job.
  3. If someone you know and care about starts to get the symptoms of various types of mental illness you are going to be very glad that NAMI exists. I know they have helped me and my family personally. When a loved one goes into a treatment center the families are scared and have most likely went through Hell on Earth with the affected family member. The doctors will only treat the patient and now because of HIPPA, they are limited in giving out information. NAMI reaches out to the families with hugs, listens, instruct family members and the best help of all they educate the families on the real facts on the illness and also offer support groups to meet in various centers with volunteers to mentor and the types of support groups they offer are for the children of, parents of, various family members of and the spouses of a affected consumer. They also offer support and help with a person suffering from mental illness (they call a consumer). I can tell you it really hurts every time someone uses mental illness falsely to try to explain their actions or the worst is when they point out some ones condition as to say they cant be reliable (that would be stereotyping). NAMI also teaches police officers around the country on how to help a very scared consumer acting out. They also teach and train Court personnel, Church Ministers, Jail staff and school personnel. NAMI is a non-for -Profit organization led by mostly volunteers who seek community donations for this keep it in the dark type of work. They are asked to help Law makers in a advisory role to help them fund and to help them understand what the needs are so that they can see how 1 single consumer affects so many people around them. Busting the Mental Illness Stereotype is only one area that they try to educate the general public and in this instance it is working for them because they have now just educated a large number people. This illness lives in my home and I deal with it day by day and through NAMI education I have set a reasonable understanding for all in my home that there are rules and consequences for each of us regarding this matter. I tried hide this problem in my family for a while in fear that no one would believe me when I would tell them what was happening. Then when we had no choice but to seek help. NAMI was there for me and when I went and talked to other fellow NAMI participants I cried and I do mean really broke down when I found out that I was not the only one was experiencing problems from a consumer, at that moment I no longer felt alone. We have been healing ever since then. NAMI webpage I am proud to say that I am a NAMI member.

  6. TheKlockster; I did reply to your original post before it got lost. As far as the trip goes it is and always will be on. I believe we have 19 members signed up this far, we only need 30 to make the busses happen and I really think that when everything is announced a lot more will come aboard. I know as the season ends at PKI more details will start to come out. I can truly say that this is going to be an awesome trip and I’m looking forward to it.

  8. I just wanted to tell everyone hi and to share a special magical moment that happened for my daughter tonight. We went to the Hoop De Doo show tonight and the boat to go back to Magic Kingdom was way over crowded so we decided to take a near empty smaller boat back to the Contemporary Hotel. So when we got to the dock the few people who got off before us rushed to the hotel to catch the special fireworks show this evening. We thought we could see the castle well enough from the empty dock and decided to stay put. While we were waiting we could see a lamp light coming down the dock towards us but couldn't see who it was. Then my daughter recognized that it was one of her most favorite characters (and the reason why she has always called me father and not Dad) It was Peter Pan and all by himself. My daughter went running and screaming down the dock and Peter Pan started jumping up and down and said I knew I would find you here!! They hugged, talked and held hands as they walked on the dock together. Then the fireworks started and he started watching them with her. I'm putting a picture up to share this Magical Moment with everyone.
  9. I am in no way defending Moonves but after reading the article above I came away from it as they have put a priority on the sale of the parks and radio stations as in; seeing the deal go through completion. Also the remark about not wanting to appear as having a fire sale would mean that he would like to space sales out a bit. Which would mean to me is that he was well aware of the Parks sale. Again I’m really not a fan of Mr. Moonves.

    Tower Lights

Boddah1994; you make a great point about using the special lights just for late evening events. During normal operational days they only get an hour or two when it is dark enough to notice. But I think it is a special time for guest each time they come to the park especially for those who only come once a year. I think it would be a memorable touch if that was what they remembered as they left the park.
  11. Yes Gabriel thanks for sharing your pictures with us. I was noticing that the water slides protrude through the walls, then stay outside for a while before they go back into the lodge. I was just thinking that in the middle of winter that will give you a little bit of a chill as you go through those sections of the slides.
  12. Just wanted everyone, especially other families to know another Seasonal event going on around the Cincinnati area. Aquarium lands world-renowned Hollywood make-up artist to kick off its annual Halloween promotion The fourth annual Ghosts of Pirate Cove will take place at the Aquarium from Oct. 21 -31. Guests can experience a sunken ship in the shark tank, pirates, storytelling, activities, decorations and treasure, and a great offer: Up to four kids (12 and under) in costume get in for $5 with each adult paying full price from Oct. 21 – 31, 2006, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. World-renowned Hollywood make-up and special effects artist Ken Niederbaumer is flying in from the set of Pirates of the Caribbean III, just to be part of the Newport Aquarium’s family-friendly Halloween event. Niederbaumer will provide make-up demonstrations, free with Aquarium admission, throughout each day on Oct. 21 and 22, in the Aquarium’s Duke Theater. A few lucky tri-state kids will be randomly selected to receive a "personal pirate makeover" and Aquarium visitors can watch the transformations unfold. On Oct. 28 and 29, the Newport Aquarium will host Costume Contests for kids in Duke Energy Theater at 3 p.m. With help from sponsors MIX 94.1 and FOX 19 and great prizes, this promises to be another fun weekend at the Aquarium. Shark Central This summer, the Newport Aquarium’s new permanent exhibit will help dispel shark myths and give kids a fun way to learn about these unique animals. Fourth Annual Santa’s Water Wonderland 11/24/06 – 12/31/06 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.* Scuba Santa dives daily. Sounds like fun and I think it will give us a reason to stay overnight .
  13. TOPGUN1993; No words that I could express could tell you how great it was this evening to see those old photo’s of the train props and animated figures. I just wish someone had some film footage of the show that they would do as you went around. As a youngster back then it was really mesmerizing to see those live actors and the bangs from the fake guns really riveted you to your seats.
  14. I’m up for all safe, reliable and new technology of any kind for rollercoaster’s. The more technology they use, the more unique the coaster’s will become. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!!
  15. Nice to see that with all the new improvements to FearFeast that they jazzed up Nick-o-Treat Too. Now I haft to come twice once with the family and once without the family to enjoy FearFeast.

    November

For your enjoyment Holiday World is open through October the 8th 2006.I was at Kings Island on the last day In November and it was very busy. You can bet heavily that if Kings Island was not getting the attendance in October then they would be shut down for the season too.
  17. Did I miss something? About a week ago when I asked if the Gold Perks would be there next year and the reply was they are still evaluating those. Were are you hearing that they are going away?
  18. In the Season Pass newsletter it says the following; Buffet Meal Deal at Wings Diner Purchase your All-You-Can-Eat-and-Drink Buffet tickets and enjoy a delicious spread at Wings Diner! The price is $12.99 for adults and $7.99 for children 10 and under. Buffet tickets can be purchased alone or for the best discount, as a combo deal with park admission. 19. Man that sounds like a blast, I just might haft to cut my family vacation to Disney short to come back for that! Edited by Avatar @ 11:22 PM; wife said, NOT!
  20. On September 11th 2006 Paramount Kings Island was shooting a segment for a FearFest commercial. I just wanted to share a few photo’s that a few of the members may be interested in seeing. Click on any photo for a larger image. Any members recognize the haunts in this picture? The next couple of pictures are on location of the shoot. Another who’s who picture. And one of the stars of the commercial shoot. He should have been paid hazard pay for being crammed into that ride for as long as he had to be in it and for his size. The neatest thing that I saw that night was a mostly bald green headed haunt that had a large white patch of hair on the top of his head and when we were sent through the lights on attraction it was the oddest thing to see his hair flying in the wind and his head bobbing around. He also turned his head to look back one time and he had one of those creepy monster mouths and it was one of those moments that you say to yourself I’ll never see that again. Hope you all enjoyed the pictures!
  21. I can see the value in a game for this site and It’s members. For the site it would bring members often to check on the game and therefore more contributions to the Forum and for the members something to do during the off season and to keep up-to-date with other fellow members. I don’t know much about the game that your putting together, is there a link to the old game to see how it is played? The only thing I could see as a problem with a game that members would vote other members off is that some could take it personal.
  22. Actually they do a pretty good job for the kids, but since you asked I think they could do more with the Pumpkin Patch Train Ride. Also I would love to see a Fun House brought in just for October to give the little ones something new. Or add a live show in the Phantom Theater.
  23. No; We are talking about the whole restaurant is now and may always be the Wings Buffet Restaurant. They have already changed the big sign above were you go in. albeit the only difference between the old sign and the new sign is they attached a long narrow attachment under the old sign that identifies it as a All You Care To Eat Buffet. Somebody in the group took some pictures of the new sign and the menu board outside but I can’t remember who did.
  24. Thanks for taking the time to give us a detailed trip report and I look forward to the Disney report soon, being in September it shouldn’t have been to busy.
  25. It was my understanding that last Saturday 9/9/06 that Montgomery Inn was turned into an “All You Care To Eat†venue for GE days at the park. I remarked that would be great if it would stay that way all the time and the response was to this effect; they were going to watch how it works with the private events and if all goes well then maybe carry it through October to see how it works, then evaluate the response during the off season. The new signs where up and the Menu Board outside basically read for the food choices to be very similar to the 4th of July picnic items (Chicken, Potatoes, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers w/fixxens and desert) except it included a full Salad Bar for around $12.00. I don’t know if this is a permanent change or not but I for one certainly hope so for my family dinning choice.
