  1. I would most certainly choose the Adams Family because: 1. My uncle owns the actual Charles Adams family house in New York - and Mrs. Chef and I got married in it. 2. The Adams Family is a classic TV show that has had cartoons, TV shows, and movies modeled after it. It'll be around for years to come. 3. The Italian Job (though I'm proud of my Italian heritage) is not a super-famous film with a huge following. I doubt many people will even remember it in 2 years. 4. The Adams Family would be easier to theme. 5. The Adams Family coaster would be a great FearFest attraction. Those are my thoughts. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  2. I appreciate the thoughts of an actual Australian. May I point out that the Foster's Beer is authentic. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  3. I've lived in Kentucky for 9 years and this time I've visited Coney Island, The Beach, Guntown Mountain (near Mamouth Cave, KY), Lotte World in Korea, Tokyo Disney and 6 other theme parks in Japan, Disneyland, California Adventure, & Universal Studios in California, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney Studios, & Animal Kingdom in Florida, and PKI enough times to write a book about it (and I did)....but never my own state's major park, Kentucky Kingdom, until today. My friend Junko had a company picnic there and took me with her. The park is much smaller than PKI, which is advantageous for walking. The lines are shorter at SFKK, but they are managed very poorly and all of the coasters seemingly have only one train. Also, a lack of signs makes it very hard to find the entrance to many of the rides. First we rode Greazed Lighting, a looping coaster. The ride was short and sweet. I would've liked it better if it lasted longer. Next was Road Runner Express. It is cute to look at, but not themed all that well. And the quality of the ride itself is quite mediocre at best. Third was Chang, a 154 foot tall, stand-up coaster. Chang is the Chinese word for long and at 4,000 feet long, this coaster is properly named. Chang is the smoothest and most enjoyable ride at SFKK. Next was T2, a suspended looping coaster. It is a longer ride than Face/Off and not nearly as smooth and fun. The ride hurt my head and was very shaky. Then we went to Penguin's Blizzard River, which was down for repairs - though it was fine after we left! So we rode Thunder Run next. This wooden roller coaster is very shaky and at times painful. The next coaster was Roller Skater, a junior steel coaster which was fun, but not thrilling. Thereafter, we rode the two roller coasters named Twisted Twins. They are a pair of wooden roller coasters that SFKK counts as 2, even though PKI counts The Racer as 1. Twisted Twins were a pair of smooth, enjoyable wooden coasters. Together they were my second favorite ride. After riding all 8 of SFKK's coasters we went on The Giant Wheel, a ferris wheel that allowed me to take many great pictures of the park. Thereafter we ate a late lunch - burgers, hot dogs, beans, French fries, and soda. Usual amusement park picnic food. After that we went shopping for souvenirs. I wanted to stay longer and ride more rides, but Junko had to return home because today is her daughter's birthday. After we exited the park and headed for the highway we saw a large billboard which advertised "PARAMOUNT's Kings Island". I reckon the PKI people strategically placed it there to appeal to SFKK guests - and it's a brilliant idea. I had a very good impression of SFKK and its guests are very polite people. However, the lines are poorly managed and there is a definite lack of signs. Additionally, the park doesn't use its Looney Tunes and DC Comics theming nearly enough, so it lacks the magic that PKI gets from Nickelodeon, H-B, and Paramount. Overall, it's a great park to visit and I recommend it. However, it's not as well managed as PKI. Have a great weekend! Italian Chef :chef:
  4. A PKI museum would be an EXCELLENT idea! Perhaps it could be placed where The Paramount Story (which should be moved to Paramount Action Zone) is current located at. Just a thought. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  5. I've tried Chippery Chips are was highly impressed by the BBQ chips. Yes, they cost more than would out of the park....as does everything else such as bottled water. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  6. I would love to be at the park....but I can't that day. I must reserve my remaining vacation days for the year to go to Japan this October because: 1. My in-laws need to meet my son. 2. My son will be baptized in Japan. 3. My wife and I will renew our vows in a "Catholic" ceremony to make my in-laws happy. I hope that what we'll get next year will be awesome. Have a great day! 7. First off, THIS IS MY 600TH POST!!!! :cowboy:  :guitar: :graduated: :medieval: I predict virtually no change, except more emphasis on Nickelodeon and less on Paramount's Pictures in the TV commercials and other forms of marketing. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  8. As author of The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island and a freelance writer who has written over 10 articels about Paramount's Kings Island, I'd have to vote for ah oh um, Paramount's Gr--, Paramount's Caro--, uh...PARAMOUNT'S Kings Island OF COURSE! Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  9. I have stayed at the Kings Island Resort and have mixed feelings about it: 1. It is the ONLY hotel that offers a shuttle to and from PKI, which is a great advantage if you plan to stay the night - especially if you are tired or drink alcohol at CDBB or Lt. Dan's Bar. 2. The rooms are okay, not that good nor bad. They are decent. You pay for the convenience of being near PKI, not the room quality. 3. The restaurant was lousy when I experienced it. They had a buffet with cold food. The meat and vegatables were cold. I complained and there was nothing they could do to increase the food temperature. 4. The bar had a GREAT deal - $1 beers when I stayed 3 years ago. My wife and I drank quite a lot since they were so cheap. 5. Their gift shop was lousy as it lacked the most important item they could possibly sell. 6. Until last year, the hotel hosted a science fiction convention, which switched hotels this year. I thought the conventions were cool. Since The Kings Island Resort was featured on The Brady Bunch and Partridge Family KI episodes and it shares historical roots with PKI, I have a soft spot in my heart for it. However, it's really not that great, but not that bad. I give it a "C". Anyone else care to discuss their experiences there? Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  10. Logic dictates that I must concur with Ryan. Right now PKI, as a Paramount park, uses copyright material from Nickelodeon, MTV, CMT, and other Viacom owned affiliates. That's the advantage of Viacom being the parent company. The only potential change I see is that some zealots at Nickelodeon may wish to expand the Nickelodeon areas of Paramount's different parks at the expense of Hanna-Barbera areas. Additionally, next season we may see less emphasis on PKI as a movie park. It would be pointless of Paramount to go through the un-necesary and expensive process of changing PKI to NKI and all Paramounts Parks into Nickelodeon Parks. It is probably just a change in which the managers of Paramount's Parks report to Nickelodeon executives rather than Paramounts Pictures executives. That's my opinion anyway. Have a great day! 11. Since PKI is a Paramount park, I would like to see a Star Trek themed area with: - an indoor coaster more advanced than FoF - at least one ride simulator - a live show with performers dressed as Star Trek characters - a restaurant that offered items like Vulcan veggie burger - a gift shop that sells Star Trek videos, clothes, toys, etc. Have a great day! 12. Ideallistically speaking, it would be best to have both a campground and a hotel. Each of these two choices appeal to different target markets. The latter requires more disposable income than the former. We will have to wait and see what happens. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  13. Thank you Brother!
  14. Are the performers in the parade local yokels or are they people that tour all the Paramount parks with the parade?
  15. If you were to get married (or re-new your vows if you are already married) at PKI, which area would you choose? And if you can be specific about food, rides, etc. - please tell us what you'd do. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  16. Today on 7/31 I drove to PKI alone (not fun) to shop at the event. I was disappointed that there weren't any size Medium shirts left - only small, large, and extra-large. However, I was thrilled to see Hanna-Barbera and PKI key chains, PKI playing cards, and PKI paper weight being sold for $1.00!!!! I spent $20 on a mixture of these items to bring to Japan as gifts. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  17. Today is the very first time I EVER drove to PKI alone and hung out alone. WOW - It was too lonely. My main reason for going was to shop at the tent outside of CDBB. I got to the park around 12 PM and it was already PACKED. I only got to ride the Backwards Racer and AE due to limited time. I tried riding The Beast, but it was down after I waited 30 minutes. I noticed that waiting on line alone is VERY sad and lonely. Not having someone to chat with diminished my experience. However, the rides were as enjoyable as always. After my 2 hour visit, I went to CDBB to shop and then went home. Have a great weekend! Italian Chef :chef:
  18. Mrs. Chef and I tried to go tonight but Baby Chef was in a lousy mood and wouldn't stop crying. I hope to make it tomorrow. Have a great weekend! Italian Chef :chef:
  19. I must be honest and say that the Nickeloden Parade ROCKED THE HOUSE! Yeah, it wasn't as good as a Disney parade...but dang close to it. Have a great weekend! Italian Chef :chef:
  20. I'm surprised that Paramount chose Fukuoka, one of the smaller 3 islands and not the Honshu, the main island. Perhaps real estate is cheaper there and there is a lack of great entertainment on that island. It might be a very wise move. Would Paramount bring any of Paramount's Parks rides to the park? I honestly don't know. If they try to make it a Universal Studios type park, maybe no. If they try to make it a movie-thrill park hybrid park like PKI, then YES. Have a great weekend! Italian Chef :chef:
  21. Thank you Maureen! It sounds great! I will try to shop there this weekend. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  22. A Paramount park in Japan is something that I should seriously think about considering who my wife is.
  23. I can't wait to find out what PKI is getting next. Do I smell a new roller coaster? Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  24. According to the article below, "The water park would be almost three times the size of the one at the company's Great Bear Lodge in Sandusky, spokesman Eric Lund said." http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2004/03/2.../biz_pki24.html In my opinion, the proposed hotel is TOO big. I hope that they don't make it so large and expensive that they price themselves out of the market. Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
  25. Howdy folks, The proposed Great Wolf Lodge on PKI property, which would include an indoor waterpark, just got a step closer to becoming a reality. Read about it in the Mason Community Press below. ____________________________________________________________ Water-lodged: Great Wolf Lodge unveils plans for indoor resort in Mason By Charelle Rodenbaugh Staff Reporter MASON - An indoor waterpark, lodge and conference center could be another way to draw tourists to Mason and Warren County, city officials say. Economic Development Director Michelle Blair said in a regional study of the local economy, Warren County offered the most tourism opportunities in three states, with Mason home to more than half of the regional tourist activities. "Mason's overall economic impact to the region is further boosted by the changing travel habits of families that are staying closer to home and taking more frequent and impromptu trips," Blair said. Council approved the project and an incentive package for the Great Wolf Lodge Resort and Conference Center at the July 12 meeting. Mason Councilwoman Charlene Pelfrey said she is excited to see the project move forward. The construction of Great Wolf Lodge in Mason would occur on the current Kings Island Campground site, a property recently brought into the city by annexation. Representatives of the lodge said they are partnering with PKI. They would like to build a 365-room, four-story, log-sided, north woods themed indoor water park resort and conference center on the 38-acre campus. Great Lakes Co. controls five Great Wolf Lodges in the U.S. There are an three under construction. One of the Great Lakes lodges is in Sandusky, near Cedar Point. Marck Bavaro, an official with the Great Lakes Co. said that lodge has been very successful. Bavaro said that Mason became a prime location for the resort after studies revealed that about a third of the population in the United States is located within a five-mile drive of Mason. Bavaro said because Great Wolf Lodge would be open year-round, it would generate tourism when Paramount Kings Island is closed. City spokeswoman Jennifer Trepal said although Mason approved a tax break to bring the lodge to town, the company may still decide to go elsewhere. She said no construction plans have been submitted to the city's planning commission. John Harris, president of the Chamber of Northeast Cincinnati, said he thinks the addition of the conference center and indoor waterpark will be a positive step for the community. Harris said Great Wolf will do that by extending the current 100-day visitors season. Mason is already home to The Beach Waterpark, off of U.S. 741, and PKI's new Boomerang Bay waterpark, at the south end the PKI property. Both parks are open during the summer. Representatives of The Beach, which is in its 20th season, did not respond to messages from The Community Press. "This type of development has been rumored to be put on the campground property for years," Harris said. Harris said he feels the lodge would be a tremendous asset to the area and that other properties will benefit from the construction as well. "We want to ensure it has a positive impact on those business already here," Harris said. crodenbaugh@communitypress.com 248-7574 ___________________________ Have a great day! Italian Chef :chef:
