Well, if I buy my Platinum Pass from Cedar Point and I get it processed at another park....I'll have Point Perks associated with my Pass...TRUST ME!! Otherwise, Cedar Fair...I love you, I love you, I LOVE YOU!!! It was scary reading this on the CF's website: For instance, even if you purchase your 2008 Platinum Pass at Cedar Point this fall, if you’re visiting Knott’s in January, you may redeem your certificate at Knott’s in January Since that will be my exact situation now! (I'm making my girlfriend buy my Platinum Pass for my birthday in early November). So again Cedar Fair...thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!! And PLEASE don't change this policy cuz my girlfriend and I are booking our LA plane tickets for New Year's THIS weekend! (also they better have Season Pass cards stocked as I could picture a problem with that!) But I'll be sure to show ya'll our hottness processed 08 Platinum Pass in January! Ok, listen up. I have some information. They have made the policy in which you CAN get your Platinum Pass processed at ANY Cedar Fair park, HOWEVER you have to bear in mind that the technology is different with some parks so if you have your pass made at another park, you may or may not be able to scan in at Kings Island. You may have to go to GR every time and get a stamp. Therefore it is recommended that you get your pass processed at your home park. Also, note that you will only have Platinum Benefits at that park in which you PROCESSED your pass. CORRECTION!!! I retract that statement. Your benefits will be at the park in which you PURCHASED your pass, not processed. I apologize for the inconvenience.

That's where you're wrong, sir. If Crayola were responsible for coloring the coasters Firehawk would be red brick crayon and several of CP's coasters would be fire engine red.
-
Yep. Right after Old Indiana reopens. And not one moment before. oooh, Cedar Fair's Old Indiana? I'd say it would be more likely to be Paramount's Old Indiana.
-
I picked giga because I didn't see hyper and I picked Arrow because I think it's cool that you threw in that option.

Great trip report! I think you hit some nails on the head about Holiday World and didn't even know it. Let's begin, shall we? Raven is the #1 wooden coaster in the world? Uh yeah.. no. The Raven is a boring little ride. When I went down last year, I would have been rather disappointed if it weren't for the Voyage living up to its hype. I honestly think the old lady paid somebody off. Legend over Raven ANY day of the week. Voyage is better than The Beast? I suppose one could argue that forever, however for as much as you might tilt your hat to the Voyage for its air time, you have to do that equally so for The Beast's environment. If I was offered a trade, I'd keep The Beast. Friendliest park? I think you hit the nail on the head with the whole, "sure... whatever" thing. I mean, yeah, they're pretty friendly and all, but hell... that's their job. Just don't forget, every time someone makes a bad trip report on here about HW, that Paula lady conveniently posts a link to something bashing KI in her blog. Can you say retaliation? Yeah, very friendly. You mentioned admission and food prices. Of course they're going to be lower than KI... HW is what? Maybe 10 acres? Kings Island is a vast and versatile entertainment complex which offers a LOT more than Holiday World. You really get what you pay for. I wasn't impressed with their water park. I mean, it's pretty good but nothing special. I think it's a little better laid out than most, but isn't nearly as fun as Boomerang Bay or even Great Wolf Lodge. For most of us (and when referring to 'us' I'm speaking for people between the ages of 12 and 30 mainly) Holiday World is a GREAT deal with low prices and free stuff. Unfortunately, now that word has gotten out I think that it really has turned into a low-rent redneck park. Guests can REALLY dictate the direction of the park and if they're attracting a lower class crowd who may pinch pennies to the point of event packing meals in their cars for Holiday World, the extra expense is going to go into the food and other amenities. Oh yeah -- The Voyage was down. Do you want to hear something interesting? You know how people always compare KI to HW saying that HW is so much better because their rides always open on time? Well, HW did NOT increase the size of their wood coaster maintenance division and since they're always working SO hard to get the Voyage open on time, guess what? The Raven and Legend sometimes open late. In conclusion, I'd go back to Holiday World. I wouldn't drive there, but if someone else was going, I'd ride with them... I would probably pay full price for a ticket. The Voyage alone is worth that. Then again, that's THIS year... who knows how that thing will age. Ryan

I remember the giant missle that used to be primed for launch and would start steaming. That was neat. Also the smoke under the trains when they were taking off.
-
They haven't for several years now. It's never open even on busy days. I think the reason they cited as to why it didn't open was staffing issues. Now that area is in disrepair. Really a shame too. It was neat.
-
They will NOT be taking your 07 season passes when you process your 08 this year. This is NOT an official word from the park, but I wouldn't be surprised at all of CP processed passes at the end of this year and in the pre-season next year like KI has done.

Smoker Escorted Out of SFGAm
BoddaH1994 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I think that's a problem on the inside which is working its way out. If a smoker sees hundreds of other people smoking carelessly outside of the smoking areas, they will obviously think KI isn't serious about the policy. If someone addresses them about it, then they are one out of hundreds of people violating the rule and I can see why that would upset them. I'm not condoning smoking outside of the smoking areas or arguing with employees, but I think that's where the problem stems from. -
1. Yes -- at this time the official word is that you MUST have your pass processed at your home park and you MUST have had your pass already processed in order to gain entry to other parks in 2008. Remember that the 2008 pass is NOT valid for the remainder of 2007, however the benefits will begin on January 1st, 2008. 2. The official word right now is that you will ONLY get the VIP benefits from the park in which you purchased and processed your pass. 3. At this time I do not have any official information about Cedar Point's processing dates.

The FAQ is very current. A lot of HH stuff has yet to be decided, like if the park will close and reopen, etc.

My guess is he either argued with someone when they told him to put it out or he was caught more than once. -
Applications will come out in November. Until then click here for the latest KIC: Survivor info.

Which type of season pass are you going to get?
BoddaH1994 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
Not at all. Admission to CP plus parking will cost you around $60 or so, so you almost break even for the upgrade with just one visit to CP. Not to mention that you have Geauga Lake, Wildwater Kingdom, and Soak City in Ohio alone at your disposal. Ryan -
The reason why it was packed over the bonus weekend (and probably the reason they HAD the bonus weekend) was because anyone who purchased a season pass for the next year got two free tickets for that weekend. In fact, I remember getting an email offering 10 free tickets two or three years ago.
-
It's an online game that is hosted by UncleHenry that is played during the offseason. Players will be assigned to tribes and compete for the title of KIC Survivor!

Being "bare bones" nights, we may not even see rides in operation. We're not really sure at this point. We do know that only major major attractions will be open.
-
People have all sorts of misconceptions about rides, but the downtime thing... that's only going to get worse.
-
I've gotta admit. I thought both Dragster and MF are like one-time things. I'd ride 'em again, but I certainly don't think a trip to CP would necessarily be lacking if I didn't ride them next time. Magnum for me, sir.

Unfortunately, the problem last year was that you could go up and "shake down" 10 different people and get 10 different answers. They're working hard this year to clear things up.
