  2. I've heard figures as high as 35 grand for Disney weddings.
  3. Maybe, maybe not. I think I recall CoastersRZ purchasing a Maxx Pass last year on P&G Day. It's free at a lot of other CF parks too. Everyone just thinks that they're all upcharges because Soak City is. There's never really a 'due date' on press releases. Although I typically have an idea as to when something is going to happen, sometimes press release are as much of a surprise to me as they are to the rest of you. I can tell you that the Halloween Haunt press release likely won't be out until sometime after Labor Day, so I wouldn't get all worked up if we don't have the information by this weekend. Despite the rumors, press releases typically announce one thing at a time, so I wouldn't expect to have season pass information on it, although I was assured that season pass information would be released soon.
  4. A lot of schools make it impossible to play both football and basketball anyway...
  5. You had credibility until you said you were blond... then I looked at your myspace and you're not.
  6. I'm all for it. I honestly believe that kids learn absolutely nothing in the classroom. Once they get past the point of learning how to sit, pay attention, be punctual, and be organized, there really isn't a lot of value to school. Look at 1st through 8th grade... a kid sits there for eight years listening to a teacher read out of a book, only to have to answer true/false or matching questions on the exact same material which they covered with absolutely no need to thought or interpretation. It only gets worse in high school and college when you have to sit through lectures only to have to regurgitate the information in essay format. College is the biggest scam on Earth, but I won’t get into that. What’s the moral of the story? Take your kids to the zoo, a museum, an aquarium, etc. Let them be entertained AND learn. That way there’s something tangible that they can see and maybe even touch. They’ll learn a heck of a lot more than they would listening to a teacher yap away while staring at a picture in a text book.
  7. I think you hit the nail right on the head -- IF there is an upcharge, for the sake of KI's relationship with the public, it had BETTER be worth it and people will NOT pay for what they were getting free last year... fortunately, Cedar Fair knows that...
  8. Leadfoot. Nah, he just takes the short cuts...
  9. ^ No joke, dude. Best trains ever. It's like riding on a couch.
  10. Again, for the 1000th time, a decision has not been made yet. I promise. I swear on The Beast. I swear on my leather customized fanny pack. Don't pouch for clues around PKI.com, you're not going to get any definite answers.
  11. I'm seriously not withholding any information from you at all. You know everything I know.
  12. Even CedarPoint.com leaves a little to be desired....
  13. Ahhh... Kennywood. So many of their rides are just chart toppers. Plus the food is excellent too. When I was going to visit KW, I posted on KPConnection.com that I was only going for a few hours and asked what hidden gems I should avoid missing. They ALL ranted about all the food I should try.
  14. Mmmmk... I just heard from the park that season pass information will be out sometime in the near future. Don't put all of your eggs in one basket quite yet. Let's see what they have to say.
  15. Oh wow! All the way from Seattle? You have to understand the nature of the event. It's not just haunted houses, but there are also walk-around characters which will hide on the midways and jump out at you. They even chase people if they really feel like they can get away with it. That is what the park is most concerned with. Also, please read the attractions page for Halloween Haunt. Some things are considered "Rated R" and may have suggestive themes. Particularly, Club Bood will be a haunted dance club and will feature some things that are not appropriate for children. Then again, Kings Island does not know the maturity level of your kids, but you do. Click on the link for that attractions page above and make a decision for yourself. But once again, the park does not recommend bringing small children to Halloween Haunt.
  16. Did you actually talk to someone about having a wedding AT Kings Island?
  17. I think that we're jumping to conclusions when assuming that the Platinum Pass will work for the water parks. Yes, that map is on there, but it's the same map as on Cedar Fair's home page.
  18. VERY interesting find. The down side is, we still really have no info! I mean, what's the difference between a Maxx Pass and a Platinum Pass? Are they the same thing? Will there be a Platinum Pass Plus? It doesn't say whether or not it will allow you into ALL of the Cedar Fair properties, although you can make that assumption from the context clues... all except for the water parks, which we still have no idea about. Don't forget, Cedar Fair has been on kind of a name change kick recently, so maybe it is just the new Maxx Pass. Also, don't forget that CF is still kind of pouring the mold for the future of the company, so they may still be making a decision as to whether or not to have a Maxx Plus (or Platinum Plus). Like I said before, I was given official word that there would be a 3 tier pass system like this year, however things change... sometimes daily. Let's wait and see! EDIT: Ohh... just noticed that it's labeled as a "Cedar Fair Platinum Pass Gift Certificate" I wonder what that's supposed to mean...
  19. Yeah, that joke was kind of for those who are dedicated enough to listen to the conference calls.
  20. Let me make this very clear: Drop Zone was down because it had a MINOR technical issue and they had to order a part from Intamin before they were willing to reopen it. The closure of Drop Zone for any extended period of time was NOT a direct result of the incident at Kentucky Kingdom.
  21. Gold Pass was something that Paramount did to try to get you to purchase your pass early, thus you would visit earlier in the season and have more overall park visits per year. Let's be honest -- Gold pass is expensive to maintain and it's kind of lame. I use the Gold Parking every time I go, but other than that, I haven't used any of the benefits this year. I mean, the walk on passes have been nice in years past, but that's not really a deal breaker for me. I have NEVER used the food package discunts, I'm too might of a night owl to do the ERTs, and I only go to Boomerang Bay about once every two years. I mean, I know that having the ability to do these things is kind of nice, but I'd trade them in a heartbeat for maybe a 10% food discount or something of that nature.
  22. Winterfest, both pre-Paramount and in the Paramount Era was an upcharge with a small discount for passholders of the NEXT year.
  23. Not to mention that the park is typically busy over Labor Day weekend regardless of the factors listed above. Yeah, it should be a big weekend for the park.
  24. I'm sure it was a block violation too. Something like that should NOT be possible on any ride.
