1979, I was 6. Went on Beast after 4 hour wait. What a rush. Got back in line later in the day. 2 hour wait. I somehow shrunk and was not permitted to ride. Dad stuck papertowels in shoes to give me the 1/64" I needed. Waited another 2 hours. I'm at the air gates. It's 9:30pm-ish. Thunderstorm hits. Beast is closed.
  2. I'm not saying the decision was not made for many years, but..... The metal used for the track is cold roll steel- the cheapest steel that can be purchased. The rust is not a surprise.
  3. Exactly.I can't see a merger helping in any way.
  4. ^ That is more of a regional competition. I am referring to the minority enthusiast side who travels nationwide to enjoy the constant 1-upping the parks partake in.
  5. I hope this stays a rumor. Healthy competition is good for the consumer.
  6. Watching is not the issue. Recording it poses the problem. I wonder if Ford sold momentos of the Pinto?
  7. I'm actually quite surprised you, or anyone else here for that matter, didn't brought up the fact that SS was the one that ignited the rumor about a potential 2009 coaster back before the end of the 2007 season for the Island. It's hard to be wrong when a prediction is made for a new coaster every year at parks that have not built a new coaster recently.I can remember reading about an aquatrax being built to replace White Water Landing & a certain looping wood coaster opening back up.
  8. I wish to thank Don for this: Don't twist the meaning of what I said. Don's quote was provided by the media, who have been known to make many, many, many errors, especially when quoting another. I can see the writer asking: "What are the future plans for the SoB site?", and the response being: "There are no current plans for all 12 acres."
  9. Where did someone claim that a lie was made?
  10. I'm not sure this is an accurate statement.
  11. A self described "frequent flyer" with a platinum pass should know of the policy as it is a handful of years old. If he did not, then shame on him for not doing the leg work and on top of that, he should understand that policies can change as necessary. He obviously has other motives for willing to give up his pass for his own misunderstanding. This incident just gives him a "good excuse" in his eyes for a decision that was already made. I have said it before- those who intentionally look for a problem will find one.
  12. CP on HW Saturday is insanely busy. Maverick, MF & TTD will all be 2+ hour waits. I highly suggest going Friday or Sunday. You can hit all the coasters easily on Sunday open to close.
  13. ^^ Nothing is stopping anyone from doing it. The point of the "rule" is for security. Haunt guests are much different than the normal summer guest (i.e. rowdy, energetic, younger- in a nutshell- it is more of a college party atmosphere than a family atmosphere.) They will go to the parking lot & drink or partake in other extra curricular activities that will most likely end up being an empty Doritos bag. The rule is not a big deal, unless you want it to be a big deal. Sporting events & concerts have had the same policy for many years for many of the same reasons. This particular poster was just miffed his well laid out plan did not go as he planned. I questioned if he drove four hours for KI, or for dinner, given his "weekend" was ruined.
  14. ^ Poppies......... poppies............
  15. ^ Funny! It does bring up a question- what is the obsession with a ride count each year? I can understand a sig with the parks visited count, or how many times you visited each park count, but a total KI ride count? I don't get it.
  16. Did anyone else chuckle @ 1:13 when it was mentioned: "That's it. That's the only break."
  17. It is impossible for me to put them in any ranking. I grew up and am still partial to CP & KI, and have since been to all of them at least once- many before CF took over. I have had a strong dislike for KD, but hopefully that will change after next year.
  18. The difference being the posts on KIC do not disappear once the rumor is proven false. In addition: the same untrue statements that are later deleted on SS are first found on KIC- with the same exact words/ wording used. Most times credit for the information is a "SS source" as opposed to "friends at KIC". How many remember the unethical Maverick posting?
  19. Sorry to hear of your loss. I am dreading the day...... - Brown, who cherishes each day he can spend with both of his 90+ year-old grandparents.
  20. In compliance with the ToS:No.
  21. Do yourself a favor.Look up the definition of sarcasm.
  22. And some believe leadership decisions are not painful.....
  23. People afraid of clowns must be freaked out by your house. Got that big inflatable one right there in your yard. HEYOOOOOOOOOO! funny guy.......
  24. Perhaps it is a marketing ploy? Pics of SoB's destruction get updated, continually drawing interest from those who are wondering what is coming next. So they keep coming back to check..... and check..... and check....... and check.....and talk...... and check.. etc.
