  1. Given that 4 years ago the meeting was near Knott's, why is this news significant?
  2. Ah, memories....
  3. No, I highly doubt that they actually wanted it closed on opening day. I am, however, suggesting that someone dropped the ball on this big time. Whether that someone is at CF or Mondial is beyond my capability to speculate. Both sides are professionals and know what work needs to be done for a ride to operate on opening day.Since we know the fix is out there, and by all appearances the fix is working, it comes down to scheduling. SNAFUs happen, and I have had to take off my enthusiast hat to understand that (especially in 2000). KI is just on the short end of the stick and will be w/o WS for a couple weeks until the work can be completed.
  4. I highly doubt many know what the real issue is, but we can narrow it down: - It is not a track issue since trains have been seen cycling - It is not a transfer track issue (same above reason) - It is not a specific train issue (ditto) It has to be a continuous operation issue. My guess that is it a sensor issue that cannot be overridden- perhaps a safety sensor?? Continuously overriding a safety sensor defeats the reason for the sensor.
  5. ^So you are suggesting KI/ CF did not want WS operating for opening day?
  6. Due to their obession with themselves and the members tendency to all think like robots, I tend to take information on TPR about as valuable as info found on SS. Like I mentioned, even if the updated dampeners were on Knott's WS, there is only so much time in the day, and physical resources, to get all the necessary work accomplished.
  7. My understanding is that 2012 WS shock absorbers were not used or tested prior to Carowind's 2012 version. Even if they were on Knott's WS, there still is limited time to build and install two new WS as well as modify 4 others.
  8. ^ Did the seats come close/ danger of hitting each other like last year?
  9. How often do you go to the park per year?
  10. ^ You can pick and choose all you want. Paying more for a perk, is paying more for a perk..... Just like those with ERT perks are paying to step ahead of you before the park opens at 10:00am and are already in line/ riding even if you get to the park at 8:00am. That is, unless you paid extra for a pass with perks.....
  11. Rumor has it (and it wasn't on SS?? ) hydraulics were failing, and the ride needed to be taken apart/ reassembled a few different times to properly troubleshoot.
  12. dang fat fingers....
  13. Not trying to be argumentative, but did we? - I don't recall any info being shared about it not opening with the park for the season - After it didn't open, I heard Knotts was also down - New ones and Cedar Point all opened on time Maybe I missed something, but it caught me by surprise. Carowinds opened their new (2012) WindSeeker the end of March with the new shock absorbers and it was known (but perhaps not here- other sites- namely CB: http://coasterbuzz.c...-its-WindSeeker http://coasterbuzz.c...-fun-than-scary http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/25538-is-WindSeeker-running-yet/page__fromsearch__1 that discussed it) about all the WindSeekers being updated. There is just not enough days to properly test the two new WS (as well as test the new shock absorbers), make the decision to use the new shock absorbers on the older models, manufacture the new shock absorbers, and then update the 2011 models- KI just happens to be last on the list.
  14. ^ Sometimes crap happens, and it all happens at the same time. -B & M coasters do not have a reputation of being maintenance nightmares. - DZ was struck by lightning. Can't plan for acts of God nor can anyone predict what issues, if any, will result from such acts. - WS being down should not come as a surprise. We knew it was coming.
  15. So? Only a select group knows why the modifications were scheduled the way they were. Honestly, daily operations for both parks practically started at the same time. If CP had more outings reserved, why not modify their WS first? Not everything has to be a conspiracy against KI.
  16. My guess is that there are only "x" number of employees that can work on WS. If most/ all WS needed modification (including the building/ assembly of the new WS) they all cannot work on each one at the same time.
  17. ^ That would then send many down to WS only to be disappointed, and walk away angry.
  18. This should send Fast Lane whiners complainers for a loop: http://travel.famili...strapped-flyers
  19. I'm surprised that was even mentioned.
  20. Where is B & M?.... Do we need to drive there?.... I've got a full tank of gas!! How can I help!!!!! True story: In 2000, MF was struck by lightning on a Friday night frying CPU part. CP maintenance big-wig (Monty?) took red-eye flight to Switzerland and brought CPU part back to CP at 9:00pm-ish Saturday. CP kept MF operating till 2:00am.
  21. ^ Given that.... It must not be a KI off the shelf part needed, but rather an ordered part from B & M. Let's hope it gets up and going for the weekend! I can only imagine the lines for the other rides with DB being down (as well as all the whining about FL for other rides).
  22. Intresting. I would have thought Carowinds & KD would be on the same type system, oh well. Too bad for the trouble, but at least they make it right.
  23. ^ No issues at Carowinds?
  24. Those students may be part of a church/ band/ social group not directly associated with a school.
  25. I have been surprised about all the static pass holders have been getting for ERT this year. It has been more vocal this year than in past.
