Fantastic article written in 2000 about the Koch family and the ventures they have accomplished. http://www.hohoholdings.com/kdhistory.htm Most notably:
-
The successful model the Kochs have been using at HW has been bringing in guests for many years. I fail to see why a guest will be influenced to attend a park purely on the notion that the park is on leased land or the other behind the scene details most are unaware of at any park. Yet, if you give them the successful HW model: great customer service, clean park, free soft drinks, free suntan lotion etc. there is no way to predict it cannot work.

The investors have a very successful model to follow. Predicting failure one year before the gates open is similar to predicting the weather 25 days in advance.

I wish to thank you. My bad jokes have a tendency to derail topics. You have now brought derailing to a new level. -
KI should sell Margaritas..... and flip flops.....
-
The biggest change? Not being so bold or vague and they really need to search for what we all need.....
-
Would also need to re-use the que for Flight Commander, the supports for the Sky Ride to reach across the park, and, the cars for The Bat. The finale: use the splashdown from KCKC with Papa Smurf laughing at you for riding willingly.

I like that SoB is no longer causing bad press for KI.

You always down play the employees at the park and it's getting rather annoying. You're obviously butthurt. Just because you didn't enjoy it doesn't mean everyone else feels the same. Just like any other job I guarentee most employees with Cedar Fair enjoy their positions, that is if they have a good attitude. Not "butthurt" at all. I agree with you, but I'm also thinking of it realistically. The summers are hotter than hell here, and often times when they are out there in that heat for 5+ hours it gets to you. Even if they like what they are doing (now) doesn't mean they won't have an off day or two. But again the employees will put on the facade of being happy and friendly which is what they should do. I say this, we should wait till Mid July, mid August and see if the Awesome Attitude is still there (Which it must likely will but not as great as it was on Opening Day/weeks afterward). You are right. I hope the current trend is the norm, but the park has been open a handful of days. Once the daily grind sets in, and the "new" job has worn off, it will be intresting to see if the happiness continues.

When CF purchased the Paramount Parks, many were critical. They feared change, which is natural. Most were used to "PKI" and not "KI" from the 80's. I believe the changes have been positive and well thought out- to the point where some were unhappy with how long it took to change things. Knee jerk reactions or change for the sake of change often does not work. KI is a big place. It takes time to see what works for the park & for the guests. The park is slowly reflecting what it was like during the 80's: attitude, cleanliness, fun, food, etc. The 80's were 30 some years ago, so believeing the park will be just like then is unreasonable, but I am still excited to see what will change in the next 5 years. I don't drink the kool-aid and applaud Mr. Kinzel for pulling the trigger to get what he considered "the jewel". His vision is becoming reality and will only get better with Mr. Ouimet.

I heard someone make a claim the president of a local company gave them inside/ sensitive information minutes after their first ever meeting. This information came just days after a local media source had an actual quote from a high ranking park official that: "no decision has been made." EDIT: This has made Screamscape, only reinforcing that the claim is crap.

^ Strike that, reverse it.

I'm glad that nobody was injured during the storms. It sounded rather violent. Did the park alert guests to seek shelter?
-
Being obsessive complusive about FL has a rather good chance to ruin your day at the park.

Cedar Point removing WildCat

That sounds better than: "Wildcat suffered another accident during the pre-season test cycle and it was determined to be dismantled as opposed to being a safety issue." Granted- that may be a bit dramatic, but I believe the deciding factor was somewhere along those lines. -
Prove what?
